Your answer is .......
ROBBIE FRANCEVIC
He was driving a Volvo 240T

FFan is right; Brockie won the second of the two races at Symmons in 1995 on the occasion of his 50th birthday, thanks in part to his choice of hard compound tyres.
John Bowe was the round victor with Brock the runner-up.
Way back in 1985, Robbie Francevic drove the "Swedish Taxi" to victory, but it wasn't his birthday. For the curious, Robbie was born in September 1941, so that means he was 43 years old when he scored his maiden ATCC win.

Oops !!!!

1989 Dick Johnson - Series Champion
Johnson led team mate John Bowe by 14 points going into the final round at Oran Park and Bowe could have pinched the title. However on the day he dutifully sat behind the boss to allow Johnson to pick up his 5th title.
I wonder if Bowe regrets doing this?

You forgot to add that in this race Peter Brock won it (I think his only Sierra victory) DJ came in 2nd & JB did the team thing coming in 3rd & there was only a few seconds between the 3.
cheers. :)

He managed to get a pretty secure contract to help him get over it

wrong.......If you are going to drag up 3 year old posts, post something worth posting and get your facts right. Tander started his 100th round in NZ this year.
