Hey Guys, was anyone there when Lowndes and Bowe went off near lukey heights in race 2 or 3? I remember watching it and also can anyone tell me why you see lowndes heading to the wall, then they cut to bowe resting on his side? they would have had the full footage but it was never aired.. even now?

I wasn't there but my guess is something to do with the director.
I found a video of it for those who have not seen it or can't remember it.

For much of the 1996 ATCC Channel Seven used two tape machines to record the action - one to record a Racecam output and the second to record the output selected by the director.

So as soon as the director switched cameras to Bowe the footage of Lowndes was lost forever. This also explains way there is no footage of Bowe's crash. The cameraman may well of had Bowe's car in shot but the output was not being recorded.

As I understand it, that was the death of the 1994 Bathurst winning car too....

But which car do you follow? Both had major shunts at the same time. If he had followed Bowe, then we would have nothing on Lowndes going in. As it is, by following Lowndes, we got nothing of Bowe's impact.

They were trying to car the roll, as Lowndes was off 1st then as Bowes cars started to roll they tryed to catch it, and just got it coming to a rest!

Isn't the 94 car still around and being slowly rebuilt by a TAFE style college as a class project? Im sure I read an article on it not that long ago

no it is not. From memory that is the 93 car which crashed out (with some help from a privateer) on the top of the hill which is being converted to a replica.
