I was there on the weekend and whilst I didn't see the crash I saw the car when it came back to the pits and its was certainly a lot better than it potentially could have been - it was sensational to see these multi million dollar cars being raced - will post some photo's when I get a chance ..

At least it's getting driven, not hidden.

And used the way it was meant to be.

Ever think what a miracle it is any of these cars are still around? They were never meant to last this long, they were built to be fast and light. Then they got raced hard, first by factory drivers, later by semi-pros and then by enthusiastic amateurs.

I'm glad the damage is only light and wouldn't it be nice if the owner brought it to Phillip Island next year.

Even better, how about those 917s and the 908 on the same front page? And all those LM Ferraris? Phwoar!

There a family business in country Victoria (Woodend i think) building replicas of the 917K. They look really good too.

Jeez louise, I have had to get a towel and dry up all the drool on my key board, have to get there one day, thanks for the magnificent pics, unbelievebale, one of my very good friends crashed his F40 in Targa Tas once and we all cried at that but the Testa Rossa, Oh Heeeeeeelllll. But as others have said it is great to see these cars being used and it also proves they are not just "touring" around but having af air dinkum go, thanks again for the links and pics, keep it up, more, more.

He has also got some very nice motor bikes and a helmet collecion. He uses most of the motor bikes also, not just for looking at.

I'm with Moxo, it is great to see these cars being driven the way their maker intended.

It's better to have lived and died, than never to have lived at all.
It's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.
It's better to burn out than it is to rust.

How many songs can i paraphrase? :)

Racing an $8M Ferrari makes a mockery of the people who won't race their $200K or $300K Touring Car for fear of bending it.

Few things are more depressing to me than a museum full of racecars on static display, sad! What a waste!

It's sad that such an expensive beast has been damaged, however i applaud the guy for putting on a show and giving the punters the chance to see such rare beasts being driven how they were intended to be...it's certainly so much better than seeing them stuck behind rope and bollards

Never mind the drool on the screen...

Get back up there and convince the owners to come to Phillip Island!

Bloody hell.

What a pity you cannot post the sounds of these cars on teh forum, (or can you?) I could sit all day and listen to them.
A very good friend now sadly passed away once told me you were not a real motor sport enthusiast till you had sat all night at Le Mans and listened to the cars going past. Having heard many of the "Old bangers" in my past I can understand his sentiments fully, best sound I ever heard was the Ferrari 250 LM with Spencer Martin at the wheel at Warick Farm, I have a signed photo of the car at Warrick Farm on my study wall. I did meet Spencer at the first Muscle Car Masters and he agreed the sound was awesome.
