View Full Version : VE Bootlids why the difference?

Just unpacked the 09 GRM cars and noticed that the hinges for the bootlid have been simplified compared to the 07 Holdsworth car , The two piece strut that would represent the hydraulic assist has gone . Not a bad thing as mine kept pulling apart and was a pain to get back together.

Wonder if this was a production change to simplify the model or if the actual cars were different ( if so then Bravo Biante for bothering to model such a miniscule dfifference) ?

Just had another look at the two cars side by side and not only is the extra strut missing but the bootlid doesn't have the mounts for the struts either so the whole casting has been modified , very clever if thae real cars are actually this different , anyone seen inside an 07 and 09 GRM boot?

Are you able to post pics of the differences? Sounds pretty intersting. They're both released at the same time, so it'd be odd for biante to modify the hinges, unless the first lot had problems?

At the risk of talking to myself , here are the photos of the bootlids (once approved) , the 07 first with the extra strut and lug and then the 09 without.

On an different note the 09 Caruso has 4 bonnet pins and the 09 Holdsworth has 3 .

If the cars actually were different then i am very impressed with Biante's eye for detail.

You have noted a difference between the two GRM models; but is there also a difference with the other Biante VE's released so far as well?? (IE the Walkinshaw Performance VE's of BJR)

This might be of some interest. A shot of the 2010 GRM boot, showing similar hinges to the 2009 diecast.

Can anyone from Biante confirm this? It's spectacular if it's true and not just luck :D

Shouldn't it be 3?

Unfortunately I don't have either of the BJR cars in stock to compare , perhaps someone else does?

I have no idea if the bonnet pins are correct but thought is was an interesting difference , maybe the three part hinge on the 07' car is a bit like two mirrors on a White GTHO Falcon ;)

Just checked both my BJR models and their bootlid pieces are exactly the same as the 09 GRM cars... 07 car is completely different

WOW...so we are looking at all that work for just 300 cars and no one would have been any the wiser if the boot hinges had been different. Thats awesome .

Chris Roche and all at Biante , I tip my hat that is really going the extra mile.

Also checked the CC bootlid pieces they are all generic right thru all the VE Commodores

We are trying to make sure cars are correct.
Marion and her team in R&D are doing a great job in giving you those extra details required. Stay tuned for more!
