Compare the Ebay photo to Biante's own. If it isn't the same, I'll step on my Cobra.

I wonder if they even physically have them yet. Lock a fool in early with a high bid and supply them with the car when it arrives.

Obviously this guy has an order for a few of these. By the time the auction has finished, he'll have them in his possession, or he's just trying to rip someone off.

A speculator hoping someone will mistake it for the first Greens Tuf and pay a wedge for it, and sending on the car once he's got his hands on it at the weekend?
Back in the 80s, when the big bucks limited-run supercars (F40, 959, Zagato etc) were announced, people were doing the same thing - effectively selling their place in the queue, but for a handsome premium over list price, without the car even having been built.....

Nick,
Happened here with the 2 Door WRX STi. The coupe was selling for up to $20k more than the dealer price ($65k). You would certainly feel like a mug now with the resale value being somewhere like $45k ($20k less than the original sticker price).

I can remember the same thing happening when the Ferrari 355 was first released. The waiting list was around 18months & some people decided to sell their place in the queue for a fortune.
However Ferrari got their own back when they made a black list of these proffiteering people & if they tried to order a 355 (after they had sold their place in the queue) Ferrari refussed to take their order - now that takes some real guts !!!

cheers.

I can assure everyone that NO store has these cars yet . I have also advised the Retailer concerned our thoughts on this and have asked it to be removed till the cars are at there premises.

This is in for the intrests of other Retailers and Collectors.

Who cares about this guy with the new xe on ebay. The auction finishes after the car would be released anyway. Are you car collectors or are you having a whinge. Who cares who you get it from as long as you have it in your collection. The person that is selling this car says that it is the 83 xe falcon and that it is number 6 in Dick's collection. May be you guys don't know what cars are in the dick Johnson collection. What about the Moffat sets with the plaque on sold and ebay auctions, being listed six weeks before they are released. And the list goes on and on.

I could be so lucky to have a shop full of these. I can only dream of that happening. I can barely afford my addiction as it is. I was just replying to all the comments as I buy some of my cars from the net, as I miss out on some due to my varying finances. I am a car collector, and after all collecting is all about getting the cars you want. The net can be a good thing to get the cars you miss out on.

Carnut -

No whinging here. I'll be on Biante's website as the clock passes 2:00 PM Perth time. I'll have the car.

I believe the plaque auctions were pretty specific that said plaques were not yet in the sellers' possesion. The XE seller doesn't even hint at that possibility.

Acutally, my primary thought was, as a seller, I would find it quite risky to sell something that had yet to be in my possession without making that fact abundantly clear to potential buyers.

The ethics regarding an undisclosed SPECULATIVE auction are secondary, but easily revealed with a question to the seller.

Well, i'll point out here that i dont even look at ebay so i havent seen this, but i think that providing it is a realistic price, then so what!!. I have around 5 "good" contacts, so i dont need to look on these site's, some people dont have this luxury. And NO aussie collector, i'm not the dealer or his mate;)

Okay I can be a seller if you like. Which car from my Classic Carlectables collection would you like to buy, as I am getting out of these ones. Please email me if you are interested in buying these. Whats banana land got to do with this topic. I actually live on the New South Wales/Queensland border, but work in New South Wales. I wont even go there with what the mainland people call Tasmania.

The reason we ask that Sellers to either wait to they have the car or at least state that they are not yet in possession of the cars is to prevent calls from both Shops and Collectors asking "Where's Mine ?". ( Believe me , We would have 20 calls asking that yesterday.) Fielding these calls prevents us doing what we should be which is getting the cars out to shops and collectors.
