Hi all, just wondering if anyone can help me here? A mate of mine has a 1:18n scale model of a VH HDT Commodore.
I have seen articles on the real car that looks absolutely horny, but, I cant seem to find the manufacturer of this scale model. Any details on this would be greatly appreciated.
THanks heaps
Ben

Just remembered this thread and thought I moght try my luck again since we have a few new members. I have seenit in a Unique Cars magazine sometime last year. The car was from WA and is red (the real one that is) it had the Imscher alloys on it like the VC HDT cars.
Can anyone help? I no longer have the magazine to get the pics.

The car I think you are talking about is in Australian Muscle Car magazine No 3 on page 68.
The 1982 Brock Commodore Wagon (build #591, red in colour).
The article mentions the Unique Cars ad and it was for sale at $10,900.

I don't know about the model, but I have driven the actual car.
All Terrain Traders (of Bayswater in Perth) had a VH HDT Commodore wagon for sale last year. I checked it out, but found it to be in very average condition considering the $10k asking price. The drivetrain was tired, the paintwork untidy and the interior in need of a retrim.
There were a number of these VH HDT cars produced which predated HDT's SS versions. The cars were retailed in Perth through Metro Motors Holden and Melville Motors Holden and were based on your basic VH Commodore SL sedan and wagon, probably supplied to HDT by Holden in BT1 Police spec. The cars that I saw in stock back in 1981/82 were all painted solid yellow or solid red and featured standard SL interiors in a light tan colour (with brushed nylon cord trim) and brown loop pile carpet. The only other variation in the interior that I recall was the full instrument dash.
Under bonnet was a Group 3 spec 5 litre V8 and the choice of manual or auto trans (All Terrain's red wagon was an auto). The body kit utilised leftovers from the VC HDT, being the front spoiler and wheel arch extensions, and the rear spoiler on sedan versions. The wheels were the same 15" silver Irmschers as fitted to the VC HDT cars.
These VH HDT specials did not feature any eyecatching stripes or large name decals and were therefore more understated than the VC HDT, except for the bright paint colours.

My friend has found out where this model came from.
It was a special order car manufactured in 1993, manufacturer not stated but there were 10 or so made all in red and each originally came in a wooden box packed with foam and tissue paper. He no longer has the box but has got a docket that he is currently trying to restore to find who the retailer was.
From what we understand they are a desirable addition to anyone who owns or has owned a Brock of some sort over the years.
