Just a small question if anyone knows, I went to Bathurst for the first time in 07', arriving on tuesday and found that the track was already blocked off to local residents only. Does anyone know when they officialy close the road off (for this year, 09)? I wanna drive the track first before its closed this time.

Ill have 50 bucks for the win on murphy and skaife !!!!!! Hear, hear!

sadly I had this bug the 1st time I visited the track and regardless of the number of people who told me it was a waste of my time, i didn't listen. Not saying its the best spot, but i would have thought if it was someones first time to the mountain then one would want to view from most spots, and that being the fastest part of the circuit, would be one of them.;)

Going on recent history, you'd only get a model that is "old" unmovable stock anyways...

The Biante tent at the Muscle Car Masters had a few 'unreleased' items for sale, like most team bonnets etc.
There is some old stock (VK's) but a lot of new stock too.

I went to the track for the first time on Saturday. Beautiful day for cruising around the Mt. I must say that bitumising the sand trap makes it just look like a high speed get out of jail free card for drivers who run out of talent. Lots of work going on getting ready for the race.

err, read the context buddy...

A "free gift" is completely different to a "special gift" or an "exclusive gift"...

I can just see the responses now "wow, I got an exclusive Biante Forum Member gift that everybody else can buy too"

Kinda takes the rub off it IMO.

PS I'm sure all the kids who don't get presents from santa would love your comment!

Just noticed these two little terms in the updated T&C today

Q: Can I bring my own alcohol into the Event venue?
A:
• Those people camping in any one of the designated campgrounds are permitted to bring either one of the following into the campground:
* One case (24 cans) of full-strength beer; OR
* One block (30 or 36 cans of light or mid-strength beer (3.5% alcohol content or less); OR
* One case (up to 24 cans) of pre-mixed drinks (6% alcohol content or less); OR
* One cask of wine (up to four litres).
• NO BYO alcohol will be permitted into the licensed viewing areas from the Chase down to Murrays Corner, through Harris Park and up Mountain Straight.
• Any patron overly intoxicated maybe removed from the premises.

So is this the one per person per day again or is this one case for the whole stay ? :(

Q: Can I have a fire in my campsite and if so where do I get firewood from?
A: Yes you can, provided the fire is contained and monitored at all times whilst it is alight. Firewood can be obtained by either Firewood supplier dependant on your location. Chris Smith supplies to the top of the Mountain (Reid & Sulman & McPhillamy Parks) contactable on 0419 017 716. Graham Rodwell supplies to the bottom of the Mountain (Paddock, Chase, Max Cameron & Motorhome Parks) contactable on 0414 322 897.

So are they going to refuse people the right to source their own firewood ?

Leigh
16-09-2009, 01:49 PM
Just take a few non-drinkers;)

As to the firewood, that just looks like advice as to where you can get it rather than a compulsory requirement...

My Answer
Mate, will be same as last year. Unless they give you some kind of POW tatoo every time you bring a case in, how would they they know if you bring one in every trip? Seriously though, how could you be limited to one carton per person for the whole week at Bathurst?

Q: Can I have a fire in my campsite and if so where do I get firewood from?

No, bring in your own firewood, nothing to say you can't. Can't believe that now even those guys with the firewood trucks are being skimmed by the promoters? They would make you pay for date roll by the sheet if they could. Not gunna go on about it, but fun police are becomming more miserable every year.

spoonster05
16-09-2009, 05:50 PM
Spoke to Ryan from V8 Supercar Events earlier

The alcohol restrictions are the same, it is per day so no doubt they will change that line in the coming days

As for firewood I agree with those who have posted so far, we have had an agreement in place with another of the local places for years and they have looked after us well so I'd much rather continue to support them than pay extreme prices from the 'preferred' suppliers

Oh Five
16-09-2009, 05:59 PM
Andrew are you able to post or PM where you get yours from?
Every year we have got our own, although last year we bought off a local and while the price was fair, the wood was greener than Kermit!
Also has anyone heard if each person needs an E ticket thingo, usually the others on our site just mention the name or site number, and in they come:confused:

SDK
16-09-2009, 06:13 PM
Oh Five,
We bring a load of firewood then go out & collect more when we are there. Head to Orange & look for the dried creeks. Always heaps.
We have stand tickets & camp site tickets. I have never heard of an E thingo for Bathurst.
Everyone will need some ticket (GA, Paddock, top of mount, etc) to get a coloured wrist band, depending on where you're camping.

Oh Five
16-09-2009, 08:06 PM
Yeh thanks mate, we used to go out toward Orange, but found a quieter spot another direction not far from "base".

spoonster05

Bruce, the campsite e-tickets are fine under one persons name but according to V8 Supercar Events everyone has to have already have pre-purchased General or other admittance tickets to the event prior to arriving to get access to the campgrounds

As for firewood we were using the small place heading out of town towards Lithgow near the pet food supplies place, as regular customers we were allowed into their block across the road to get our wood and were able to pcik up some huge bits which burned for ages as well as being able to weed out greener or smaller bits but they had quite a lot of smaller bits for sale in the other yard

Didn't go up last year so not sure if they are still trading or not but will check and see if they are operating when I get up there Monday, failing that the other guys coming up from Orange are bringing wood with them anyway

Oh Five
17-09-2009, 05:34 PM
Andrew, where does it say about everyone having tickets to get in?
Thats gunna cause some problems as we have all the grandstand tickets here, and have people coming from all round OZ at different times of the day/night.
Looks like I'll have to be near the gate waiting..great!!

Skaife fan
17-09-2009, 05:53 PM
Can you still buy your generall admission tickets at the camp ground gate when you arrive or do you have to buy them elsewhere.

spoonster05
17-09-2009, 06:17 PM
This is from the V8 Supercar Events Members Area, I'm guessing it only applies if you have purchased E-Tickets for entry online and the normal Ticketek or tickets purchased at the gate would be fine, still bloody confusing though

Noticed today they have reworded the alcohol restrictions to 'per day' so obviously I wasn't the only one who asked for clarification....

How do I use my Print-At-Home E-ticket to gain entry to the event?

On the day of the event simply take your E-ticket/s with you as you would for any event ticket. Please present your E-ticket on arrival at the entry gate.

Make sure that each person you have bought the tickets for has their own ticket when attending the event. You MUST NAME each E-ticket in the name of the person that will use the ticket to gain entry to the event BEFORE you download and print it.

The E-ticket bearer will be asked to show proof of identification at the gate of the venue to gain entry. Security staff will check that the name on the ticket matches the ID of the person using the ticket to gain entry to the event.

Do not give copies of your E-ticket to others.

Treat an E-ticket like cash.

I think there may be confusion over the event E-tickets and campsite E-tickets, this sort of explains it a bit more from the website!!

TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE EVENT
Please present your campground E-ticket on arrival at the campground entry gate along with your Event Ticket to the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
You will be issued with one campground e-ticket per site. Please ensure if your group is arriving separately, that you each have a copy of the e-ticket.
NB: Campgrounds cannot be accessed without the required accreditation (2009 Supercheap Auto 1000 General Admission Ticket) The Paddock campground requires an additional Paddock pass upon entry also. V8 Supercar Events in conjunction with the Police, will ensure that no campers are staying illegally and in any instance whereby a person(s) is doing so on your campsite, please contact the campground management staff at the Entry gate to the campground.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE GATE
• A vehicular search will be conducted to ensure no prohibited items are brought into the campground
• A Coloured wristband (to be worn throughout duration of event) will be placed on each individual camping in the campground to signal their approval of entry
• A Car Pass for vehicular entry into the campground for the duration of the Bathurst Event – One Car Pass will only be issued for Reid & Sulman Park and the Paddock Campground, additional cars will have to be parked in the respective overflow car parks.
• A free Z-Card containing all relevant information for Campers at the 2009 Bathurst Event
• The opportunity to purchase a Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 lanyard and plastic pocket
• Escorted to their allocated campsite if requested

Oh Five
21-09-2009, 07:30 PM
I read on the same site that the E tickets for the campground HAVE to have each persons name on them, so i followed the instructions. Today my bro in law (campsites in his name) got an email saying all the sites (4) are now in different names!!. This mob (organisers) are causing more trouble than its worth:mad:

spoonster05
21-09-2009, 10:50 PM

I dunno who's running this show but, do they actually proof read anything they put up on this site?? Who knows what will actually end up happening this year!!!

Q: What time will the gates open?
A: Gates will be open for 24hrs from Wednesday 3rd October through to Monday 8th October for Event patrons. The Paddock, Reid & Sulman and McPhillamy Park campgrounds will be open from 9am on Saturday October 3. The Chase campground opens 9am Tuesday October 6. Max Cameron and Motorhome Park open from 9am Wednesday October 7; all campgrounds are open 24 hours a day and close on Monday October 12 at 10am.

I would rather have a good night on sat than behave a bit and drive to orange then back on race day. If I need to sleep in the car, so be it. It is all part of the adventure.

Well we at Sulman Castle have 10 sites so we have 10 cars in our campsites - I hope they don't count caravans as one - it's our bar!!!!

The past 2 years they have taken rego numbers at the gate to try & keep track.

We will be at the mountain as usual next Sat about lunchtime & being so early we never have any problems with access - well not yet anyway.

I've been going up there each year since 1972 & it always been no problems but it's got worse for the past 5.

Not a good start for one team team heading to the Mountain.

5 lanes of the Monash Freeway (nope its still a car park) here in Vic
came to a very sudden halt tonight due to what looked like a collision
between a transporter and 2 cars. The transporter in-question was a single
trailer, all silver or white with the only signage being large V8 Supercar logos.
Of course I am assuming heaps here and could be totally wrong, but it would be
a fairly good bet that it's from the Fujitsu Series????

Not certain if the transporter was involved but it was parked near the 2 damaged cars.
Police and tow-trucks were in attendance. From what I could see there didn't seem to be
any injuries as no Ambulances were present...which is a very good thing. Let's hope the
rest of their journey is less exciting.

Actually not too bad up top of the mountain right now, a slight breeze but at least the skies look pretty clear after being very dreary early on

Had an exciting trip up with my drivers side windscreen wiper attacking the A pillar of the car whilst on the way to Holbrook in very heavy rain, was difficult to find somewhere safe to pull over as they have a lot of roadworks and lanes closed at the moment

Then got up here to find the tent I had taken up (only used for a total of 4 days in about 5 years) was missing it's poles so went into town to get another tent, just managed to get the fly on over that before the rain (and brief hailstorm) hit

Not quite right. Starts at 10:30 but according to the official program race will finish at 5:30 pm even if all 161 laps are not completed. Another time finished but this is sacralige for a race like Bathurst. Channel 7 could surely move things back a bit to allow a full race to be completed. If this happens I'm not only cancelling my trip to Bathurst next year but also turning off from the V8 circus altogether.

Rough race times are around 6.5hrs (so 5pm finish), however, if its wet, (7.5hrs) could be a 6pm finish - so we could potentially lose 20-30 laps if it rains! Thats really bad for a race like bathurst.

I am sorry to say it doesnt look as good as "Brocks Skyline":(

I am disappointed that these works have not been incorporated somewhere.

A white panel with red writing in the middle somewhere would not have looked out of place.

Anyone know why Murph was lapping in the SBR Falcon?
I saw it on live timing and thought it was a typo but then a mate who is up there
sent me a sms about it.
Is it some sort of TV thing or is Murph and or Tasman looking at Ford options for next year.

If they start at the back of the field, there's less chance that they will take out a backmarker trying to overtake them on the grid at the start.

Anyway about HRT's pace,I wouldn't worry about it,I noticed in alot of sessions this year they have been mid to bottom so come race day they'll be just fine.
