Just looking around and finiding some pretty rare 1 of 10 model cars and am thinking I might get one.
I think at the moment my rarest car in my collection is the GMP GT40 Grant/Gurney which is 1 of 500.
Just wondering what the rarest in you collection is.
Cheers

Thas a hard one IMO. Some models like the 1:18 Walky are very valuable but are very wide spread and theres stacks of them. And then you get models that theres a very low number made but don't sell well and end up discounted to say $100 per model.
So, in terms of numbers, my 92 ATCC winner would be my rarest although my Walkinshaw would feth twice as much on ebay.

I just can't grasp why people find it hard to answer a simple question without adding extra rubbish to go along with it. Rarest model in your collection. Seems pretty simple to me.

I just can't grasp why people find it hard to answer a simple question without adding extra rubbish to go along with it. Rarest model in your collection. Seems pretty simple to me. Yeah but it depends how you define rare. Rare as in valuable or how little made or how well they've sold, hey even what number COA it has or if its signed or not or a mixture of them all. Some models have very small production runs yet don't sell well and you'd get a funny look from a collector if you called it rare.
I don't think its as easy as picking the one with the lowest production run, theres other factors that make a model rare.
So sorry for all the "rubbish."

Would be either my 1/43 Minichamps Alan Jones B&H BMW M3 or the 1/43 IXO Alen Menu Renault Lagune(sp) Bathurst car. These do not come up very often.
For numbers made, would be any of the Dinkum cars.

Sorry, forgot my Dinkums. Don't think we can count Code 3s. What about the Brock/Warwick Vectra, did they make many of those ? Oh & I,ve got an Auscar Models 1/24 Jim Richards 635 BMW, only 100 of those from memory.

David, the Brock Vectra is not that hard to find. Lots get listed overseas. People are just not willing to look. Easy to pick up one, two, three or more.
I have the JPS BMW (200 made) and the Spa Schnitzer BMW (#1 of 50) by Auscar models. I consider them as code 3 Burago cars.

No, only ever seen two for sale, one was missing the front spoiler and still went for over $200, and the other had decal issues and went for over $300. To me, not worth more than about $200 in mint condition. I will wait for the ones being done as 1/43 kits to be released or the Biante version in 1/18.

There are 3 of the 1:43 BBR Ferraris for sale on ebay where only 10 have been made and they are individually numbered. At $400 each I am not going to even try to get one let alone all 10 :D
Would be pretty cool to have all of them though.
And Yes this thread was meant to be the rarest (number made) not the highest price or most collectable but its good to see people argue over stupid stuff sometime.

Made by Greenlight in 1/64th, they are a "chase" called a Green Machine, so called because of the colour. The number of each made is 90 units World Wide and numbered too. But this particular set is un numbered because they are a promo set and the number made is much much lower.

I'd hate you to look really closely at the model :laugh4:
Like David says, have you got a before and after photo
I wish I had the patience to go into that much detail but I'm more of an unwrap, on shelf, sort of collector
Whats the chance of you writing a full review on the changes with photo's along the way ?

Working on that...Now my other 1/2 is back from NSW & I have access to a digi camera again, I will get some photos soon as I can to post. Including copies of photos used for Reference for fuel tank, under bonnet etc. Watch this space. A few things I have not so far changed, eg: I suspect that the car had a RED drivers race seat...I have a big photo of #1 at Dandenong Rd corner, Sandown, for the Hang ten 400 & the seat was red, so assuming he never changed it prior to Bathurst?? I however have so far retained the models seat as is, due to fact I did not completely disassemble the model to do my mods. Cheers, Bill.
