Aussie Bathurst cars rule!
Who would like to see the Bathurst top three (podium) finishers in 1/43 scale?
The idea is to sell them as a limited edition set for each year...would look great in any collection!
Even though I am a fan of 1/18's, this would create a more affordable oppurtunity to collect these classics, without the expense.
Cheers

i like the idea
but......
how do you work out a limited edition 1:43 three model package will be cheaper than one 1:18
(if you consider some models might be one offs)

Your question is fair enough.
On the subject of costs comparing 3 x 1/43's to a 1/18...this idea would allow you to collect those models that you may not wish to have because of the expense.
Such as myself...a true 1/18 convert, it would give us all an option to collect in greater numbers and give your Bathurst collection a greater depth in historical value.
Bathurst podium sets?
I have the Bathurst 1977 podium set in 1/43 already.
I got the Trax Moffat 1-2 set and recently released Perkins/Janson Bathurst 3rd place A9X and now I got the set.
I've nearly got the 1972 podium set.
I've got a Trax HDT torana set(Bond car DNF'd on lap 2) with winning Brock car,FM models French GTHO(limited 75) but theres still been no release of the Doug Chivas 3rd place Valliant Charger E49(the best result for a Charger at Bathurst ever).
There was a story done on the Chivas 72 Charger in a older Australian muscle car mag so Biante should make this car.

Hey, that sounds pretty good SWRT...I have the trax 1 2 3 finish cars from 71', Moff's 65E and the twin set of GHTO's (62E and 57E cars).
Even though the quality is not as good as the other makes, they still sit very well with the 1/43 and 1/18's of Biante/Autoart.

Sounds good, I have decided to get the Bathurst winners in 1:18, but would consider the 1:43 sets...although if a team cam in the top 3 was made by someone else then that would blow that idea out the window :(
I am trying to get the top 3 podium finishes in the ATCC.
So far I have
2002 (when skaife + murphy are released)
2001 (top 5)
2000 (all 1:43 Holdens released by CC)
1999 (need ingall slx + seton as seton came =3rd with Skaife)
1998 ...none...
1997 (2-5, missing seton)
1996 (top 3)
Although the Ingall car from 2001(2nd place) from CC looks out of place among the BIANTE 1:43s but still looks cool.
I was even thinking about making my own little podiums...
Will post some pics of my 1:43 collection once I get home :) they look quite good.

Look forward to the pictures...If the sets did take off, it would be fitting to display these cars in a grid like podium box...that way they would have an exclusive appeal about them.

one more after this...
If the Chivas 72 Bathurst charger is made I"d nearly have the top 5 from the 72 race.I'm getting the Leo Geoghagan orange #2 Charger soon which came 4th in the race to go along with both HDT Toranas and Moffat/French GTHO's.
I have the Geoghagan/Geoghagan 1967 2nd place GT and might get the XR GT 25th anniversary box set containing the Firth/Gibson winning XR GT so I have the top 2.
What the the top 3 results in 1967,68,69 and 70?

Go into the group results and click on each year...sure hope this helps.
Thanks tbgatos,
I might go and get the Trax set with 2nd and 3rd place cars from 1971.
www.gatewaymodels.com.au have the Palmer/West 2nd place 1968 car.
A Biante podium set of all 1968 podium car would be great with 1st Mcphee/Mullholland,2nd Palmer/West and 3rd Roberts/Watson Holden Monaro GTS327's.
Will Autoart do Alfa 1600 GTV's in 1/43?
If so,then the Chivas/Stewart 3rd place car from the 1967 race can be done.
A 1969 set can be done because Biante has XW GTHO moulds and Monaro GTS350's.
Bond/Roberts(1st) and Brock/West(3rd) Monaros can be done with Monaro GTS350 moulds and Mcphee/Mullholland(2nd)XW GTHO with XW mould.

I would love the barthrust winners in 1:43 scale as I'm starting to have diffculity in storing & displaying all of my 1:18 models.
Unfortunally most of them will be Holden's , but hopefully the tide will change soon.
cheers.

hey brad...brchi17
i just had to have a look when you metioned holdens taking the majority of bathurst podiums and it scared me
by my calculations podium places since the first armstrong 500 in 1963 to date include
62 holdens....monaros, toranas and commodes
38 fords...cortinas, sierras and falcons

Oh YES! I'll have what you're all having. Don't forget little things like Morris Coopers, Cortina GTs Mk 1 & 2, Sierras etc etc.

Hey Terrine,
I think thats what ASVESCO call pariety !!!
On a serious note I thought things look bad for the blue oval, but I sure didn't think it was THAT bad.
The winds of change are comming & they're called the BARRA !!!!!
cheers. :D :D

A BARRA is also a fish.......lets just hope it isnt gutted and served to HRT with a slice of lemon.

Speaking of parity, lets not forget that Terrine's results are PODIUM finishes. In terms of outright WINS, it's much closer, about 21/19 or 22/18 Holden/Ford, totally from memory.

Your right Steve,
but since 1993, Holden have had 8 Bathurst wins (93,95,96,97,99,00,01 & 02) & 7 Championships (94,96,98,99,00,01 & 02) to Ford's 2 Bathursts (94 & 98) & 3 Championships (93,95 & 97). I know that Ford didn't have much hope with only 2 main Ford teams (DJR & GSR) until 97.
I'm sure we can all give excuses for & against the above resuts but at the end of the day there has been a very big long running stint at the top by Holden in a caterorigy where it is percieved that the wins should be split 49/51%.
We could argue the reason for Holdens domination of the caterogry until the 'cows come home' but at the end of the day, nothing changes the fact that there is a perception of a bias towards Holden, on the befalf of AVESCO.
As you can tell I love my Fords (don't know why looking at the past 10 years of results - I think I'm still living in the days of the Sierra & EB Falcon) & I'm sure that there are very many Holden people who would argressively disagree with my opinion, but it is just that, my opinion.
cheers.
