Be very, very careful when you try to buy these as they are selling for some real silly prices......

If you're prepared to wait a month or two I suspect you'll be able to pick them up close to r.r.p. ;)

Also if you can find auctions finishing during the night (USA time) you'll tend to pick them up a lot cheaper than during their daytime

Because kids can actually load cars in that one...

I had a look at a playcentre last night (the other half has bought one for my sons b'day), and I reckon some of the parts in it will be broken the second he jams a car in the back!

Kids are (generally) not as fussy as adults! Saying that, it took me a week to convince my son that he should keep the "dirty" McQueen he got from Maccas...

These seem to be hard to come be for sure.

K-Marts stores here in Brisbane seem to be the only store selling the 1:64 diecast range.

I done the rounds of 5 K-Mart stores here in Brisbane today and they had heaps of Ligthning McQueen but none of the others. All sold out in 2-3 weeks and according to one shop assistance possibly the last, with no more to come of the ones that have already been released.

Can only hope that the are released when Carz comes out on DVD.

I think it's more of a case of the luck of the draw. I walked into my local Coles & found almost all 10 for the 1st release there on the shelf. Needless to say when I told my wife I got the well why didn't you buy them, I nearly fell over :eek: !!! Apparently she likes these because they have 'nice faces' :rolleyes: !!!

Long story short, I've since been sent back to Coles to night to find that they only had 3 left & needless to say after my visit, there was none.

A year ago, Disney and Pixar sponsored a Porsche 911 in the ALMS sereis in the USA to promote "Cars". Minichamps released models of two of these cars in 1:43 which are now quite hard to come by (both were limited to 1,300 pieces worldwide):

Very true Leigh, I am starting to wonder if due to the demands supplies are being sent out in smaller amounts and hence if you fluke a visit straight after they've been put on the shelf, you hit the jack pot :D !!!

Just don't think twice about the purchase as else you'll find by the time you come back they will be all gone once again.....

talking to the chick at Toyworld Rothwell yesterday in Brissy's north and she said that demand has outstripped supply from Mattel (no big surprise) and that Mattel have run out of stock to send stores but they are expecting further new stock in mid August so heads up and nag the stores at that time.

I have been told the same thing from a couple of model shops too. If you are chasing any, have a chat with your retailer that you normally deal with. I know of two here in Brisbane that have placed an order and are expecting them at the end of this month or early next month.

Looking at Hot Wheels as an example, it would seem that 99.9% of these models will be taken out of their packaging and played with, so in a few years having these models still in their original packaging will be quite rare. Perhaps some of you are even buying two sets - one to "Collect" in their blister packs and a second set to "Play" with ?

I got the 4 individual packs of pull back ones for two reasons:
1: cause I wanted a full set and I knew I couldn't afford the full 26-33 there are
2: cause you can take these out of their pack to display and not wreck their pack plus they have a nice packground to put in the cabinet with the cars.
There is a lot of money to be spent on these that is for sure...

I been wandering the same thing. As some of the people that have the cars I mentioned for sale on e-bay are not in the Brissy area, although I thought I saw someone on e-bay from the Gold Coast with them .

talking to the chick at Toyworld Rothwell yesterday in Brissy's north and she said that demand has outstripped supply from Mattel (no big surprise) and that Mattel have run out of stock to send stores but they are expecting further new stock in mid August so heads up and nag the stores at that time.

I am new to all this Cars collecting craze and I just wanted to say a HUGE thankyou to you all for all the info you have provided! I wouldn't have known half the stuff if I didn't stumble on this site.

I managed to have a huge win today when I went into a Safeway (Woolworths) and they had a whole box unopened on the top shelf - how exciting!!! So now I only have 4 to get!! I even managed to get blue Lightning so I was thrilled with that.

Cassi,there are literally hundreds on eBay from the U.S, i just managed to get a few off the one seller , so shop around, dont rush in, check ratings, shipping etc, and if you can get them all off the one person, you will cut costs on postage. Australian sellers are asking (and getting) between $50 and $70 for Nitroade, Leakless etc, i got all mine for under $20au ea (inc post)

Same here in the stores that I have visited in Brisbane recently Brad. They turn up in the strangest places. I was in our local Woolies last week and found three stashed behind some Pro Rodz. I also found one in BI-LO too!

I rang Mattel today and was told that they are expecting new shipments to be in stores mid to the end of August so fingers crossed they actually know what they are talking about.

I have ONLY been able to get them at my local Safeway!!!! I did find some in Big W today and they were cheaper ($7.93) too, but they only had about 10 Lightning McQueens (red). Bummer!!! It is amazing the buzz I get when I find them, only to be crushed when they are all ones I already have...lol.

Same here with the stores I got mine from, tags and shelves reduced or removed.The 2 K-Marts and Target stores where I got most of mine have not much Cars stuff at all at the moment, all though one K-Mart did have all the Movie Moments Packs, but that was 2 days ago. They have reduced the shelf size down to at least 1/3 rd the size it was a few weeks ago.

No use having empty shelves and trying to sell stock you can't get.I only hope they re-release all the Cars as I still haven't found DJ, Sally, Filmore or Chicks in any Brissy Stores I have looked in.

I rented it and played it on the xbox, the movie scenes were good and the racing was arcadish, some parts were hard to follow, but I was glad I rented it, whilst I am not a pro at racing games it was a little simple to me but would be at just the right level for kids though I am sure. I decided to get DJ, Sally, Filmore and Chicks from ebay.

I just could not (due to work hours) be at any of the stores in the hope that I would be there when the new stocks were put on the shelves. Seeing as any of the diecast Pixar Cars don't last long, especially these 4 above (if they have been in the Brisbane stores yet). I have not seen any of the 4 mentioned above in any of the stores here in my part of Brisbane.

The running here and there, the petrol, the time , the frustration when there is no stock. ebay was the answer.

It might have cost a bit more but at least now I have them.

I managed to get DJ, Sally, Filmore and Chicks for $96 plus $9 postage off ebay from here in Oz. Like you say, "from the USA the shipping is huge." If you buy in the USA and then you add postage / shipping , it adds up to about the same as if you buy here in Oz.

I got 21 cars and two playsets sent out from the US in three shipments...total shipping for the cars was $30 US...total shipping for the playsets was $35 US (included a couple of cars).

I paid no more than $AU15 per car including postage...I could not do that from within Australia.

Some of the yanks charge massively for postage because they don't understand their own system. Up to 4 Cars cars in one package can be sent by letter mail from the US rather than the parcel post that they often quote...more than four cars is cheaper to send by parcel post.

When I was searching, I looked for the US people who had several of the cars I wanted, and would send out up to 50 requests for postage quotes per night...I'd usually come up with around 10-12 that had reasonable quotes...

Also search for the names of the ones you are missing...I was amazed at how many times I got a perfect result...Also search "pixar cars set". Several times I got cars I already had, but it was cheaper to do it that way:D...

I even won one auction that was "Choose any 8 cars from the list of 14"...that was a really handy way of filling my remaining gaps...

Cassie, I'll have DJ for you next week;) Will also keep my eye out at the shops for the others you want...I have one more movie moment to get to complete my second set. One of the dramas of having two kids:)

I have noticed that there are quite a lot of the "dirty mcqueen's" hitting eBay. Not the plastic maccas ones but diecast ones. Some sellers are advertising them as part of the official collection, so i emailed my new friend's;) in the states asking if they could get me one. They said that these cars actually come out of a mountain challenge playset that sells for $40u.s and that people are stealing them out of the sets on the shelves or buying,then returning the sets minus the muddy mcqueen!!
I'm not saying dont buy one, just letting you know the details. I wouldnt mind one, but aint gunna pay top $ for it.

Jason, never, and I have looked. I was able to get a Dinoco McQueen in July, that was my last purchase in the shops, since then nothing. Have never seen the green ramone either.

They said they were still coming. Strange how the DVD's turned up BUT no Tin Case.

I pre ordered mine from EzyDVD about a month ago. According to their flyer pre orders were essential, and while skeptical, put my deposit down anyway. When I picked up the DVD today, I asked the staff about how the pre ordering was going and was advised that they would be lucky to get any for the shelf's. It will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow.

I was in Bilo yesterday and they had Disney pixar figurines. They are a set of 24 but comprise of 8 x cars this week, 8 x toy story next week, then 8 x Monsters inc,nemo, bugs life etc.
Only plastic but at 2 bux each, may as well have them. My 1:18 models stray away from my "theme', so why not my cars collection:D

For anyone in the Brisbane area who missed these DVD's, I was at Ezydvd today here in Brisbane and they had heaps of the 2 discs and 1 disc sets with the Cars Collectors Tin ( Tin still to come ) left on the shelves .That was at 10 am Wed 25 Oct.

I picked up Sally, Chicks, DJ, Filmore and Green Ramone today and at only $7.16 each.

And I think there is also another Purple Ramone but that comes zippy-tied to a Red Rust-eze shopping bag. It said on the packaging "Limited Edition". I don't know if its diecast or not. Had different looking wheels on it and different packaging than the first ones.

And yes those other $2.00 Cars are only around for 3 weeks , according to the display box that they were in. These were at my Local Shell Service Station by the way.

It said "3 Weeks only or While Stocks Last" on the display box.
