Maybe someone reported you to Ebay? I've been threaten before by withdrawing my bid, the person said they will tell that i am a sham bidder and i have no relation to the seller.

ive been with ebay, for over 3 years now. What u posted was u had a account for about 2 months and within that 2 months u had retracted bids twice allready. Probally doesnt go down well mate. Firstly yes it would look like you have connections with the seller to up the price, and secondly not many sellers would like people to bid on items then retract there bid. i suppose it comes down to ettiqute. maybe it comes down to a maximum of bid retractions, which you may have allready gone over. My advice would be once they reopen your account, to only bid on items that you intend on seeing the selling cycle out. If another person outbids you, well i cant see a reason for retracting your bid and it has no problem with the seller, another person has bid higher than you. But if you are the winning bidder then retract your bid, well that would annoy anyone. So i suppose bottom line is, dont bid unless you intend to buy the item, put in your maximum bid that u are prepared to pay and thats that, if someone outbids u fine, but if u win, do the deal:)

Technically speaking, there is no physical limit imposed by eBay on the amount of bid retractions a user can make. however eBay keep track of how many bid retractions each user has made within the last 6 months and this is displayed in your feedback page.

Now, although it is possible to retract your bid, it is greatly discouraged by eBay and they do investigate not just the amount of bids you retract, but your activity after the retraction. For example; an excuse of "entered wrong bid amount" without a subsequent re-bid is not permitted, and a number of these could have an account suspended. It essentially works the same way as any live auction does - once your hand goes up and the auctioneer calls your bid, then thats it - bid is placed and you cant back down:deal:

Without knowing all the details, if you didnt want it, why bid for it? Retractions dont go down well. just desserts!

I agree, if you have placed a bid then see it through till the end.

Have to agree...it really annoys me when people retract bids.

As a seller you list an item "low" to attract lots of watchers. As bidding progresses and the price goes up, watchers fall away...then you get the most aggresive bidder who has driven the price up heaps request to retract their bid (in my experience it has always been an agressive bidder)...bad luck is what I tell them as they have caused me to lose many potential buyers!

exactly, that is what your watch list is designed for - if there is something you want, put a watch on it first, then if you don't find another item more suitable then go ahead and bid, not bid first and look and retract later as so many people seem to to

its always funny how some come crawling to the seller asking for you to retract their bid on your item, rather then doing it them self through eBay so it doesn't show up on their feedback:rolleyes:

As the others have said, i have won items due to people bidding to high and winning on a "Second Chance" as i went to the limit i had set myself.

If you only want to pay a certain price or are after a specific item then stick to it no matter if another comes along cheaper part way through the auction.

Case in point, i found a number 1 Torana on ebay for $600 buy it now so i did, then 2 days later there was one listed for a buy now price of $535. I didnt care as i got the model i wanted for a price i was willing to pay.

I have been a member of Ebay for about 6 years now and have over 1200 stars, if any one bid on my items and they have had retraction in the past 2 months i would cancel your bid and ban you from bidding on my items
I have sold over a 1000 items and only once i had a problem and nevr again???

so to anwser you question this would happen again in any auctions site

I'm with the majority here. You aren't starting off well. I've been with eBay for over nine years and when I first got into Biante stuff, I retracted my bid on two cars from Traffic Toys at the same time (because of a disagreement regarding combined shipping). Traffic Toys retracted them and have banned me ever since. I don't blame them and I would probably do the same.

Yes, you have the occasional true incorrect bid where someone misplaced the decimal or transposed numbers, but those are easy to determine. 'Finding it elsewhere' is not a valid reason.

If you bid something up to the point where watchers start dropping off and then YOU ask for a retraction, you have seriously impacted that auction.

You're not going to like reading this post, but I don't feel sorry for you at all. In fact I think it's great that your account has been suspended! As Leigh said earlier, having bids retracted can have irreparable damage upon a person's auction. Unfortunately while in your eyes you may not have done any wrong, it appears to me that you've forgotten that when you choose to bid on something, that you're also agreeing to purchase that item for that price (if your bid is successful).

To simply want to walk away (by asking for your bid to be retracted) from a deal because you've bought elsewhere is simply bad manors & definitely doing the wrong thing. In my mind it's as bad as shill bidding, yes I fell that strongly about this!

Hopefully this experience has taught you not to do it again & perhaps now you've learnt to 'do your homework' to coin that phrase. I know it's so easy to get caught up in the buzz & thrill of the chase. Heck I'm sure we've all placed bids & then thought afterwards "why the hell did I do that?" I know I have, but I've never had a bid retracted & even completed the deal as I've felt it was my own stupid fault. On eBay you word is your bid & so if you can't honor your word, then I suspect banning people whom chose to do this is a good thing as it's makes the place that little bit safer for both bidders & sellers.

I have no doubt that you may be a good person with good intentions, but in this instance I agree with the houses decision. I commend (not to be confused with condemn :D) you for having the honesty to start such a thread, knowing full well that the responses my not be rosy. :2thumbsup:

Agreed...

Only time I've retracted a bid was when I accidently added an extra zero on the end of my maximum bid after I'd had a few cold ones, upon realising retracted that bid and put a bid for the correct amount I was willing to put on as a maximum (i don't think a basic 8 channel audio mixer is worth $4000..:D)

only once have i retracted a bid,

that happened after the person selling the computer my son was interested in changed the description,
we contacted the seller about this and their reply was very vague and not to the point. so i asked another question regarding this item,
same sort of reply.
on further investigating the seller and their other items i discovered that others were having problems nearly the same as mine.
contacted ebay and they suggested i retract the bid as the description had changed.
this i did and shortly after all this sellers item were retracted.
this is the only time i have retracted a bid
do your home work , see how much your are willing to pay, is the item as described ,if in doubt ask a question.
if unsure don't bid

& you brag about picking up all these models cheap & have mucked around all these other sellers & other bidders in the process. It's people like you that make me stay away from Ebay. You sound like the type of person that would pull out of selling something also if you didn't make money on it. Nothing wrong with picking up a legit bargin but manipulating the situation is like the lotto man rigging the draw! :thinking2:
