I was just browsing the new car showroom and was plesantly suprised when I came across the new range of 1/64 road cars (and one race). I have found myself warming to these little buggers and I'm REALLY impressed with the detail and accurate shape they portray. Congrats on another line of classics to be, I have my card here ready and waiting.......I'll take the lot...please.

Jeremy........one excited collector:D

Yea, it appears to be quite a line up.

Personally, I just hope they come out a couple at a time (like the early V8 releases were) as otherwise they will get a bit expensive as I've been buying all my minicars from Biante (except the last one as it appears I was a bit slow getting on line & missed out) & the postage ($7ea or $14 for more than 2 - I think Biante has a special rate for these - admin ?) could make them prohibitive if they come out 1 at a time.

Just a thought,
cheers.

Yes I agree brchi17, multiple releases are the go, only I would hope for releases in lots of 4. At $8 postage per package it works out at $2 ea. model, which I think is reasonable.

Yep, 4 new releases every two weeks. That works out at only 104 releases a year, the cost of which works out at only about $1300 a year....... C'mon admin you can do it. The skys the limit with these little beauties.

You know Matchbox were making 5,500,000 models per week at one stage. So, you know, 12000 - 16000 1/64 models every couple of weeks would be nothing to you Super model making Man.

By the way, did I tell you I really like these 1/64 models.

I wanna get them all. they look great for 1:64. it opens up a whole new range of models. maybe we will finally get a concept series in 1:64 so we can get all the excellent concept cas like the

GTR-X, Hurricane, ECOmmodore, concept coupe, Sandman, Utester, HRT edition Maloo, Cross8, Jack8, SSX, HRT 247,

as 1:64 will be cheaper to produce one off models. im still waiting. please, im begging you. Holden produce atleast one excellent concept car each year and you could work with them to release it at the sydney motorshow each year like with the monaro. one 1:64 per year is affordable. please

brchi17

I'm with you chumps,
I think the minicar range is tops,
I know there small but having a complete set made up of Australian cars would be fantastic to have. I'll sure be trying to get all of them as well.
cheers.

I think that all of these new minicars will be great.

Yes it might allow us to get some show cars and concept cars in the future.

They may be minicars but the detail for a 1:64 model is great.

At the price - yes bring out 4 or 5 at a time.

Can't wait

Couldn't have said it better guy's
I recently picked up the Skaife/Richards 2002 Bathurst Winner and the detail is unbeliveable. Can't wait for them to make the entire Bathurst Winners set in 1:64, that would be awesome.

Yes Damian, and why not go all the way.

A triple set. 1st 2nd and 3rd place getters for each year! I think it would be manageable in 1/64 scale.

You wouldn't have to build a new room on the house to display the full collection and it would be affordable.

40 years worth of racing, 3 models for each year, 120 models

We've already got the 2002 winner and Brockys '72 winner is in the pipeline. Only 118 models to go.

brchi17
29-01-2003, 10:03 AM
I was thinking about how I buy my minicars & they have all came from Biante, but what I found to be a bore was how I had to order them individually.

What would be good (I don't know if its' possible thought), would be an option to purchase all of the new minicars being released at a certain time in 1 go, just as you would a single one model.

cheers.

Does anyone know when we can expect to see some of these models.

I realise the 2002 Bathurst winner is out.........but after that.....

Bathurst podium sets from the last 40 years,
I've got the 1971 and 77 podium sets in 1/43.
If the Chivas 3rd place 1972 Charger comes out in 1/43 I'd have the top 5 from 1972(Brock torana,French GTHO,Geoghagan Charger and Moffat GTHO).
Also got 1st(Richards/Murphy),2nd(Lowndes/Mcconville) and 4th(Johnson/Johnson) from 1999.
1st(Skaife/Longhurst in 4 set) and 2nd(Jones/Cleland) from 2001.
Also future podium sets will be Palmer/West 2nd place 1968 Manaro to go with my Mcphee/Mullholland winner,Gibson/Firth 1967 XR GT winner to go with Geoghagan brothers 2nd place XR GT and Bond/Roberts+Brock/West 1969 Monaro 2 set.

Grubby

I'm with you all on this.

Podium sets in 1:64.

We could have both Bathurst sets & Championship sets.

In 1:64 scale very affordable and quite easy to find the room for.

Maybe Biante could stike a deal with AVESCO so no matter what teams finished in the podium positions they could make podium sets in 1:64 ( under licience agreements ) - This way we would never miss out.

Ouch............that hurt just fell from the clouds..dreaming again

Well we can hope. Sounds good to me anyway

BUT THERE IS NO WAY I WILL EVER BUY A 1/64.......perhaps......

I must admit the future minicars to be released look fantastic. I for one will be collecting all of them. The detail is excellent. Also it is affordable for people just starting into diecast car collecting, whether they are young or not so young.:p

Have a look in the new model showroom.
There's a heap of new minicars on the way.
The Monaro's (CV8, GTO & GTS) look fantastic & the Brock Torrana looks just like its bigger 1:18 brother.
Can't wait to get them all !!!

The pictures in the new model showroom look great.

I seen a list at my local Holden dealer last week and there were 31 - 1:64 cars to be released between now & June. This does not even include and 2003 V8 Supercars.

What a start to 2003.

WOW !!!!!

Hopefully there is a list just as long of Ford's comming as well.

And thought collecting these little marvels would be affordable !!!

With a list THAT long it sure looks like it will cost a small fortune to get them all, but one can dream.

Grubby

Grubby

The estimated dates for these range from Feb to June.

So I think that makes them all affordable over that timeframe.

Grubby

brchi17
12-02-2003, 08:06 PM
I suppose 31 cars over 6 months @ $10 ea makes it around 5 cars or $50 a months - almost a dear as smoking, glad I collects model cars instead !!!

Hopefully Biante release them a few at a time so that we can save a few pennies on the postage.

Thanks again for the list Grubby,
cheers.

Grubby
12-02-2003, 08:14 PM
Some would say that collecting model cars is a bad habit like smoking etc.

But at the end of the day we have a great collection ( or at least something ) to show for our troubles.

Grubby

brchi17

12-02-2003, 08:40 PM
Maybe we could get Biante to write something mysterious on the mastercard statement (possibly a womens clothing store so that she thinks all this spending is really on her !!!) to save us from this predicament
:D

Bad choice brchi17. She's not that dumb otherwise you wouldn't have married her. She's probably going to think either

1. you're seeing another woman
or 2. she's married a cross dresser.
Your gonna have to come clean in the end.

Better still, call them bank fees & charges, no one will suspect a thing, the statement will look completely as per normal.:D

brchi17
13-02-2003, 05:05 PM
Good suggestion on the 'bank fees'

She knows how much I spend on the cars & she is actually, starting to take some interest in them.

While I was photographing them a while ago she picked out the following that she wanted if we went out separt ways.

DJ XE Falcon's all 3 of them
DJ 89 Sierra
DJ 81 XD
she said I could keep all of the AU's !!!
MY red phase 3 & the Devil CV8.

Other than that she said any model which is worth more than what I paid for it, was hers as well !!!

Sounds like she is starting to know a little too much about my so called hobby (obsession).

Oh & did I mention she also wanted my collection of 1:18 WRX's.

I think we'd better stay together for the sake of our model collection.

She keeps telling me "whats' mine is hers & whats' hers stays hers"

cheers.

Nick,
I know what you mean. A full set of Bathurst winners would be fantastic (& affordable!!!) in the minicar scale.

What would also be good would be a Sandown 500 (&QLD 500)winners collection considering that this race's history is almost as big as Bathurst.

just a thought,

A QLD 500 winners collection would be easy-
Ingall/Perkins Castrol VT 1999
Lowndes/Skaife HRT VT 2000
Johnson/Radisich DJR AU 2001
Besnard/Wills SBR AU 2002
There'd be some issues on the 2002 winners because of CC's.
PROCAR Sandown 500's easy as well
Bowe/Waring Auto Art Ferrari 360 2001
Stokell/Tratt Crazy Johns Lambo 2002
The traditional Sandown 500 cars would be hard
last one-Ingall/Perkins Castrol VT
Lowndes/Murphy in 96/97 in VR/VS

The 9 Brock Sandown winners
Longhurst/Richards BMW from 1985

Did you hear that Procar was decided to scrap their Sandown 500 in faviour of a sprint round at Phillip Island ???

I wonder whether they will allow avesco the use of the Sandown 500 name, now that they are not going to use it ???

The name of Melbourne 500 just doesn't sound right considering it raced in Springvale, which is a fair distance from Melbourne.

great effort in your list of all of the Sandown 500 winners, it must have taken quite a while to find all the winners.

We wont be making every Bathurst Winner in 64th..its almost impossible to justify on cost. Plus, some people are greedy and dont appreciate the car is only a few bucks and they want more than the thing costs in fees. NONE of our current Licensors fall into that category I might add.
The Brock and Bond XU-1 Toranas are in production now.
