click on advanced orders from the front page, then the listing for the twin pack, and then add it to your cart.

Drat and blast ... missed out again. This 11 hour time difference is no good.
As a matter of interest, did the website change to say that these were available for a few brief hours ?
Or, how does it all work ? (for a new person to the forum).
And, more importantly, will there be any more ?
All the best

Hi all
For those of you attempting to secure one of these items, check out the sold.com.au & Ebay websites - a retailer has a number of the sets with the trophy up for sale ($479 no reserve). Ebay looks the best bet at the moment - the 5 currently on sold have the same buyer leading the bidding, but the ebay ones are untouched.
Hope this helps some of the collectors desperate to get their hands on this item.

Thanks.

intercooled, according to the Biante website the 2 models & the trophy were $462 (not inc postage).
And no, thankfully (for the retailer that is) it isn't Heward555 leading the bidding!!:D

It wasn't just me guys. There are a heap of people here at Biante, over east, as well as a few thousand in China that have all worked their proverbials off over the last few months to get these models done.
We are glad you like them.

G'day Nick
Bond's car has a hounds tooth style of insert on front and rear seats....and I can honestly say that I had never seen the interior of the 77 cars on any race footage....so it was a cool twist. :D
There are quite a lot of differences between two.....Biante have really put a top effort into detail with these cars.
Jeremy
Grab a torch and flash it at the dash, I can't believe the detail in the tacho's. The colour scheme looks great, I FEEL LIKE A BLOODY KID AGAIN !!!
Thanks Biante

Yep that Bond car interior was a great surprise to me as well,
and the engine detail with the twin webers.....:D...
But I'm not sure but the boot looks a little bare was that the way they were it looks completely standard no big fillers ????? I know the early gt's were standard...... And Biante have done another beautiful paint finish on them, my panel 'n' paint freind reckons he couldn't do as good a job with a real car...
Peter.
Are there anymore coming???????
Will the certificates be signed by Moffat and Bond?
Also like the Johnson 81 winner were there were some certificates signed by John Frenh will some of the 1-2 set certificates be signed by Jackie Ickx and Alan Hamilton?

None of the Johnson 81 certificates left here signed by anyone other than Dick Johnson. Some people may have had them signed by French after they purchased the model.
On ebay I saw a Johnson Bathurst 81 car for sale and it had a "double signed certificate" by Johnson and French.
Said it was 1 of 10.
Still one for sale on the buy/sell/swap section.
Will 10 of the Moffat 1/18 1-2 set contain a certificate signed by Ickx and Hamilton as well as Moffat and Bonds.
If not Nick Short would be the only person on this forum able get his 2 set cars signed by Jackie Ickx unless Jackie returns to racing by competing in a porsche at next years bathurst 24 hour.

As I said before, none of the Johnson XD certificates left here signed by anyone but Dick Johnson. Someone must have got 10 certs signed after they bought the models.
The Moffat/Bond certs are all signed by Moffat and Bond, nobody else.
Nick may be able to get Ickx to sign his cert but I think he deserves it as he can't get Bowe, French, etc on the other certs. You win some and you lose some.

I got mine today (Mon 16/12) and was surprised at the differences.
I was interested about the bonnet scoops as they were not on the cars when raced, now i know why (as on the brochure) as they were told to take them off the cars because of scrutineering.

PS Nick & Berkut, hopefully you will get yours soon.

Loste, in answer to your question, the c.o.a is alot bigger than standard, and it is a "stonie" cartoon of the two cars autographed by both moff and chesty, no writing on it like the others(apart from edition number).
Cheers.

For those curious about the seat trim in Bond's 1977 Bathurst car, I think you'll find it relates directly to what was fitted by Ford as standard equipment in all XC Ford Falcon Hardtops.
With the demise of the Falcon GT in the XB model, Ford introduced the XC model with only two model choices in the Hardtop range. The exclusive 400 only Cobra models appeared later in 1978.
The XC Hardtops could be purchased only as the GS Hardtop or Fairmont Hardtop. Both models featured identical "Houndstooth" cloth seat trim as standard equipment with the Fairmont also incorporating a fold-down centre rear seat armrest.
Both cars shared some other features including a sports steering wheel, full instrumentation and the twin scoop GS bonnet.

That makes sense brchi17 as the differences between the two models indicate that Bonds car was a brand new XC and Moffats was his ATCC XB GT with an upgraded front clip......correct me if im wrong.

G'day Jeremy, From memory and pics that I have I'm pretty sure that Bond's car was a hybrid as well. My reason is that if you look at the rear indicators they are vertical as an XB and the XC indicators were horizontal as in Moffat's Cobra of 78 and the Federation car of 79. If I am wrong please let us know the full story of these two great cars.

Good spotting Shane......I'm wondering wether or not it is the car that replaced the burnt out wreck in 1976 in Adelaide??? Maybe they had a bare XB shell and scored new paneling etc from the XC because Bonds car has the XC interior and a blue oval badge on the bootlid.....i dont think the badge was on any XB'S......

From 'Ford - The Racing History'
1976 "The first round, the Hang Ten 400 at Sandown... Not only did Moffat have a brand new Falcon, (Operation Phoenix) painted in an attractive red, white and blue colour scheme..."
"The 1978 Championship of Makes got underway at Oran Park at end of July, the Moffat cars appearing in the familiar red, white & blue for the last time before reappearing at Sandown in Cobra colours ... the works Cobras made their debut at the 400 km Sandown round...".
This tells me that these cars (No 1 & 2 Falcons) were XBs turned into XCs & then XC Cobras.
NOTE; The Moffat cars ran with the bonnet scoops in 1978.
I think 'Operation Phoenix' came about when the orange/red XB and transporter went up in flames in Adelaide.
Any more info?

Various sources have it that the 1976 cars were merely updated to XC appearance for 1977, with new front ends, different rear spoilers etc, but essentially similar paint jobs and retaining some XB features. These cars were then updated again for 1978, with the Cobra colours, bonnet scoop and various mods found necessary for racing. One car was then repainted again in Federation Insurance colours for 1979, but since then they have both been returned to 1977 Bathurst-winning livery.

Just 2 quick questions, should colin bonds car have a blue oval badge on the boot lid? as i always thought that the blue oval badge wasnt put onto fords till about half way thru 1978........Also are they correct in having the XC dash in them,or should they have XB dashes?
Thanks

To my ,personal opinion ,the Auto Art XC Cobrs Ixck/moffat ford dealers car is representing the ford coupe's the best it even has camels on them. As a racecarmodel it makes the statement .
How come that this model has the Hardie Ferodo 1000 logo above the #1 on the doors? , my understanding of this model is that it is depicted as only as run in the touringcar rounds?
The model in q. is the white/blue stripped Cobra.
Ferrari Fan,
The reason the Moffat/Ickx Cobra model has "Hardie-Ferodo 1000" written on it is because its the car that Moffat and Ickx drove in the 1978 Bathurst race. Ickx did not participate in any other Aussie touring car rounds.

Got my twin set the other day and I found it interesting to see it stated on the order form for the plaque that you can fax your order back to biante as well as post, I was wondering how biante can determine who has purchased the twin set which allows one to buy the plaque if you can simply fax in your details and order one, personally I have mailed back the tear off portion for my plaque but it does appear that any one can fax in an order for a plaque wheather they purchased a twin set or not, I mean its pretty hard to put the order form through a fax machine so I asume that simply putting your details on a piece of paper is all thats required ???

Diecastdude...most people who have worked out the complexities of a fax machine have also mastered the photocopier.
However if they havent, you can still fax the form as is.

Providing the dealer gets his order in by January 3rd next, and has put your name on one of them, then no problems.

The plaques come out in sometime January like the 15th or someting like that i think

For those wondering about the origins of the real 1977 XC race twins, the most likely answer is that they were updates of the two XB coupes that Moffat and Bond ran in the 1977 ATCC.
"FORD - The racing history" has photos of the cars in 1977 XB form and they show Bond's car as a twin mirror version.
The paint scheme was unaltered for Bathurst with the exception of Camel sponsorship, for which room was found on the deeper XC front bumper.
One of the cars had to be the "Phoenix" car which was built in mid-1976 to replace the incinerated "B52" and which debuted in the familiar 1977 colours at the 1976 Hang Ten 400 at Sandown.
Moffat had completed the last two rounds of the seven short races in the 1976 series using the idle John Goss car, before driving "Phoenix" in three of the final four long races, and the separate Bathurst event. For this reason I reckon that Moffat didn't have a spare car in 1976.
To secure Colin Bond and Caroll Shelby for the 1977 season, and to run a second car, Moff must have pulled a lot of money from Ford and/or it's dealer network. If the door mirrors represent anything ( a long shot ), then I reckon Moff continued to drive "Phoenix" in 1977 having sorted it in the final 1976 races, and Bondie most likely drove the newer XB car. Either way, both cars/drivers dominated the 1977 series.
Interestingly, both cars when in XC form later in the 1977 season form, ran the reverse hood scoops in all races, other than Bathurst. For whatever reason, the scoops were not allowed on any XC Falcon at Bathurst that year. (The Cobra version did not appear until 1978).
As to whether Bondie should've won the 1977 race, he is quoted in the FORD book as saying:
"...I hung back a bit over the last few laps and then moved up alongside Moffat to do the last lap side by side. His Falcon had no front brakes so there was no question of his winning had we been racing."
"I had my chance earlier when Moffat and I were talking in the caravan while Ickx and 'Hammo' were doing their bit. He suggested we swap cars so whichever won, both of us - and one of the co-drivers - could claim victory. Whether we could've done that I don't know, because even though we'd both nominated for each car, I think that only applied if one broke. Anyway, I said 'no' because the plan we had was working and I could see no sense in changing it at short notice. So I had my chance. Ickx thought I was mad!"
