Hello everyone !!

In the year 2000 i was in germany and came across a shop filled from the floor up in model cars, trucks, planes, etc etc. I was really impressed by the models and wanted to start a collection of my own ! But when i got back home to Australia i couldn't find anywhere close to me that sold even close to the range this shop in germany had. So i gave up... And now here i am, at a website full of aussie model enthusiasts !!! Only took me 2 years to look on the net !!

So anyway, I am thinking i would like to start a collection... and perhaps order everything from this site, which seems to be quite a good one. I was wondering, what do you all do with your cars ?? just collect them and put them in a cabinet for diplay or something ?? And if anyone has any tips, hints, "good first buys" etc for a new prospective model collector, please please please tell me !!!!! Thanks for your time,

Thomas :p

You are asking pretty general questions. What do you want the collection for? Pleasure or investment?
What is your preference? Street or race? Planes, trucks, tractors etc.?
Australian or overseas? There are so many questions.
1:18 or 1:43, or even 1:64, or anything in between?

Make your decision about what you would like to have, and start from there. I find there are no hard and fast rules, you either collect by theme (ie. F1, WRC, Australian muscle cars etc.), or by what you like.

Generally, anything Biante produces is good quality. You can't go wrong with their product, so, that may be a good place to start. Their range of 1:18, 1:43 and now 1:64 are very well built, have some significance to Australia's motoring history, and as an added bonus, hold their value well.

I personally display my models (I buy them to look at them, not hoard away), while others probably just keep their's boxed.

Good luck in starting on a great hobby (or obsession!)

Cheers,

Andrew

I'd agree with Andrew, Biante have some great models, make sure u choose what U want to collect though, everyone has their own opinion on what is best, look for the cars u want, search them out- there are heaps of model shops in OZ, and on the net, not to mention Biante themselves, keep at it and soon u'll have great display pieces.

By the way, all of Prodrives models are GREAT, look and quality! that's just a plug by the way lol :)
