Just caught the tailend of the news late tonight, something about HRT and Kmart racing will not be at the GP in Melbourne this weekend.More than likely has to do with the rule that Manufacturer not allowed to own race team..As this weekends race is only a support race and no points are awarded, whats going to happen when the series start in a few more weeks? Not good at all.

I have heard words to the same effect, but they have come from a 3rd party source.
I can't believe that HRT & K-Mart won't be present at the GP, & I'll believe it when I see it.
Also, does this non-attendance also mean that they are in breach of the the 100% attendance rule ???
food for thought,
cheers.

The deciscion is still yet to be decided. HRT might be facing a ban. won't know until later this week..

with TWR going broke obviously the assets he owns would be up for sale. This would include the 3 franchises (hrt, kmart and team brock). If holden had not purchased them, I presume anyone could have. Now this is obviously against the rules but was the only way Holden would be able to keep some control over the franchise until someone they approved of could be found to purchase them. Otherwise there would have been nothing stopping say someone like Noske buying the franchise and running fords. So until Holden have sold the franchise to someone else they should not be allowed to run, sad as it may seem.
For years they have benefited from the association with TWR and used that to their advantage, now it is a disadvantage, you have to take the good with the bad. Hopefully the officals will stand fast behind their rules and not let them run. When Cameron McLean's ran out of money they had to sell, seems like the same situation to me, apart from them being the favoured red cars.

I'm am not saying that Holden are correct but if they ban HRT & KMart they are just shooting themselves in the foot as far as the series goes. It is the fans that keep the series where it is....................the fans want Hrt & KMart ( well a hell of a lot of fans do anyway)

Holden certainly arent correct, they are wrong, they knew the rules and knew what they were doing. If they are allowed to run it will make the rules a joke. The rule is that Ford and Holden cant have ownership, not you cant have ownership useless your team backer goes broke and that doesnt suit you. The rule wouldnt be changed for any other team, why should they be different??
As far as I understood it the agreement between Avesco and the AGP
Board for the V8 supports is that all Level 1 teams MUST attend. As it's
not a championship round I can't see how a ban, if any, is applicable.
But I could be wrong!!!

I can't see AVESCO or Network 10 stopping the ex-TWR teams racing, no matter what you say they are crowd pleasers, more likely just a marketing ploy and all will be miraculously fine come race day. Besides Murph has to be there!!!!!
Plus great to see 10 has extended the coverage to include drivers briefing, that will be interesting.
Times:
Network Ten’s broadcast times over the three days are:
Friday, March 7 1.30pm – 4.00pm
Saturday, March 8 10.00am – 5.00pm AEDT LIVE
Sunday, March 9 10.00am – 5.00pm AEDT LIVE
Cheers

Just read this on V8 Central,
TWRA get the green light for AGP 04 March 2003, 20:40
It has been confirmed that AVESCO are going to allow the TWRA group: Holden Racing Team, KMart Racing Team and Team Brock to race at this weekend's non-championship V8Supercar round at the Australian F1 Grand Prix.
AVESCO confirmed late today that the team's can race, but the Holden ownership of the group must be cleared by the first round of the Championship at the Clipsal 500, Adelaide in only a few weeks time.

This calls for drastic action, we need a big , rich aussie company to buy TWR.

I couldnt dream of sitting in the pit straight grandstand at Adelaide, and not watching my four boys out there!!!

amazing how the rules are manipulated!
No richard you cannot have a ferrari company hack:D
The hand me down from Trev will have to do and you have to put up with the wing.
The touring car racing needs HRT so it is understandable but what is good for the goose is also good for the gander;
rules are rules!

hey ferrari fan.. what rules have been manipulated? the report on v8central said that HRT can race at the AGP but have to have their ownership probs sorted by the first round in a few weeks...
I dont see a rule manipulation at all.. the AGP is a non-championship round.. all they gain by being there is the track-time with the new cars its not like they will be gaining championships points anyways.. banning then from the AGP wouldnt have done anything exept given them the chance not to trash the cars...:D
on a side note... Im overjoyed they are allowed to race cos I cant wait to see how the new cars run...

At least then you won't have to pay for licencing rights when you build the models.
Not that there will be many now, as the BA Falcon will win Bathurst and the championship!!
(It better win or else!!)

Rules changed-manipulated, call it what you like but it looks like we're back on that level playing field again , just like the last 2-3 years.

Bugger TWR going under, I just came across the Jaguar sports bag I bought at the Nissan Mobil 500 when he and Win Percy raced in Wellington and Bathurst in the XJS's, I think it was 1985/6?.
Plus it is signed by him and Win, was hoping to make a fortune when his team won F1.
Any offers::confused:
Cheers
