Righto yes i know its a ford but seriously im very interested in what sort of interest there is in my fellow collectors with this particular car being made in a 1:18 the Muir/Geoghegan army reserve xd falcon as i for one would love it in my collection mainly because of its very different livery would certainly stand out but also the geoghegan factor to a legend in aussie motorsport
cheers

Id love to see this car in model form and am surprised it has yet to be done by Biante. Can see it being popular with that unique livery with military collectors too.

Yeah, it would be. Three tampo layers just for the paintjob. And a right mongrel to set out - otherwise some trainspotter or rivet counter (like us) would spot any small differences.

However, it's appearance in 1980 and 81 were different (the camo pattern was different) and it's different again now. So which one is 'right'?

As a 1/43 might be more likely. 1/64 is a bit small maybe to have the full impact.

I remember as a youngster following it out of the car park at Amaroo. They used to drive it home..

That will most likely have been the promo car. The race car never saw the road once it got made into a racer. They might have been driving it up the access road to the truck or something.

Bob Muir had a promo car (an XD with a Phase 5 body kit) as early as Bathurst 1980.

Yes, it would be good to see this sorted out for whatever model that may eventuate.
I'll take one for sure, in all sizes.
My fitting & turning theory teacher at Tafe worked on the pitcrew at Bathurst, and talked me into joining the Reserves years ago, so it would be excellent to have this in my collection.

Here's a pic from Speed on Tweed 2008.

Noticed this. Gives the model makers plenty of scope to do a few of these & create heaps of discussion on here.

What good race results did this car have?

None really, had a lot of engine dramas for most of its life, everyone just remembers the livery.

Frank has had a few wins in it ;)

Bob had a special carby on it for a lot of the time that caused it to run very lean and blow up.

Then he sorted that, had a couple of top-five results. Then a big crash at Sandown in 1981 (that meant a new coat of paint, hence the difference - actually it might have been a re-shell). Then the Army said 'enough'.

Bob sold the car in about 1982 I think. It ran for a while in plain yellow then vanished for a long time.

Frank's had a great run with the car - good on him.

Should'nt be a problem Moxo, it's taken a while to get where it's sitting at the moment, due to the work I do , only really got into it this week as iam on daddy day care duties, and after havin a chat with Ray (Rascot) and the wife, we decided to place it on the biante forum, and let people see and maybe help me out. Car is going to be based on how it raced at Bathurst in 81, need shots of the LHS, any help will be grateful. Cheers Will

If your collection is anything like your old man's, anything made of die-cast or tin fits the collection :p
