Just for something different, just wondering what some of your thread names mean. I know some are obvious, but for those that arnt, would you like to explain how they come about ?
I will point out that mine is because i am a Brock fan... not because i got "done" for being .05 !!
Cheers.

it would seem that most of us have some personal reference in the nicks we choose. mine is no different and i am sorry that it would take to long to explain here, but an old one of mine was "12 inch"........
r/peter:D
Well, I love Fords, and had an XR8 that I had dreamed of gettting since their release.
Fortunately, I was able to claim the name for this forum, as there hadn't been too many people signed up at the time.
Having since sold the car, perhaps I should change it, but NO,
I'm now dreaming of one day owning a nice shiny new BA XR8 ute!!!!

Graeme
26-01-2003, 03:59 PM
As with Mark and Lachlan, my name was chosen by joint parent decision. But, most of the credit must go to my father whom I understand persuaded my mother against her more preferred options of Ashley and Nigel.
With regard to the mystery of 'terrine', I have checked out my Collins Dictionary whereupon I found the following definitions:
1. An oval earthenware cooking dish with a tightly fitting lid used for pates, etc.
2. The food cooked or served in such a dish, esp. pate.
I don't suppose this information helps identify the origins of our contributor's culinary name ?

terrine
26-01-2003, 04:23 PM
interestingly i have used this same nick on another local forum for about 3 years and similar assumption has been drawn there.
i am most humbled you did not refer to me as an empty vessel.
anyway try this....i can reccomend it
The terrine is named after the French earthenware dish it is usually cooked and served in, and may be made with either meat, fish, vegetables or even fruits. This terrine is made with chicken, pecan nuts and grilled capsicums and seasoned with spices. I serve it with an orange and onion chutney which makes a good companion.....Serves 8
ingredients........
250g chicken breast or thigh meat minced or finely chopped
250g chicken breast cut into strips
50g pecan nuts, finely chopped
50g whole pecan nuts
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 small carrot, grated
1 tsp mixed spice
1/2 tsp black pepper
5 or 6 juniper berries, finely chopped (optional)
1 Tbsp brandy (optional)
2 Tbsp strong chicken stock
Breadcrumbs (preferably freshly made)
3 or 4 bacon rashers
3 or 4 red or yellow capsicums
NOW DO THIS......
First prepare the capsicums by cutting slices of flesh away from the seeds and discarding the stalk. Spread out the capsicum pieces skin side up onto a shallow oiled baking tray.
Grill until skin has blackened.
Remove pieces from baking tray and place in a plastic bag. Tie up and leave to cool. Once cool the skins may easily be removed from the flesh.
In a large bowl mix minced chicken, chopped pecan nuts, egg, onion, carrot, spice, pepper, stock, and juniper berries and brandy (if using).
Mix well then slowly add breadcrumbs until a reasonably firm mixture is achieved.
Oil a terrine, or other oven proof dish and put down a layer of bacon rashers. Add a third of the chicken mixture, packing it in well on top of the bacon.
Add a layer of whole pecans, followed by a layer of chicken strips.
Add a layer of capsicum and repeat the whole process but finishing with the chicken mixture.
Cover dish with aluminium foil and stand it in a roasting pan with water in it so that the water comes half way up the dish. Cook 2 hours in 190°C oven.
Allow to cool thoroughly before serving. Or refrigerate.
Leftover potential: Keeps for up to a week in the refrigerator.
bit of work.......but enjoy
r/peter
somewhat disappointed no one questioned my previous nick...

26-01-2003, 04:35 PM
Well I am a big rally fan who lives in NZ. I enjoy competing, watching and collecting the models.
For anyone who doesn't know, the Kiwi is a native flightless bird here in NZ, and New Zealanders are often referred to as Kiwis.
I'm also a fan of the Aussie V8 Supercars, and will admit that I am starting to get hooked on these Biante 1/18's. They're just so darn good!.
Hopefuly the diecastholism won't get to me like it seems to have affected poor old Glen....flashing lights and fireworks? :D
Graeme
26-01-2003, 04:55 PM
I didn't intend to disappoint with regard to your identity, however I did figure that any reference to something like a 12" meatloaf might be misconstrued and/or incur the webmaster's censorship !!
Be that as it may, your recipe sounds delicious.

I guess mine is very obvious, eh? Terrine's recipe does sound delish. but who has the time?
zeitgeist
26-01-2003, 09:19 PM
'Zeitgeist' is German for 'mood of the age' or 'spirit of the times'. It was also the name of a now-defunct 80's alternative country band from Austin, Texas.
I could've picked 'Goanna', I guess. I liked them, too.

Mine came about after several attempts to create an ebay user name. It was inspired by my ownership of a 90 VN SS. I now use V8SS as my user name on forums etc as often as possible.
My thread signature of "Built not Bought" can also be found on the back windscreen of my SS so if any kiwis out there see it, thats me.
Again the name say's it all.
I just love these cars (anything FORD)
Bit pricy at the moment for an original but I'd love to get a replica kit to build, they look pretty Hot.

here's a link to their web page

I know of them because they are built in my home town & I drive past their factory everyday when I go out to our factory.
They look, sound & go like the clappers !!!!!

I been feeling the same since I saw his 1st one (the one he imported from the UK) & saw it flying around the industural - is was th quickest thing I've seen flying around the estate (I've also seen my share of rally cars using the estate as a test track during quieter hours).
They must be producing quite a few cars in that factory as every week there seems to be a different coloured cars sitting in the driveway of the factory.
Suprising they arn't that dear considering what they are. I think a finished rolling chassie is around 20k US. Just add a motor.
cheers.

Mine came from way back in primary school.
A kid started calling me Chubby Chub, (im not exactly the slimmest guy) but with a bit of pursuasion he decided to stop calling me it but then he started calling me chup-a-chup, then he left and my mates shortened it to the Chupster then chupster then just chups. most of the mates from school i still talk to introduce me as chups to their friends and most of them and their families dont even know my real name. so if you meet me in a shop or somewhere call me chups, thats what i respond to these days not gertrude.

vt2envy,
hopefully your not in the motor trade & then you won't have the trouble my father went thought when his car was stolen & not recovered.
Back in '93 his XE Fairmont Ghia (with Country Touring susp.) was stolen late one night from Nth Melboure & of course the insurance company (VACC) said it was a inside job from the outset & tried to get out of paying.
After aprox 7 months & several letters & stat decs from various people they finally paid up.
Good luck on finding a new ride.
cheers.:)

You obviously live in a Ford dominated neighbourhood man...
what you need to do is move to a nice Holden suburb and THEN get the new clubby with the insurance money... presto.. no more problems with the HSV :)

XW #901 180mph
27-05-2003, 11:56 PM
Mine is from my recent racing exploits at the Lake Gairdner Speed Trials in March this year.
XW (Falcon) #901 (car number) 166mph (top speed achieved).
Actually it was 165.95mph (267kph).
We had many problems up there with the ancient Mallory Ignition I was using with a top end missfire and could not get it to rev past 6000rpm but I have since fitted a $1200 MSD system to the car and it now revs freely to over 7000rpm as tested at Mallala last weekend.
Have to wait until next year to do the 170mph that I am sure the old girl is capable of.
Also got a picture in the latest Street Machine which has done an article on the event, didn't think I'd ever see a flat black rough around the edges boozer in SM.
Go to www.dlra.org.au for all the info on this amazing event that goes for a full week of racing, camping and partying.
You will need to click on the spot where 2003 would be (alongside 2002) to view this years results.

Just realised I haven't posted on this thread...
My username goes back to the Sold.com days...it wouldn't let me use my existing account (which was sort of like Brads, made up from bits of my name), so I re-registered. In an act of sheer frustration due to all my choices being in-considerately taken by others:rolleyes:, I punched in my initials (LC) then typed randomly...
I kept the same username for every login because it is always available (funny that), and people know they are dealing with the same person...(although I may have to change to lcfp2298 on the CC's forum because I can't get on with my existing login...)
Cheers;)
I use BB as its an abreviation of may full name (kind of obvious really)
I have used ballsy on another forum we all know so well but I don't go there much. Ballsy has been a nick name I have had for years and its not because I am well endowed or gungho, its all to do with my surname. That was all well and good when I was a lad but now that I am a mature age gent, that and the fact nobody calls me that any more I have moved on.

Hi There. All the other names I wanted where already on the race track (forum) so I went the next best thing.
GTHO Racers
17-12-2007, 06:03 AM
My user name is pretty obvious as I am Falcon GT and GTHO mad. I bought a new BFGT early this year and it's a great car but I still yearn for an old model.
I have been collecting framed and autographed photos of Falcon GTHO's and Allan Moffat, focussing on Phase 3's for some time and a number of 1:18 scale models are a must for any collection.
I think I have all the Biante 1:18 race version GTHO's available except for the black historic car. I am desperately awaiting the Bill Brown phase 3 and wait in hope that Bainte will produce a Moffat/Geoghan Super Falcon twin set.
My model collection is very small but still they are some of my most valued possessions.
Cheers

Holdennumber1
19-11-2008, 07:11 PM
Well, my real name is Thomas but I chose Holdennumber1 as a username as Holden are number 1 (quite obvious, I know). I am a massive Holden fan and collect Holden models, support them at race meetings and don't really like many other brands or car apart from Nissan, Pagani, Ferrari and Lamborghini, so Holdennumber1 fits me quite nicely.
And Maq, I'm not just talking about the V8's, so you don't have to call me Holdennumber3.
Cheers,:)

Mine is just an abbreviation of “extra-low”. This was a name that was given (XTRALO) to a HZ Premier I owned many years ago that had air bag suspension.
I’ve always had the view that any car can look good with the right set of wheels and height, weather it’s a base model or top of the range.
I currently own a VZ Commodore Acclaim riding on 19 inch wheels with SSL King Springs.

I think i may have posted just after i joined up but i'm not sure, anyway even though i'm very young i'm a big Led Zeppelin fan and Kashmir was my favourite Zep song at the time i joined up to this forum hence the name "Kashmir" now when i look back on it i think it's a pretty stupid username but anyway.

Not quite. Thats my nickname from school. I was a Rugby League player and I was a bit of a cheeky bugger so a mate named me after Fatty Vautin. But it had a second reason in that I was a skinny lad too. My pop called me Greyhound for a similar reason. All *^%$# and ribs.:p

Not working as a mechanic ATM just a parts picker for a company that sells flex plates, exhaust systems, ring gears for cars and also imports and distributes Pro-One motorcycles.

My first ever forum moniker was UsStonerFan, and I still am under that on the Official Casey Stoner Forum...then I joined the UNofficial Colin Edwards Forum, and for whatever reason thought MinnesotaOutlaw sounded cool...I was always called Min or MO, and then I thought I'd shorten it to Minno...still stupid, but not as much as the full version. And now I'm known as Minno everywhere, so it stuck. SHOULD have gone with my high school nickname of Vito...but ah well, too late now!
