Question for ff,
Do you know how many F40's are there in Aus ???
Last Friday down at the Island, I saw an F40 doing some laps on a drive day (first time I've ever seen one moving).
Gee they sound awesome !!!!!
It was lapping in the high 1min 50's but the driver was taking it very gingerly around the corners & absolutely flying down the front straight.
Something I will not forget for a very long time.
cheers.

I know of 4 or 5. 1 in Tassie, 3 in Victoria and possibly one in WA. Gaurantee there would be some in Sydney as well.

One F40 here in WA ,in the goldfield area as far as I know
There was one here a few years ago on a 12mnd temp licence but long since gone back to Hong Hong
Needed an engine overhaul after the amount of laps (incl me) that were done in it at Barbagallo Raceway :) great fun doing driver training!
In do know who hold the registration plates of F40 here in WA as they are on a collectors door who has a great collection of ferrari's in 1/43
It ain't me!
I do know of at least 1 F50 namely Mr. Lintott from the transport co. every time you purchase a COKE you contribute to him as he carts it around plus much more :D

What was the Ferrari that stacked in the cannonball run in the Northern Territory?.
It was about 5 years back I think driven by a Japanese bloke that killed a marshall by driving into the checkpoint.

That one was also on a 12 mnd licence as far as I can remember
it was written off and yes ,an official was killed
these officials were sitting on a straight piece of roade at a checkpoint setup in the middle of absolutely nowhere on folding chairs and got hit by this out of control car doing nearly 300 km/h spinning!
This was the end of this sort of event.

Mr B B of Hytech Drillers Kalgoorlie use to have 4 different Ferrari's including a rare 4 door a few years ago. Maybe he has this F40 hiding in his stable?

Lindsay Fox has one of the finest car collections I have ever seen, a friend of my parents was his personal Mech, (last time I was home that may have changed) I used to look after the Fox family properties when I was working for a company in Melb and often got to look in the Toorak Mansion Garage, most of the serious driving is done down at anglesea on the old international trucks test facility and now at avalon airfield.

There is 1 F40 in Canberra that I know of, it’s in the back shed squeezed in between the Diablo and the Porsche, but to get it out is a pain cause I have to move the McLaren.
I WISH!!

There is an F40 for sale at Prancing Horse if anyone is interested. Only USD$295,000 plus tax. Cheap as chips!.
Lindsay Fox has one, Tony Noske (I think it is Tony, he's Mark's Dad anyway) has one. A few others as well.
The F40 that crashed in the Cannonball run killed the driver, navigator and two volunteer officials.
I read that the only McLaren F1 in Aus is owned by the ex Australian boss of Coke and he bought it with his retirement package. It was at the GP in 1996 here in Melbourne. It's silver and lives in Sydney.

well theres a guy in perth that owns a lovely black Holden Cruze. thats about as close to a sports car as im going to get. thats if you dont include my VT clubbie (red), Black GTS, GTS Coupe, Walkie, Toranas, V2 CV8 monaro, HT Monaro, and various other cars including race cars. and i had an F40 and 911 too but they had a head on and then drove into a hammer. (dont worry, they were kit models not collectables)
but i saw a lambo and some ferrari (i dont know what it was, looked sort of like a 355) down old mandurah rd (rockingham) my old pintara wagon kept up with them till they hit the freeway :)

Would that be the same mechanic that drove the "cannot be registered" F40 on the road and a tree jumped out and hit the car?
Imagine explaining that to good ol' Lindsay!

Mmazz, I not sure as I don't get home much, when I was back in Melbourne about 15 years ago there was a rumor about the son of a rich man that pranged a Gruppe B Porsche, that had to be put in a container and sent back to Germany for repairs, now at the time I was looking after the Fox account and he had one and the son was of driving age.
I also looked after a lady that owned a winery in Geelong area that had a Garage (Big Garage) full of Aston Martin DB's in various stages of restoration and road going ability. She drove an SL500 as her weekday car. They still make the best Pinot noir in Victoria and possibly Australia.

It belongs ,as far as I know ,to the owner of ELTINS who resides there most of the time.
there are a few other ferrari owners in and around Kal. as well ,some of them do have there cars here in Perth though.
