My apologies if this has been already discussed, but what's happening with the prices of diecast cars?

Have people stopped collecting them?

I bought a Winterbottom Bahrain car for a mate $250, but he bailed as he got one else where so I'm stuck with it. I've learnt my lesson never to buy for him ever again.

But judging by the prices on Ebay I'd lose $50 $80 on my purchase price. Can anyone tell me why?

the above plus it is one of classics poorer efforts quality wise and also because it only appeared like that for a couple of rounds not including bathurst i believe means it is not that popular, several shops i know still have available, some models go up but more probably go down in value

You win some you lose some.
If it went up and he didn't want it you would be laughing.

Its one of those cars that people dont really want and the prices reflect that.

Most models go down in price so its not something new.
I'm not 100% but I think the only releases to hold value or go up in the past 12 months are the Lowndes Red Dust car, 60th Anniversary HRT and possibly the Skaife 92 GTR.

1, This time of year people don,t have the spare cash, as they,re paying off debt from Christmas and the holidays.

2, Sometimes models take a year or 2 to become collectable, as collectors tend to put off buying a certain model.

3, Because the V8s aren,t racing, people don,t buy.

Yes I agree - but you'd think now that Ford don't have many cars on the field that these would be a hot item LOL
