Ive bought a few things off there but I can't say the sellers seem to keen to move what they advertise. Slow replies, if at all. 50/50 maybe.

Four Case Reports Below:

Damian was a legend, beautiful gear, prompt postage and comms. Barry is a ding dong, doesnt put prices in, then calls you a window shopper if you (politely) pass on silly asking prices.

Bought one off Garnet, wasnt bad.

Tried to do a deal for 16 Brock cars for $4000 (only one Bathurst winner in that lot), all ready to pay and never heard from him again.

Can never really tell if the initial emails are getting through because I think some people are wishy washy or just testing the market..

I'm with Chris. It works fine for me and although I havn't bought anything there yet, I've had heaps of emails about models. People always seem to want heaps for their cars there though which is why I'd use ebay over it anyday.
Cheers,
Thomas

I have bought quite a few items from this section, When the seller has listed a MOBILE number i have sent an SMS and have been lucky to recieve messages straight back, and the deal has been wrapped up within 5 minutes via the (sms) mobile!!

I've tried a couple of times over the years. When you send an email to the person you never get a reply. Don't know if my email made it their or not.
Haven't used it a while. Not that bothered as most of my purchases now are new releases.

now thats not a bad idea prehaps maybe it could be tooled that you must supply a contact no# in order to even make a listing origianly i was thinking what if it was scrapped and something put in place similar to on CC forum but that would only be my thinking at a last resort situation
im just really getting to my witts end with it and wonder where we can go from here
once again i will state though this isntfor the purpose of word bashing anyone about this and im glad no one has so far

I think all emails are received by sellers, but they probably don't bother responding if they don't get offered what they're after. But i think its a great section, and ive found many good cars there for great prices. As long as you know who you're dealing with, so its probably good for members to post up names of those they have successfully dealt with.

Smokey, you seem to have a few dramas with it. Few weeks back: http://forums.biante.com.au/showthread.php?t=12110

Ive said it before so I'll say it again. If it was like the original one that was on here years ago, it worked fine. So fine that Biante had to get a share and start charging to buy and sell by changing it to the crappy "auctions' system.
Something along the lines of the CC Buy,Sell,Swap would be ok where you know the seller/buyer is getting reached.

yeah i know as i said in the first post bought this up b4 i jsut thought if i asked again in a different way and included a poll i could get a better idea of what we all thought of it and if it was time to tool it up a bit to make it more "user friendly" or scrap it for something totally new and as also said b4 that would be very last resort tactic and i dont have any authority to do anything about it so i would be relying on others but i dont particualy want it to come to that

any other sugestions welcome if it does appear to be a widespread problem

Fair enough mate, just an observation. Somebody has suggested a time listed function, I think that would be a good idea and make it easier to see whats new..

Someone is already wanting to swap a Red Dust Lowndes 1:18 for a 2006 Winterbottom 1:18!:D Lol, that'll never happen. Somehow, I don't think that the Red Dut cars will be worth $700+ straight after they're realeased. Maybe $400 tops IMO.

Dont know if you are the Barry I refered to above as there are two Barrys that advertise there regularly. For the recdord I was referring to Mr Mould.

If you are, it might help to put an asking price in your ad to avoid "window shoppers". If youre not, please accept my apologies and disregard. Just a thought.

no im bazzel and i have allways answred my emails , i have gotten a couple back emails that is . 1 thing i do hate are bloody tyre kickers, i reckon i you want something and you got the details then go for it espescialy if they have a good record for selling good quality models , better than ebay i reckon . some times i have not put the prices in (not often)that was because i was open for any offers , but im all for must put prices in .
if you dont no what they are worth either look on ebay or ask on here there is allways some 1 to help . anyway guy good luck on future buying , and no its not me you are refering to (i hope) lol.

If someone puts in a Wanted ad, I let them know what I have and to make an offer as I reckon the buyer knows what he wants to pay and its correct value.
Lets be honest, we want to get the most we can for anything in life we sell, but asking for more often results in less!

Absolutely, but also we want the best price for something when we buy it which in itself brings a flaw into the "make an offer" equation as some offers may offend, especially if using some of the asking prices in the BSS section as an example.

I would rather at least have a ballpark figure to work from because offers are pretty ambigous, as are EOI which are essentially "I wonder what my collection/item is worth or what somebody would pay for it" and not necessarily a desire to sell. A "tyre-kicker" in reverse if you will.

Thats my two cents anyway.

I hate make an offer, as you offer the wrong amount & the seller gets upset. Its just anther way of having an option. Put a good price on it as you can always come down.

mmm but there IS a difference between making an offer and tyre kicking, for Eg the 08 bathurst HRT is pulling around $320 if someone is genuine they are going to offer around the 280 - 300, if they are time wasters they will offer 220. That is when sellers get the "brace n bits".

Its easy when its a current or well known model. But if the seller wants a certain amount all he has to do is ask for it.

Yes, i agree david, just like a buyer can offer what he is prepared to pay, swings and roundabouts isnt it:)

BUY/SELL/SWAP works really well for me. I do however, only deal with people who live in Sydney.
