Looks like 010 is going to be like 2009 but possibly a bit worse.....Remembering that telecasts for 09 were all up in the air when it was announced that the rights were with 'Versus', but as I predicted, the races were televised in Aust via the ESPN channel on Foxtel. For 2010 though, my research so far has drawn a blank. The ESPN website has the Race Schedule for the season up & mentions that 12 races are with Versus and 5 with ABC, so pretty much as for 09. However I have perused the Feb Issue of the Foxtel Programme paying particular attention to ESPN etc, and can find NO MENTION of the word "INDYCARS" !! Perhaps having a bunch of Aussies & Kiwis at the front of the field every race was not enough ?? I can only assume that a). There will be a late programming change, or b). Indycars are dead for Aust followers ! Perhaps somebody out there knows more than I do In relation to telecasting of the 010 season ?????

I'll be doing the same as I simply can't be bothered with the pathetic scheduling service you get from pay tv.

The first round is not until March 14, hence why there wouldn't be much in the Feb issue. As far as i have been told ESPN in Australia will still be showing all the rounds and the usual coverage of the Indy 500 as they did last year, as its ESPN International secured multi-year deal starting in '09

You're undoubtably right considering the 1st race is I think Brazil on 14 March, but thought there MAY have been some mention in the Feb Magazine as they usually do a tiny amount beforehand to let people know what they intend showing. But this year, nothing. Admittedly, Foxtel is going down the toilet....All quantity & stuff all quality, in relation to pretty much everything they show, along with the annoying/distracting crap supered onto the screen all the way through something you're trying to watch...Latest being "Push RED to order the Winter Olympics"....Doubly infuriating as I can push red til Kevin becomes President & nothing happens as I get their stuff via satellite.....So recently rang to get them to make a note...Bugger all danger of me ordering the thing after continually getting it shoved down my throat!! :D They would want to hang onto Sprint Cup/Indy cars etc that they have now because I confidently predict them losing a squillion customers as Digital HD gets up & running properly !!! Anyway, thanks for your input, will wait for March Mag. Bill.

well with only 1 race to go Power is in the box seat with a 12 point lead on Franchitti - has managed to keep his nose clean and get away without the bad luck that hit his last 2 outings on ovals and make the podium in Japan.

Hopefully he can show the talent that Briscoe ran out of end of last yr. Pretty amazing performance this yr given that just over a yr ago he broke his spine, now he has 5 wins, equalled the record for pole positions and a single step away from taking the championship :D

Yeah hopefully he wont get moved down by Franchitti.

Since you're an Indycar follower/guru, what are the points differentials for positions.

Obviously it goes without saying that Power needs to finish in front of Franchitti, but what can he get away with?

Basically 50 points for the win so if Franchitti wins then Power needs 2nd BUT if Franchitti gets pole that is 1 point and leads the most laps an extra 2...............Penske need to help out but Power coming 6th or better w/ Franchitti 2nd and no pole or lap led points will win him the championship (possibly on countback...........which would be the same way Montoya beat Franchitti in 99)

they have to finish early so they can all cut a few laps around the GC :D

17 race season - always finishes in October...........hence the whole issue concerning the race at the GC and why it couldn't be fit on the schedule due to existing contractual reasons regarding when and where the finale is held

I read on Speedcafe that there is one more race to go.

Franchitti is hunting Power and I betya Power can hear his pounding footsteps

Series is dead in my eyes. Ganassi and Penske are the only ones who have a chance. There was something like 3 lead changes in the last race. 3.

yeh but Japan is known for being a bit of a procession - didn't help having almost 25% of the race run under yellows either ;)

and Ed didn't you see my earlier post about there being 1 race to go - needed to confirm whether my sources were correct :p hahaha

Think you'll find Ganassi upstaging Penske yet again to be honest.

What has happened to Andretti Racing this year with Marco, Danica and Tony

They were only really good when they were the only ones getting the Honda motors and Honda money. From what I have heard everyone is getting mighty tired of Danica's antics

I remember she went pyscho on Ryan Briscoe a few years at the INDY 500.

Whilst she is a pretty girl, it appears she has a very bad temper!

Danica, while i like the girl, i think is jealous now that she aint the only quick female in the series anymore, that young swiss girl, i forget her name, is not only stunningly beautiful, but she is very quick as well and will do well in the future

Simona de Silvestro, Has 5 wins in the Atlantic series. Which is 5 wins more than Danica had in her time in Atlantics, infact IIRC Danica's first win in anything was her IndyCar win.

I used to think alot of Danica (sports illustrated shots helped to) but she is only out to sell here self and win races, she has a very low know-how on setting up a car because "thats the crews job" and is making the move to NASCAR because "It's good for the Danica Brand"

Final race

Franchitti is on pole, Power is 3rd. Briscoe is 4th and Castroneves is 10th.

Race starts apparently at 9am on ESPN. (Not sure if it is QLD or NSW time!)

Will Power hold on, or will the stampeding elephant in Ganassi/Franchitti mow them down.

I read in Motorsport eNews that Michael Andretti (Andretti Autosport) has paid out Tony Kanaan's 3 year contract worth a reputed $3 million.

This was due to 7-Eleven pulling stumps on sponsorship.

The ironic part is that should Kanaan find a sponsor, he can take them to AA.

Then I guess Kanaan would not be paid by AA as he is technically a 'bring a sponsor' to get a ride!
