I'm looking to branch out a little from my road car focus.

I'm not really interested in the later model cars, just mainly XC-XE. I also don't want to go after the REALLY expensive ones.

As I'm not very familiar with Aussie drivers (other than their names), I'd like to know what you people would recommend as good representation. I really like the looks of Johnson's Lakeside XD and his Tru-Blu XD.

I can pick up the Brock's A9X and the SLR5000 from scale18....are those pretty decent?

Or should I just wait and pick up Moffat's City Ford XB and Johnson's XE?

I'd appreciate your thoughts.

The Brock A9X and SLR5000 look great and are good examples of older cars. The 81 XD (plus its a Bathurst winner) is also a great looking car - any photos I have seen of this car did it no justice, looks 10x better in the metal.

As for waiting for the XB and XE, you won't be dissapointed by the above so why not get them all if you can :D as they are all great looking models.

Good luck...

XE is the best car in my collection. I am waiting on the 79 Brock A9X which is one of the best looking racing cars I have seen.

The Forrest Elbow Falcon will look great next to the 83 XE and Sierra. I am hanging for the 80 "Rock" XD as well.

One of the best executed and showing sensational is the BIANTE Ford SIERRA RS500 DJR if you are able to get one of these you will surely be amazed at the overall presentation of the model
XC Cobra Moffat is another one to look out for.
The XU1 Torana's of Brock are just plain cute and realy do set the tone of what the real car is all about.
The VL bathurst winning car is another one that shows great.
I do not have the old shakers so do not have an oppinion on them.

Brock, Johnson and Moffat are legends here in Australia, and not just to motor racing fans, they are household names to everyone.

To me the most representative cars to get would be ones in which the drivers have won our Premier motor race - the Bathurst 1000 or before metrification the Bathurst 500.

I agree with mustang for Brock - the upcoming 1979 A9X

For Moffat I don't think you can go past the 1977 XC

For Johnson it would be the 1981 XD. Personally I think this is the best model Biante have made.

The other cars you mention are all great, or look like they will be great models, but they aren't models of winners of our most important race.

My pick would be:

1973 XA Moffat Bathurst Winner (not yet released)
1974 XB Moffat Brut 33 (Released)
1978 XC Moffat Cobra (Released)
1980 XD Johnson "Rock" car (soon to be released) or 1981 Bathurst Winner (released)
1983 XE Johnson "Tree" car (soon to be released)

it must seem strange to you that two cars involved in accidents are so collectable.

Because they were spectacular prangs, that's why. Much as I dislike American cars I'd love to see a model of Kev Bartlett's Ch.9 Camaro. You know, the one that ended up on it's roof.
As for models: Moffat GTHO Ph.3
Brock XU-1
Brock A9X
Johnson XD or XE
Falcon XA,B,C Coupe of anytype.

Thanks for all the replies. You've given me a lot to consider.

I guess a car can be famous either by winning or hitting an unmoveable object. I'll probably get Johnson's new XE, when it is released.

I am sure that you will be more than happy with the XE,

FF is right, even though the 83 is my fav model the DJR Sierra is such a close second, both cars look great side by side. I might have to have the Sierra between the 2 XE Falcons.

Steve, mate the big rev Kev Camaro, would be a must next to a Brock VC and DJ XD Falcon. What a tough car and I will always remember it flipping onto it's roof.
