Looks like I'll be getting lonely up there as sadly, Adrian Brady and Bill Cutler look like having to pull out. Adrian had a delay in an engine repair and Bill broke a valve spring and as a result of course bent a valve at the island last week. That leaves just me and Nick in to fly the BMW flag. There's still about 25 Group A/C cars going to be there though.

Sounds like it's going to be a great event.
Is there a entrants list on what cars will be their.
Cheers

See you up there David.
I'm camping in the pits - anyone wanna come by?

I'll be there, but sadly i won't be running. :( Couldn't get the car ready in time, so i'll be on a flag point somewhere.

I want to arm myself before i go with a few books etc - any idea of which legands will be there ? - kinda selfish question i know but i like being able to get specific things signed
If you go to FOSC.com.au there's an entry list.
Legends might be a bit thin on the ground, this is a 'no frills just racing' sort of event.
But I'll be there. Might not be a legend, but you know...
Anyone wanna have a barbie on Friday night?

In the scheduled FOSC entrants list - under the heading "Regularity One" - I noticed a Torana GTR XU-1 listed against the name of Warren Weldon.
Could this be the same Mr Weldon of Studebaker and Holden touring cars early/mid-1960s fame ?

Very likely, he recently raced an EVO at one of the last Oran Park meetings & cleaned up.

I'm looking forward to the meeting but someone asked me today how many years this meeting has been going on? My reply was easy....dunno! But I'll ask the brains trust, over to you guys.

No big deal David, CAMS will have to sort something out soon or there will probably be a lot of unhappy owner/drivers who are abiding by the rules. Of course the other aspect to all this is that a car that was known to have cheated in the day could conceiveably become more valuable than a car that didn't and is in original, legal trim, that would set the cat amongst tha pidgeons now wouldn't it.
Anyway, back to the FOSC Easter meeting, I must admit to being nervous about having both of my cars racing up there. Should the unthinkable happen, I could be kissing goodbye to a very large investment. No Playstation games to practice on so I'll be flying blind with fingers crossed.

Looking forward to two - no, three of my favourite things. Camping, peace and quiet (ie, no family) and racing.

Unfortunately I have to work, our biggest weekend of the year, otherwise I'd be there.:(
I'm here. It's a lovely day, there's GT40s, XJS, Cobras, Lotuses and all sorts of hot sporties on track.
Woo Hoo

I may have taken a camera with me. And with it, I may have taken a few pictures.
This could well have ended badly...

What a great idea this is ! Not a lot of spectators, but tons of participants, and so a great opportunity for week-end racers to have a crack at The Mountain. I had to work for some of the week-end, but slipped down for a few hours on Saturday with my nephew (who is also a car-nut, and working on making a living from it). He took some pics, including of Forum member David Towe, buzzing down thru the Esses. I will try to work out how to post them on here.
A great variety of cars, awsome to hear all the different engines cutting down the Mount - makes you all nostalgic for the days when the Great Race had more than 2 different engines ! Mind you, the top nostalgia prize, for me, was seeing the 1990 Bathurst winning VL (or a terrific replica) belting down the Mount - the driver was giving it heaps, and it sounded oh so on song. David's BMW was harder to hear, as he was busy with an A9X and a Group C Commo. Also found the Porsche 935 and 911 GT-1 98, hiding in the Firey's camp shed. Fantastic - will go for more time next year. Highly recommended to petrol heads.
The Commodore was the 1990 HRT ATCC car - Win Percy used it in the sprint races that year.
Is that where those cars were hiding? Man, am I annoyed? I wanted to go and say 'Guten tag' to Klaus Bischof.

My car wasn't ready in time, so i had to withdraw my entry and decided to help out with the flaggie shortage. Had a quick chat with David Towe and got to meet Moxo and then quickly had to get back to my point.
First time i have seen Group A & C cars on the mountain, can't wait for next year.

The post above is from a year ago....... 12 months goes by so quickly these days.....and things move on, too. The afore said Nephew is there this year, working with one of the FFord teams (they won the two FF races yesterday); and I have since learned to post pictures on this Forum (LOL).
Still virtually no spectators, despite no actual admission charge (you can/should make a donation at the Gate to the Cancer Council), and despite having the freedom to go wherever you wish at this iconic track - it's a bit dfferent to being there for the "1000", that's for sure.
If you have a car that can enter any of the events, including a Regularity, it is a great chance to have a fang around this awesome track. Anyway, here's a scattered selection of Pics from yesterday (Saturday), to give some idea what the event is like.
