Sorry to hack into your thread MarkHM but i didn't want to start another one. Heres mine.

A 1:18 scale plastic Ford escort rally car. It is a pullback car which was included when i bought a few 1:18 cars. I resprayed it but the fog lights, rear spoiler and window frames are unfinished.

It is for free, all you need to pay is for postage. First in best dress.

i think all these threads are starting to get a little bit silly, perhaps it might be better off putting things you no longer want in the buy/swap/sell section of the website :)

All this stuff is for free. And what is the disadvantage? MARKHM is being generous to forum members and yet you are telling him its the wrong place to do it.

Buy/Sell/Swap is on the website for a reason. If all this stuff had of been kept in the one thread it would have been ok.
As it is it is cluttering up the forum needlessly.

As it is it is cluttering up the forum needlessly. Thats why we need a "Marks Big Giveaway" thread. Its probably a lot easier than putting all of the posters and stuff on buy/sell/swap.

No place for Give aways though:(

There were also 'for sale' items listed in these postings. They were very lucky not to be deleted for this reason and have been edited.
This forum has strict rules. Mark was providing a service so a blind eye was turned.

Wayno,

Perhaps the BSS should include a give away section then so no one inadvertantly breaks rules which I feel sure that this was, on MHM's part, perhaps not others.

What about the suggestion?

I will raise the issue with Biante and see what can be done Ken.

Alternatively you could take it up with them yourself Ken...

It's not like Brad and Wayne are paid to do what they do...they do it out of their own goodwill.

...and no point arguing with them about what should or should not appear on this forum...they are merely enforcing rules set by others...

Well why don't they go and edit all the off topic & hijacked posts first, before they start on this..........
Talk about kick a gift horse in the mouth...sheesh, what over, a dangerous reference to some business cards !!! What a joke.

So you fully expect your post to be deleted then...as it's completely off-topic!

They do what they have been asked to do...you have a problem with that, I suggest you take it up with management...

Too many fools shoot the messenger, or in this case the volunteers, who are only doing what they have been asked to do for YOUR benefit...

We've already seen several volunteers throw the towell in because of people like you...

Still didn't answer the question about the other stuff, because the problem is too big.

Delete the post if it makes you feel any better !

I've moderated a forum before, it's not that hard and you need to be flexible with rules and their interpretation.....
Go back and look at the posts, Give aways do not really contravene anything and it is for the members benifit in the end.

I didn't answer any questions I have no control over...you seem to think that I have the ability to delete posts:confused:

But what you see as a problem, I have no problem with...

Every forum is managed differently, the forums that I don't like the management of, I don't visit...

Thank you for your valued opinion. We will have to agree to disagree on this point.
Fact - forum rules were breached as they stand. We didn't set the rules, but we have a job to do in enforcing them. I'm sorry if that upsets your delicate sensibilities.
We have tried editing 'off topic' posts before and have been flame grilled for that as well.
It seems you're damned if you do, and damned if you don't.
I have not deleted your post as you are entitled to your opinion and this is a public domain.

Nothing wrong with the concept, just the application could of been better.

Like Holdennumber 1 has said the biggest problem is that this across the forum in several thread, 1 big thread would of been best.

:furious3:

As you seem to be the most vocal on this I will explain it as best I can. The reason why Marks post's in this thread were edited was because they contained items which he was advertising items for sale to revisit the forum's rules on advertising. (Please revisit the sticky (http://forums.biante.com.au/announcement.php?f=3) at the top of the thread)

If we were to be black & white on the enforcement of forum rules then his posts (which were edited) should of earned him a 1 week ban for the forum - would you have preferred that we'd done that and then deleted the offending thread/s which breached the rules???

Possibly not, which is why common sense was used and his posts were edited (to remove the breach of rules). What your now aware of is that Mark was also sent a pm telling him of this (which is what happens when post/thread are edited on the forum) & he didn't have a problem with it!

Whether you agree with the rules or not is irrelevant, they are the rules of the forum & if you don't like them or how they are enforced, then you have two options.

1. Report the post/action to the Moderators & Biante by clicking on the triangle located in the top right corner of each post.
OR
2. Don't participate.

As was said earlier by another member, the moderators on the Biante forum are volunteers and do the very best they can. Yes they are not perfect & will not always get the call 100% right, but please don't think that their actions are done without any thought or consideration as that is very wide of the mark.

cheers. :)

To the Mods & Biante,

I have said in the past, that I think that it would be good to have a "buy/sell/swap" section on the forum, so members can put up there items.

When we deal with people on the BSS section on the Biante site, it's a bit like ebay, where we don't know the person, whereas if it was on the forum, where we get to know each other, we know who we can, or can't trust etc......so some people would feel safer to deal

I have seen a BSS section on various forums (including one forum where there is a thread for people to post an item that they re watching on ebay, so no-one "treads on others toes" so to speak).

Anyways.....these are just my thoughts

Cheers

Codie
