I am thinking of you mate.
That train is awesome. The next street over from me there is a huge park that runs these types of trains for the kids. They have a couple of little steem trains aswell. I hope you get it on a track and enjoy it. They are works of art.

I use to go there racing slot cars and my father did race boats as well. and the trains are great fun. to buy one of these is about $10,000 plus dollars to buy one .

Wazza try around $30,000+, Dad built me a 1/24th scale slot car track 35 years ago from sheets 5mm timber, in doing that he lost 2 fingers on the buzzer, but I had the best slot car set in town it was 4 lanes and filled a single car garage. I remember I found his fingers the next morning, but it was to late to sew them back on. The tales my dad told my kids about how stumpy and stumpy became.

Same here Scott. He must have been a very clever man. I am very sorry for your loss. Tell us a bit more about the loco. It obviously was his pride and joy.
Is it made of metal and steam driven or a two stroke and was it based on a particular model? It certainly isn't a gogomobile "dart" Is the GWR Great Western Raiways ?

Barnart, I am very sad to hear of the passing of your dad. I hope you and your family are holding up well. I also hope it wasn't unexpected so you had a chance to say goodbye.

Your father was a very skilled man - that is a beautiful and irreplaceable piece he built. Losing two fingers clearly didn't stop him building such a magnificent locomotive from scratch. That is a wonderful reminder of your dad and his abilities. We all know it will be cherished.

All the best.

Scott, so sad about your dad. I still pick up the phone every now & then to ring my dad & have to hang up when I realise hes been gone over 8 years but that just means they are always in our thoughts.

When you feel like it Im sure we would all love to see & hear more about your Loco.

Cheers David

Condolences Barnart.

That is certainly a beautiful model.

A friend of mine's dad, who also passed away prematurely, also built a very similar model. These people have amazing talent. I'm guessing the same as your father, my friend's father actually scratchbuilt everything, including every screw & nut. In fact the only thing that he didn't make were the wheels, which were cast but still had to be machined. Sadly he never got to fire his up, he only got to do an air pressure test.

All the best.

It runs on a 7&1/4" track with steam, Dad made all the wooden paterns which were cast in India due to cost savings. Frame and body is in steel, with a lot of brass & cooper parts. It was then painted in 2 pack by a local panel shop. Great Western Railway correct, the name Dart was a real engine name in England.

Awesome train mate, my neighbour has built a few of them over the years, he is in a club of some sort. He is currently building one at the moment and it is fascinating watching it come together. He has even started building a track around his back yard. My Daughter went for a little run on the track a few days ago (its only half done).
