And given they have another Ex Richmond player as coach it makes you wonder whats going on a Tigerland when they cant keep talent within the club.
Hopefullly Richmond have a better year this yr, Terry Wallace has got to get things happening soon or there will be calls for his head.

Cant see Richmond going any worse luke, 16th IS the bottom rung.;)
There were calls for Ploughs head this year but as he had 2 yrs to run it would have cost them a 4tune to pay him out.
It will be interesting to see if the Nth melb fans get off their backsides and join up, as from what i have been hearing and reading, 5 yrs they"ll be gone!!

I agree, so Dion, does that mean I can't contribute here either:D
Anyways, as you probably know, North Melb is staying in Victoria, and is putting the "North Melbourne" name back in the "North Melbourne Kangaroos".
It's going to be a hard time, the next few years, especially since we knocked back on offer to become one of the richest clubs. I beleive the Kanga's will make it through. And they made the decision I would have made too.

Or you could switch your allegiance to the newly named Fremantle Bockers (or should it be Dombers...), who seem to have added a fair wedge of former Essendon people to either their playing list (Solomon, Bradley, Johnson) or coaching staff (Harvey, Prior, Wallis & Shaw) in recent times....;)

Yes i listen to SEN most mornings but being AM and so far from Melb it is staticky (is that a word!). 3AW is simulcast on our local radio and Clinton was the ultimate pro. Such a young man who had 30+ years left in him. The people in the industry said he was the next eddie, rex, bruce Mc or dennis cometti...all in one!
Apart from all that, he was a genuine great guy, not a big head.

As some of you know. i run a tipping comp at my workplace which has from 15 to 30 entrants @$30 per entry.
As there are a few of us on this forum that follow AFL, I would be happy to organise a tipping comp just for Biante members.
A: I enjoy AFL and tipping
B: It is a great talking point on Mondays.
C: Chance to win a prize.
If any members would like to have a go, let me know and if we can get enough interest, we could arrange a prize for a small outlay
For Eg 18 members@ $10 could get a 1:18 of their choice, or free entry and a donation of prizes from members/model shops. I'll do the work if you show the interest What do you all think??

My wife and two kids 15 and 13 are eagle members and i will not go to a game with them,
have only just got rid of the eagle number plates off my Mitsy Triton,
eagle plates you say
yeah they were on the thing when brought it at the right price back in 2001.
told my wife she could have them back then .
and with the laws over here it would have cost me more than what they were worth to transfer, but that law is due to change very soon. so i have plain old W.A plates on now and what a relief.
imagine the crap i copped [pie supporter with eagle plates]
the weagle plates are being held for my wife , but i keep forgetting to remind her.
anyway back on course.
the eagle games are s**t.
that bloody theme song goes on and on,
they got one part of that right "we are flying high"
once i went with a mate also a pies supporter to watch the eagles play us " they won"
and at half time my mates boss got us invited into the Bill Walker rooms and private boxes we lasted 10 mins before we snuck out ,everybody was trying to out do one another , bragging about business deals they had made,

Long way 2 go, so i just wish the commentators would stop saying we have the "flag in the bag"

Geelong have a long history of playing poorly against lowly ranked teams so I wasn't too surprised. Now not having Fox I couldn't see the game so I don't know if Geelong played below par, or whether Melbourne played out of their skin....
Also too, Melbourne aren't that crap, they've just had more than their share of bad luck lately.

At the Swans / Lions game last week he did a similar thing to one of the younger lions players in back play where i reckon 10,000 lions supporters saw it but the Umpire ( the usless Scott McLaren ) didnt and he was only meters away from him.
And the reason for the turn around against Port was the rain, it bucketed down during the 3rd quarter which played into Brisbanes hands. The 4th quarter was all Brisbane as Port had used all there steam in the first 2 1/2 quarters.

Barry Hall should get 10 weeks for that, what a piece of scum. Staker was caught totally un awares, his eyes rolled around when he copped that.

If Geelong goes undefeated for the season as the so called experts are predicting, if that happens, my prediction will be they will lose the big one in the last day in September.
Drawing a long bow here for my conclusion, but in the last 12 months in any sports around the world the best team (which experts of those sports had deemed at the time the best ever they've seen) been comprehensively beaten by an opposition that s been more desperate, right game plan or through injuries.

Well, did they let go of King unnecessarily? My answer would be yes & no.
They were held hostage to Blake’s demands, youth/future & Kings constantly being injury prone. It would have been very short sighted of them to think that Ottens would never be injured and to place so much faith in West to carry the slack.
In my view, Mooney isn't having a great season thus far and they should play him as fill in ruck/ruck rover to give him a run on the ball while Blake is resting.

I'm really surprised that during either the 2nd or 3rd quarter that Geelong didn't try this as we were getting killed in the ruck & a cold Mooney is a dangerous Mooney (for getting reported).....
That said it was a very good tactic to get the Geelong onballers (little Garry) to rove off the Sydney ruck which I doubted they expected which ultimately won the match.

Not that many mate, remember they lost to Port just before then end of the season & then lost at the 1/4 final stage of the pre-season.
I agree with your above comment that it's not an if, but when that Geelong will lose one, but I'd hate to be the team who has to face them after a loss as I think it would be a very tough task. My main concern is that all in Geelong repeat like last year & leave the lid on, as the last thing they need is to get cocky as we all know that they will spell the end of what's fast becoming a rather glorious time for all Geelong supporters.

Per season comps dont count in winning streaks....most media outlets are reporting Geelongs run to be 24wins out of 25 games....
We're one game closer to our 1st loss for the season, could it be at Subiaco?
Another thing that concerns me is that too many Geelong players are part of this 150 celebration game, will they come out unscathed? How will the Team in general cope having played in effect an extra game when most other teams (with minimal participation) will use the break to recover from injuries?

How well did the Bulldogs go against Richmond (answer:not very). I think Geelong will beat Hawthorn in a round or a final. Lance Franklin is pretty much the whole team but I think Matthew Scarlett could slow him down. How will Hawthorn go against matching up on two potential brownlow winners in Jimmy Bartel and Gary Ablett. Joel Selwood, Joel Corey and Matthew Stokes would also be hard to match up on.

Geelong from memory has lost its last 3 games against Hawthorn and they (Hawks) weren't firing at the time (so to Geelong).... so on parity terms, the Hawks are better suited to Geelong & match up exceptionally well....Hawks have the same midfield model..basically any 15 players can go through there while still maintaining the same competiive intensity.

At the end...on the day if the Hawks put pressure via tackling, restrict Geelongs quick play on and take away the corridor, like Collingwood did and Swans tried for 2 quarters…. it would be very interesting to see ...I believe the Hawks have better stamina than those other clubs mentioned

While we're rattling off stats, apparently last time Geelong went 5-0 at the start of a season, they lost the next 9:eek:
I hope they're not getting ahead of themselves
From Geelong Advertiser
"GEELONG'S Cameron Ling will notch the longest winning streak by an individual in AFL-VFL history if the Cats defeat Fremantle at Subiaco Oval tomorrow night.
Victory over the Dockers would be the tagger's 25th consecutive win, passing a mark held by five other players.
The Cats won 19 of their past 20 matches last season, with injury causing Ling to miss the only game they lost during that period, against Port Adelaide in round 21.
He played in the 19 wins, as well as the opening five victories of this season, putting him on a 24-game streak leading into tomorrow night's clash.
Teammate Jimmy Bartel is sitting on a 23-game streak, after missing last year's round 21 game as well as the following round's match, while young Cat Joel Selwood has strung together 22 wins.
Five players in the game's history have notched 24-game streaks.
They are former Carlton skipper Stephen Kernahan in 1995-96, former Essendon trio James Hird, Jason Johnson and Paul Barnard during the 1999-2001 period and former Brisbane player Craig McRae between 2000-02."

I always worry about these kind of things being trumped up before they happen - it only causes a distraction.
The most obvious recent example was all the hoo-haa about the New England Patriots going 19-0 in the NFL. Apparently they had all sorts of merchandise made in anticipation (including trying to patent '19-0') and then of course lost the Superbowl.
All it does is put more pressure on the team / player concerned.

Why isn't there the same hysteria about Daniel Kerr's headbutt as there was with Barry Hall punching Staker????
In my opinion a headbutt is worse.
Is the incident going to be replayed a million times in the next three days?
Is it going to be referred straight to the tribunal?
Are Scott West's parents going to be contacted by the press for their view?
Is some no-name from 20+ years ago who was head-butted in a game going to offer an opinion?
Is Kerr going to accept whatever punishment comes his way?
We know the answer to all these questions, don't we?

A little off-topic, but can anyone please tell me the price of a general admission ticket to the MCG, and whether it allows you to sit anywhere where it is available, on any level/stand?
Cheers

If you go to the AFL site it will have links to tickets/seating etc.
Roughly $20 for Gen Ad. I think the top level is majority G/A but there are some areas on level 1, (not sure as we always sit in Hawks Members area behind goals in Sth Stand)
Matt, i disagree that the headbutt was worse than the punch, prob because it was caught cleanly on video and the ferocity of the punch, but both incidents are dog acts!
You cannot seriously try compare kerrs incident with the hall one. I think the three weeks he accepted was fair, with his poor record.
I thought the way he explained it tonight on the news was good, he did not mean to headbutt him, however he was running at him with agression and his head down because of the treatment he was getting.
It brings on another debate, midfielders need to be helped, Kerr seems to be happy to be out for a few weeks, the kerrs, abletts, judds of the AFL have a hard time with being held and kerr as an example on the weekend got four free kicks, he deserved about 400!

after watching this game, it was painful to see that Geelong really only played for 20 minutes of the entire game, I'm not too sure about the Freo fans cheering off their team, obviously to them a loss is as good as a win, no wonder they'll not win the flag for a long time to come with that attitude...:(
One thing which really worries me as a Geelong supporter is how exposed our ruck currently is without an experienced ruckman, perhaps it's time they started to move Cam away from the forward line & into the ruck, so the boys have 1/2 a chance of getting the ball. That said Freo's ruckman (who's name escapes me) played a stunning game.

Of course you can compare them - a headbutt is as bad if not worse than a punch.
If it's ok for Kerr to react to the 'treatment' he was getting I ask you about the fact Barry Hall is mugged every week and is expected to cop it sweet.
I don't condone Hall's reaction anymore than Kerr's - I just think it's ridiculous we had near hysteria after the Hall incident and nothing for a deliberate headbutt.

I don't see the Kerr incident being in the same ball park as the Hall incident and I think the tribunal concur based on the sentence!!
There are probably a number of factors that separate the two:
The vision of Hall's incident was far more graphic.
The damage inflicted by Hall was significantly more than Kerr's and this is taken into consideration.
The players involved are considerably different, one large and imposing, the other small and less (non) imposing. The only thing I see in common with the two is the intent.
You mention Hall is mugged every week, who is doing that, most of the opposition are scared of him?

Agreed, size is not relevant to the tribunal decision but, the severity of the damage inflicted is! Also peoples perception of the incident is effected by the size of the players involved which is what Cowboys original statement was about, asking why all the hysteria for the Hall incident and very little for (Wayne) Kerr!!
