i've noticed the game has been talked about in the most recent model purchased thread so i thought i would start a thread here. I have this game and it is one of the best racing games i have played
fav car i have is the ferrari 599

Well i tried them again and got 3rd in both races with the tuned vette.
Saved enough and got the F40 now.
Man that sounds awesome.
All to do now is the 1 lap dash around suzuka in the f40 and pass as many cars as possible. Damn hard tho. Done it about 6 times and best is 6th.

Turn the traction control either off or very low, makes it a little easier to drive as its best when its sliding a little.

Finished all the events and now its time to save the 2 million. (zzzzzzzzzzzz)
I was kinda disappointed not to receive a free car after i cleared all the dealership events.
Oh well.
Im not sure if its worth trying to get all gold in everything (i need 4 more) because i doubt u will receive anything for that.
I only just hooked up the HDMI cable, but the game seems soooo much better. Even sound wise.

Once GTA4 arrives i wont touch GT5 until the full version is released.
Has anyone seen the multiplayer features on GTA4. Makes the game even more awesome.

Im guessing, because before GT4 Prologue was released Speed magazine did a review and they said it only has a time trial mode, but turns out they were testing the Japanese version.

I saved up the 2 million to purchase the ferrari f1.
Fun and very fast. But u cant exactly drive it in any races. Except in the arcade mode.
Its even too powerful for any online race. Which sucks!

I agree. It's to easy to run into the wall at 300km per hour and keep on driving. If there was damage, you would need more skill to win.

Wating for the new map to be uploaded & its free! hope it's finished soon.

Yeah will be good to ride the bikes later in the year if all goes to plan & soon night time will be added.

100% was hard, but now on 101% as I'm getting close to doing all the online challenges!
Getting the x40 stuntrun chain was a nightmare but helped doing it the quarry ;)

hey mate, i fell about a second short of beating it..... all those overtake ones are hard.... and the ones where you have to beat the specific lap time:(

Nah havent nailed that one either.. The timed lap race with the Lancer EVO is also causing me grief.. Ive played with heaps of settings aswell.. Just havent found the right combo..

Turn all the traction and stability stuff off firstly, then when the game starts count to 5 then go. The reason for doing this is that it places the cars you need to draft better on the track, if you havent got the time with 1.40 left on the clock then it aint going to happen.

As for the F40 drama,cheat!!!!!!! On the opening lap go through turn 1 and as you exit turn 2 dont stay on the track cut across the grass to turn 4, yes you get a short cut penalty but if you can get there with enough speed you jump to position 6 and much much closer to the front allowing you to get P1.

I think the update was just to fix a few little glitches,yes the ferrari f1 is in the original game and the prize money hasn't changed

I had the demo on my system for the last few weeks and loved it that much i have ordered the full version and am just waiting on the post form Hong Kong to arrive.
The demo only had 3 types of racing, Touring Cars, American Muscle Cars and Drifting but i believe the full version has a lot more including open wheelers.
I prefer to play online as the opposition is more life like and make mistakes etc.
But you also get the odd knob who is just on there to cause as many crashes as he can.
My top 3 games are Dirt/Colin McCrae, Grid and GT5 in no particular order.

I think its definately a buyable game. Like you say its no GT but still is a good game. Im loving the demolition derby.. :D

Coming back to GT5 Prologue for a second....

I don't have this game because I will not buy a PS3 until they make the new ones backwards compatible. The 60Gb had this functionality, but when Sony withdrew them and released the 40Gb the PS2 chip in it was removed so that PS1 and PS2 games cannot be played on the PS3. I am waiting until Sony rectify this madness before giving them my hard earned dosh. In the meantime, GT4 is copping an absolute flogging.....

What are people identifying as their favourite cars? What does the R35 GT-R drive like?

Andrew, you will be waiting a very long time. Sony gave the option and people wanted a pricedrop rather than backwards compatability. Sound like you will have to find one on ebay

A bloke from Harvey Norman (so it's likely to be true then.... ;)) was reckoning by the end of the year Sony will have ensured backward compatibility to their PS3 consoles then on sale. That remains to be seen. I heard that with the price drop it allowed someone to buy both a PS3 and a PS2 for the same price at the backwards compatible 60Gb PS3 originally on sale, so that if people wanted both functionalty they could buy both for the same price as one. I don't know if that is true or not (well the prices match) but I for one don't want to have several consoles to play my games when one can do it all. That was the good thing about the PS2 - your PSOne games were no longer redundant with your new console.

It is a seamless transition - you still have minor twitches in the distance, but on the racetrack you shouldn't be looking there anyhow!!:p
What amazes me, is the sound of the Ferrari when viewing from the cabin - simply orchestral!!!:D

Andrew i too was like you, but why would you play games that arent going to be any where near as good on a PS3 as they were designed for a PS2.

The 2 systems are worlds apart and you would be better off trading in your PS2 games and all to move up to a PS3, i know you wont have as many games but the ones you have will so much better.

I take your point, but there are some games from both the PSOne and PS2 that are keepers. I still adore Gran Turismo, Gran Turismo 2, Gran Turismo 4, Colin McRae Rally 1 & 2 (PSOne), get a blast from Shane Warne Cricket, the WRC series of games for the PS2 (well, WRC 4 and WRC: Rally Evolved), so I am kinda stuck with having a PS2. And as Sony have already made a PS3 with backwards compatibility, for them to halt that now annoys me.

Andrew, seriously just keep the ps2 hooked up and get a ps3 the games are amazing especially on a high def tv. I use to think toca touring cars was the bees knees... makes me laugh that I thought it was so good, plus anyway now you will have GT5 to play instead of 4 and you will have DIRT instead of colin mccrae.... :)

gt5 prologue is fantastic! i just got it and almost finished it..:):)
my fav car would have to be the f430..handles so well..however my z06 is quicker but cant keep its ass stuck to the road..slides all over the place!!! anyway great game and cant wait for the whole thing..its almost too realistic..haha

Complete A,B, and C series and it unlocks another which has more races. 680 and 700 are the performance points ratings for the races. Clear the first three and it'll clear it all up for you.

Don't forget the manufacturer races as well.

I think it would be better having some of the classic Australian muscle cars like the Phase III, Charger, XU-1 to match against the Shelby Mustangs, 'Cudas, Camaros etc.

I'm sure there are plenty of leaked and supposed GT5 car lists on PS3 forums.

bought myself one of those tuned lotuses..:):) what a weapon!! also got a MINEs R34 skyline..also great but doesnt handle as good as the lotus or the f430..plenty of grunt though..

just wanted to start a new sub-thread where we can have a lil lap time competition...first one is with the 599 GTB Ferrari around the mountain track..sorry forgot what its called:(:( the one in the Alps or whatever..anyway has to be with the 599 and use the default settings which is sports 1 tyres i think...just pick 'time trial' for this track and all settings are ready..here's my best time:

I've done a couple of laps today and my best lap is 1:11.058. I was on target for a 1:10.9 but had a bad last sector.

If your PS3 is conntected to the internet the game will ask to be updated automatically when you start up. There's nothing special for you to do other than click 'OK'. Current update takes it to Spec III.

New cars are the Ferrari California, Lotus Evora, and GT by Citroen concept car. Interesting to see on the menu background movie the three cars are rolled out of three transporters. There's a 4th transporter there which does not open. My bet is a Pescarolo LMP1 car going by the colours. Might be available on the next update.

Anyone got Gold in the BMW M3 around Eiger Nordwand time trial? It's the only event I haven't got gold in for the entire game. Need to work on it a bit more I think.

Having completed all GT's so far i am keenly interested in getting GT5 when prices become more friendly. Got the logitech with the leather wheel,stainless pedals,6speed gated shifter,clutch pedal and having had the last two wheels from logitech must say i am more than impressed with the latest spec its got no play thru wheel at all, it is geared super smooth and quiet and the pedals are built like a brick s**t house absolutely bullet proof and no issues with sticky brake pedals caused by the somewhat dodgy sensor and wiring as on the last wheel which i used to have to pull apart every few weeks to align the position sensor and wiring in the clumsy holder they have used. The wheel they brought out for GT3or4 is sweet but pedals inevatably break long b4 the wheel hence i still have as new in box wheel an busted pedals, did little search 4 parts or replacement pedal box but no luck. With the cost and reliability issues i had i thought would be best to get the latest available,hit the guys up 4 discount i did and got 4 nearly100buks off.

Rich that is my next challenge, its the only track i dont have the top cup on.

For some reason i have trouble getting the second hairpin just right as i either bog the car down or hang the back end out to far which slows me down and on the wrong line for the next turn.

I managed to pick up the gold shortly after making that post. Have gold in every race now including the manufacturers championships.

I love the game. Just hope when the full game comes out you can create your own races and invite friends to race against rather than the current method.

I'm currently 5th fastest in the world in time trial around the Fuji GT track (without the chicane where Massa nailed Hamilton) in the Audi R8. Not a particularly great time but still in 5th is ok. May have been knocked back a bit by now though. I guess it's just not a popular track/car combo. Give it a go everyone see how you go.

yep, you win quite large amounts for winning. although winning is hard, people are good, and people are dirty. theyll bash you off mid straight and stuff, totally frustrating.:mad:

I've only started playing online this week. In all my time playing online so far I've only come across a fellow Aussie once. I've Couple from the UK and NZ but mostly European players. Even when you come dead last you get money (I was doing that a heap early on) but I am now winning races so I must be doing something right.

yeah.... the money is good for coming last in the higher level races!!!

i finished 4th in a ferrari f2007 race and earned something like 33000 credits haha.

Has anyone won the F40 one lap race at Suzuka in the S class races? You've gotta be a bit forceful but it's not that hard to do. Winning is 50k, second is 48K. about 2 mins work can earn the bucks very easily.

Also, I'd recommend not buying the F2007 until after you have won all of the races. Much nicer cars to buy that are actually useful in races. Try the Tuned Corvette to win the 750pp races in S class. Easiest to win that I have found.

Ok guys another Lap Challenge on a track i love with a car i love.
Don't know what it is called but it is the SECOND S Class event. Can only have 680 points i think. Car to use if the Amuse Honda S2000 Turbo and yes there will be others on the track. Tune it as you like! My best is around:
1:46:00 but cant remember exact..will try again later

Think it is Fuji Speedway. Also when you do time trial you cant tune your car but anyway maybe its better that way. Will give it a go later

The Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo is a great car to use. I used this car for that race and beat it.

Now I have GT5 Prologue I can join this discussion.

Some observations:

Firstly, I struggled badly with anything 2WD when I had the handling set to "Professional" (the Corvette was a pig) but as soon as I turned it to "Standard" the game is so much easier I could laugh in comparison. Does anyone else find this? Races I couldn't get even close to winning with "Professional" handling on are now knocked over pretty quickly with "Standard."

The R35 is an absolute rock solid weapon. The only disappointment is the sound of it - it is muted and very aurally unexciting. I am slowly building up my credits but have a very small garage at present - the only Ferrari I have is the F430. Does anyone have any cars they recommend for any reason - and why?

What views do people drive with? I use the bonnet view as I can place the car so much better, but I do like the in-car view.

And the replayes are disappointing. The driving seems to be 60fps while the replays are only 30fps. I think the replays in GT4 were as good or even better. Admittedly this is only a Prologue game but still.....

Thanks Chris. I only have the Corvette Z06 of that list. It is bloody fast but in professional mode it is ridiculous trying to keep it on the track with traction control off.

I never drive with the traction control on. I also must be in the minority as I could hardly tell the difference between professional and standard. I didn't invest too much time trying to find the differences out, maybe if I go back and try for awhile I may find it harder. My favourite car is the Cappucino......okay only kidding its the Ford GT at the moment but I've only been buying cars that are essential to passing events so haven't tried much really. I use the view where you see just the road and nothing else, the interior view is ok but the rest are useless for me. Is everyone using wheels or controllers? I've only tried a controller once but I reckon it would be an awful lot harder to pass everything with the controller

Shows you how bad I am at it then! I am pretty bad. So far I've got all golds in C and B class, all golds in A except three events I think. I haven't tried much in the S Class yet but I do have gold on the ones I've tried. I struggle with the dealer events and I also had a fair bit of trouble on the slipstreaming ones.

Finally earned the 2 million credits to buy the F2007 Ferrari F1 car. Not a bad piece of kit either. I assume if you download a patch the steering wheel display will appear?

I was surprised however with the 'sluggish' initial turn in on the F2207. I expected instant turn in but it is a bit slow before building and handling on rails. Or is that just me?

What I didn't like was that if you were at 1,999,999 credits and even if you won a 35,000 credit race, it will not let you earn more than smack bang on 2,000,000 credits. So you buy the F2007 and it wipes you out completely. That's frustrating.

Ive had the ferrari for ages. Never been able to use it online or in any race. There was an early update that gave a digital steering wheel display. All ive been doing is racing a ferrari california around daytona race track on the online expert challenge. Cant seem to get under 1min 51sec limited to 650pts.....Ive got way too much money and not many cars to buy.

Run through the stage 2 and 3 updates. Improves the turn-in of the car a huge amount. Much better to drive but still relatively pointless to own.

Great game, easy to get hooked on it, especially with the steering wheel. Upto Class B races with only about 3 left to go. I have tried so many times to update online but it always fails... Getting rather annoying.

I use the in-car view or use the view with just the speedo/tacho. Do you open more tracks as you win more or is that it?

Finally managed to get the new update, so far the only thing I have noticed is the home page changes, with the date, clock, temps etc... Also like how you can now change your car when doing an event if you have the wrong car selected - much nicer.

There is no invite system you have to all try at the same time and hope for the best. Chances are you'd be likely to run into someone from here eventually. Gotta wait for the full game for some decent online. I use a wheel and I'm still hopeless :)

that is lag. its caused by you having a slow-ish connection, or someone in your game having it. there are various ways to fix it, if you wanna know PM me :)

and yes its stupid having no lobby/invite, but it is Prologue. it would be CRIMINAL if they didnt have it in the full game.

I am intrigued. Big news could be the announcement of the release date of the game right through to the signing of Porsche and Lamborghini as manusfacturers or even that damage has been added.

BTW, now I have a plasma TV, can I just say that Prologue in HD is awesome. I couldn't believe the change it made to an already very sharp game. Now I could see and read the "Race" icon in the tacho of the Ferrari F430 clearly. Unbelievable. I just need more tracks and more real cars (I don't like the 'GT by Citroen' concept either).

Running out of things to do on GT5 Prologue:D I've won Gold for everything now and bought all the cars, so i've been competing with myself in Drifting in the Arcade series:D.

Does anyone know if there is a reliable "car list" going around with all the cars that will be in the full version of GT5?

I've seen a wish list, which has on it every Holden ever made! I wish!:rolleyes:

I Dunno, but wouldn't you like to be surprised when you play the game? ;) Before GT4 came out i read a list that had a VY V8 supercar, 427 Monaro and HSV's. I was full cheering, but when i got the game all Holden had was a VY SS and the Monaro.

I have all gold now as well (but not all cars) and have run out of things to do. The online racing is terrible because you get punted off, and I wish there was a way to have smooth rival cars rather than the jagging about. And I can't compete with Richard and others on here for Biante time trials because those guys are MEGA fast!!!!!!!

The Ferrari Enzo is in the GT5, but really, everything else is going to be pure speculation.

Re the Nascar licence - anyone fancy playing as Ambrose?
