View Full Version : Coming soon Francevic Volvo...
Has anyone spotted on the AutoArt website the Francevic Volvo 240..they quote it as a DTM car...but another look with Mark Petch and Pye Audio sponsorship along with the James Hardie 1000 on the doors...got me thinking overtime....
I have the Bathurst Program along with the Castrol Grid Card...to whom did the sharing of the drive with Robbie Francevic...the former says Ulf Granberg while the latter says
John Bowe.

Cool, maybe we will see the 1986 ATCC Winner coming soon too then.
The model you speak of appears to be the 1985 Bathurst version, which ran with troubles (Alternators) all day. I recall an interview they did with RF and he stated that the new item they put in during the race failed as well.
John Bowe was the co-driver for the 1985 Sandown and Bathurst races. This was John Bowes first Bathurst start.
The car ran number 21 during the ATCC Season, and ran number 55 for Sandown and Bathurst. (Does anyone know why the change of numbers???)

Just checked it out. Looks pretty good. Wouldn't mind one of them. Will Biante be selling this?

There is actually a bit of confusion around this Model at the moment. The model will be announced by Biante next month, as the 1985 James Hardie 1000 #55 Francevic/Bowe car - basically the car shown on the AutoArt site, however the model code will be A88593. The code and description for the car shown on the AutoArt site is clearly not the car displayed in the pictures, that car looks something like this:

Hope that clears up the confusion, and look forward to everyone ordering the car when its announced in the coming days...

Change of number was because it was running as an under-3-litre car, and a block of numbers was set aside for that class (under FIA International rules of the time).
I'd like one of these as well. I liked Robbie and I liked the car and I loved Group A.

Question... Where is the 1:43 ???????????

Thanks Moxo, Is that along the same lines as why Brocky needed to change from 05 to 56 in the M3 in 1988??

Wasn't just the Volvo that was renumbered for the enduro's, the works Corolla's went from #10 & #11 in the ATCC to #60 and #61, also the Bond Alfa went from #26 to #47. It was a pretty standard practice for the event at the time

Ulf Granberg was supposed to drive alongside Robbie at Bathurst, but due to the close nature of the 1985 ETCC at the time, Volvo Europe ended up not releasing him to come and race at Bathurst that weekend, hence 'reserve' John Bowe got the call up.

The AUTOart website images appear to be a decoration sample prototype, yet to be dressed in silver body colour and, hopefully, a red engine bay.
The car was all-over red at the beginning of 1985 when Robbie and Michele Delcourt won the Nissan Sport 500 at Wellington, New Zealand. (Michele had raced this same car in the 1984 ETCC on behalf of the Belgian Volvo Dealer Team).
