it's such a beautiful car, a worth winner in my book, I'm just bleeding that they're not coming in RHD from the factory....

Thats pretty easy on the eye isnt it, love those lines. Sounds nice too but I'm not as keen on the interior as the exterior. Pity an RHD conversion more than doubles the price.

I'd like to know when a decent 1/18 will be done as the Jada version isnt too flash.

Camaro was a fun job, and an exciting car to design.

congratulations.

I never knew Holden designed the Camaro?

At the design phase was there allowance for LHD and RHD?

If RHD - surely it can be rebadged as a Monaro? Just change CAM to MON!!!

If I recall correctly an American did the original design, but it was altered and made more realistic here in Australia?

They did do an allowance for RHD....but GM decided to put it on hold due to their financial problems.....at least thats what Motor & Top Gear UK mags have said....

And I don't think it should be badged as a Monaro.....

The concept car was done in Detroit, by a Korean born Designer actually. American Tom Peters runs the "performance rear drive studio" in Detroit and it was under his guidance the Camaro Concept car was created.

Once it was set for production using the Commodore {Zeta} platform, Holden Design were entrusted to design the production car. Of course we had many visits and meeting from Tom and many others from the US, but the production Camaro was designed on the same plate as the VE Commodore here in Melbourne:)

The brief was to capture the essence of the showcar as much as possible while baking in all the criteria, in one of the tighest programs ever time wise. Doing showcars is one thing, making it into a reality is another ! Without getting to patriotic, Aussie "can do" attitude definitely helped.

Car was engineered in RHD form, but has yet to be put into production. There are no plans to at this stage, but you can be sure if there's a chance to, GM will !

Car will never be a Monaro, because it is not a Monaro, it's a Camaro. Monaro is a true 4 seater GT, Camaro is a 2+2 Pony car.

The Coupe 60 was a more accurate vision of where we wanted Monaro to go.

I've had the pleasure of driving a Camaro SS, and also poke around in the Coupe 60 for a photoshoot. Coupe 60 stirred more emotion in me, purely because of what it is, but I'm an Australian and a hopelessly proud Holden man :)
