Bernoo & nitro,
If I can just drag you blokes away from that new model your working on, just a quick question re the HT GTS.
The 1/43 model has a muffler under the boot floor, the 1/18 model doesn't. Which one is correct?
Perry, you can put your two bobs worth in if you like, you seem to know your Monaro stuff as well. Anyone else for that matter.

The HK 327, HT 350 and HG 350 were all fitted with a transverse muffler under the boot, behind the fuel tank (goes left to right, with one pipe going in each side, and one pipe coming out each side).
There were also two resonators (one for each side of the twin system) fitted just behind the gearbox.

The 1:43 HK's are more correct (i dont have the HT or HG 1:43s).
Its a shame that the HT's are so wrong (all over). I made a point of offering my assistance (both knowledge, clarification, and parts/vehicles) on numerous times over the past couple years, and stated that as a club (Monaro Car Club of WA), we can organise perfect examples of Monaros for measurements. My offer of lending Biante original engineering drawings was also rejected. Shame really, but i suppose they get hundreds of "experts" offering to help.

Whilst I agree Perry may be knowledgable on these cars and have all the books etc, what he doesnt have is my HT or Roy Whitchurch's HG.
If he cares to check the model against these cars he will see they are 99% accurate.
Now if he reckons these cars are not good examples of early Monaro's then there is not much hope for the other few thousand out there that have survived.
I appreciate the offer of help, but when I asked for the HG colours, 3 weeks later...nothing.
Ray wandered in and within 45 minutes of leaving, a fax came thru, out of a factory handbook with all the GTS paints, trims and codes.
This is not slinging off at Perry, he has probably got better things to do, but I cant hang around waiting forever.
However,I am amazed if he was so concerned with these 'errors' that he didn't even approach Richard or me at the All Holden Day in November.
Goggles, 80% of the Monaros on the road would have this tranverse muffler deleted, unless they want to buy shares in their Holden Dealer with constant donations to the muffler parts department.
These cars are models of very good examples of cars in Australia's history. Not "Brochure" cars.
Taken to the extreme, the Cobra is wrong too as it had my 8000km car's glove box number (166) on every one. So technically, 7199 models were wrong.

I for one was gutted about that - I paid good money, and got 257 on my certificate, only to find 166 on my glovebox.......:D

The way i see it is that all Model Cars are copied off a REAL car, if that REAL car is not 100% factory original then the model will be made NOT 100% factory original, but it will be 100% correct in regard to the car it was copied off, just enjoy it for what it is, the closest thing you will get to an exact 1/18 replica of your favorite street/race car. regardless if it is a BIANTE or a CLASSIC CARLECTABLE or a BUGARO or a what ever.
and no i'm not sucking up to Biante, i'll probably the first to say something if the XR GTs are not 100% correct but i will still love having it sitting in the cabinet with all the other (imperfect) cars i have.

I'm no expert on the correctness or otherwise of the 100% authenticity of the models being made but i really get off on my daily dose of diecast therapy, gazing at all the beautiful models of Aussie cars that i've seen at one time or another on the roads sitting in my cabinets. To me thats all that matters, that i can have all of these wonderful cars to look at any and all day for a fraction of the cost and inconvenience of trying to collect the full sized examples.

Admin, i assumed Biante prided itself on manufacturing scale replicas of original cars. I was obviously incorrect. I may not own your HT, nor Roy's, but what i can offer is a lot of knowledge on a specialist subject (both myself and a network of Monaro specialists), and the opportunity to access a lot of out of print and obscure literature, lists of differences between actual production vehicles and those listed in official literature, detailed photos (i have 500+ photos of the most original vehicle in Australia, and thats just one car...), access to the members who didnt respond to your newspaper request, etc etc etc.
I stated to you, a week after you requsted the colours, that i was busy, and it would take time to compile a list of external and matching internal colours. You replied with "take your time". about three weeks later, after 12 hours work compiling, checking, and rechecking, you stated in this forum you had found the colour somewhere else.
As for the Holden day, two members of our club stated you would "be over to see me about organising a deal for the club".
You made no attempt to enquire as to who i was, etc, while you took photos of our cars. As im sure you'll understand, i was flat out answering questions from current and possible future members, to chase you up. It may be a little hard to discuss problems with a future model, at a car show, prior to anyone actually seeing it. Not to mention this event was weeks prior to me even viewing a single image of the model. But, i fail to see what this has got to do with anything?? Please explain why this is being brought up anyway?? Im not in the business of chasing people up to when its me they need.
I have not gone out of my way to list the errors of this model in question, as i believe whats done is done. I mentioned on this forum that there were "issues", and there was no responce to my reply from any biante employees. I have purchased this model, and appreciate the efforts of those involved, as without them, it wouldnt be done. Lets leave it at that.

Perry, no one from the club was told "I will be over in a minute". I wouldn't know you from a bar of salt. I didn't even know you were there until after the show ended.
I thought that with my new Monaro on display with Biante plates on it may have indicated, as it did to about 50 others, that I was thereand you could have found 2 minutes to walk 50 metres over to where we were.
I am truly sorry for you if your attitude is that, Quote " Im not in the business of chasing people up to when its me they need."
Now we will leave it at that.

Sorry Trevor, but why was it that i needed to find you and speak with you at the All Holden Day?? Please explain.
I must be missing something, because i had no reason to find you and chat. I hadnt seen the images of the HT at that stage, so it definately cant have been that...
My attitude of not chasing people up is simply because i am too busy to do so. I work full time (42 hours a week), and run THREE (yes three) small businesses. Add that to being the president of the MCCofWA, building cabinets for members of this forum, answering the average of 60 emails i receive per night asking Monaro related questions, and participating in my many varied hobbies, i simply rate chasing others up as a VERY LOW priority. Im sure you understand.

As it was an all holden day we assumed you would be there and we hoped to meet you and say hello as it is always a good thing to meet contributors and put faces to names. That's all, just to say hello and finally meet in person.

Looks like this Monaro saga is getting a tad personal....Believe me model looks fantastic and im sure that the sales on this car have proven that it has been well received by the majority of collectors. Its just a shame to see that the people who have begged for this model now bag this model and the people who make it.
Calm down and appreciate the fact that you have a Monaro on your shelf perry.
