Just interested to find out who amongst the board users & collectors either makes their own Code 3 models or collects them. Also what is the best Australian Code 3 model that they've made/bought.

One of the best ones that I have had the pleasure of seeing is the diorama of the frightfull accident where the Ford rolled on top of the barrier at Mcfillamy park? and the driver escaped almost without a scratch name escapes me at the moment, Yellow ford.long time ago.
This model has been discussed before by me on this forum ,also a long time ago
There have been aprox ten of these (numbered) made years ago. in 1/43 scale.
There are some real talented modellers around

I have a code 3 cc Falcon done up in Anthony Tratt's Toll racing colours from the 2001 season. It looks great & I bought in on sold.com from code 3 customs. Apart from being a crappy Classic model (blacked out windows etc....) the colours look very good. Now if Biante were to make a REAL Anthony Tratt Falcon, that would be fantastic.
cheers.

The codes relate to the condition & modifications done to a particular model.
Code 1 : Standard model as it comes from the manfacturer.
Code 2 : Standard model, but with slight changes usually contained to the packaging or badging on a particular model.
Code 3 : Massive changes made to the appearance of the model. For example my Code 3 John Bowe Mustang. The car was origionally made as a Red SVT Mustang by mastifo, however Dinkum models put sponsoring all over it so that it now appears like the one John Bowe raced in GTPin 2000.
hope this helps,
cheers.

A little more:
Code 2: WITH manufacturer's full permission.
Code 3: WITHOUT manufacturer's permission.
Bowe GTP Mustang: Not sure if it's a Code 2 or Code 3 model. It depends on if Dinkum has the permission from Masito or not? Anyone can help with this question?

The Bowe Mustang was advertised as a code 3 model (check out gatway model as thats where I got mine), so I would assume that it has been made without permission.
cheers.

You've got to have a good think about what you want as a code 3 because they aren't worth as much as a code 1 (because the're not an origionally released model). I personally would only buy a code 3 if you could not get the model as an origional (& had not been made) if its a copy of a hard to get model I would not get it as they are just trying to cash in other peoples businesses.
Each to their own I suppose,
cheers.

So would a code 3 model also be classed as a Trans-kit? or vice-versa?

That is the actual model that I had the pleasure seeing.
This chap also lives in Thornly and must be the same one (Fireman).
What he is doing lately ,I do not know.

Just for interests sake, the Bill Brown diorama mentioned above closed without a successful high bid, with a reserve of $950.

I have got a couple of 1:43's from this guy and the finished product is pretty good. Only on CC cars unfortunately but they still come up a treat.
At least I was able to get the driver & liveries I had been after.

I really liked the Photoshop job of the Devil Yellow Clubby. Since I can easily pick up a non-COA white one for less than US$50, I wonder if that would be an interesting task.
I am assuming one dismantles/strips the car as opposed to masking in order to paint it?
Can you get a bottle of Devil Yellow touch-up paint from your local Holden dealer? Maybe I could send that through the airbrush.
As you can tell, I've never done this before.

where can you get the white clubby from at $50us? how much is that in aussie dollars? 100ish? i need one for some parts on my senator but i didnt want to pay $100 for a new genuine one.
also its a little bit more involved than just stripping the car as theres all the badges on there that you have to worry about. if you can get new ones made up then its quite simple.

Chups -
It isn't a whole lot cheaper (approx AU$89) and that doesn't even include the shipping. Occasionally, I see them going a bit cheaper (approx AU$79), but, still with AU$30 or so in shipping, you aren't saving much, if anything.

Hey Chups - that looks great!!! What are those seats out of??? They aren't the original ones out of the gts sprayed are they??? I will add the pic to my site later.. time for bed now :D

yep they are the original seats re-painted, im actually looking for seats out of a monaro, ive seen a few VT senators but they are all a bit different, the seriesII on the HSV site had monaro type seats but one that i took some reference pics of had the GTS type seats, if i cant get monaro seats ill just keep the seats ive got, but i also need a clubby/monaro engine to replace the 300kw. so here is a list of parts i need to complete my model properly-
- VT rear window (clubby/GTS)
- VT rear drivers side door window (clubby/GTS)
- monaro front seats (monaro)
- Clubsport engine (clubsport)
- maybe an auto gear stick too (i think from a monaro)
can anyone help out?

Are you sure about that? I thought the Clubby had the
slushbox and the Monaro had the stick.
I'm envisioning little auto salvage yards.
