Hockenheim Race.
Alex was not able to get his nose in front of Dumas and Stippler and got a 3rd placing.
The team he drives for (Team HP Phoenix PZ K) has not updated there site for the 2003 season where they have more information about the aussie whiz kid. I will post the link when available.
Next race is at Adrina Italy on the 10 of May.

Alex and Will are grandson's of racing legend Lex Davison who won the Australian Grand Prix in 54, 57, 58 and 61.
Will Davison is chasing a F1 spot in the near future if all goes well as he races in the British Formula 3.

The stand in driver from Minardi last year was ANTHONY Davidson, not Alex Davison. Anthony is from the UK, Alex from Australia - different surnames & not the same bloke !

ALEX DAVISON RACING AT EASTERN CREEK

News just in from Carrera Cup Site. The Aussie Gun is BACK!

Davison joins GMR Team Braun for season finale
24/11/2003

AUSTRALIAN international Alex Davison will bookend his season-opening wins at the non-championship Australian Grand Prix Carrera Cup events by racing in the final round of the nine-round series at Eastern Creek Raceway this weekend.

The 24-year-old, who has been racing for the Hewlett-Packard-backed Phoenix team in this year’s German Carrera Cup, will replace Peter Hill in the Greg Murphy Racing Team Braun #66 Porsche for the weekend, joining Tim Leahey and Roger Oakeshott in the three-car outfit.

“I’m looking forward to coming back home and racing, said Davison.

“It’s always fun to be back home, hopefully I can keep my 100 percent winning rate alive after the three races I won earlier in the year at the Grand Prix. I just want to go and have a bit of fun and enjoy the weekend.

“Tim (Leahey) is a good friend of mine and I’ve got to know Peter (Hill) quite well over the past couple of years. I tested one of Kevin Murphy’s Formula Holdens at the end of 1999 so there’s quite a few links between myself and the team.

“One of their mechanics, Jon Porter, was actually a mechanic on my Dad’s Formula Atlantic and Formula Holden in the 1980s and early 1990s so there’s links everywhere!

“I had a drive of their Carrera Cup cars at Calder in a test at the start of the year and when Peter decided to drive in Formula 4000 at Eastern Creek, they came up with the idea of asking me to drive and get another one of their cars to the pointy end of the field.

“Mistral are a personal sponsor of mine and they’ve been fantastic in allowing me to take part in the Eastern Creek round. The whole deal has worked out perfectly for everybody.

“It’s great for Mistral and Braun as they have a strong business relationship, great for Greg Murphy Racing by having another car challenging at the front of the field and great for me to be racing at home again.

While the Australian series has been decided in favour of Jim Richards, most drivers agree that this weekend will be a ‘gloves off’ affair and Davison is looking forward to being part of it.

“We’re always going to race hard but coming into the championship on a one-off drive basis, you’ve got to have a bit of respect for people who have been racing all year. I’m not going to be risking punting anybody off the road for the sake of one position, but at the same time, I’ll still be pushing hard.

Davison will be at a disadvantage considering the Carrera Cup teams have already raced this year at Eastern Creek (back in May) and he hasn’t raced at the 3.93-kilometre venue since 1999 in a Formula Ford. However, he doesn’t see it as too great a problem.

“I don’t think it should be too much of a problem. Peter’s got all of the on-board camera videos from this year so I can get myself up to date.

“I thought lack of track knowledge was going to be a problem at the Grand Prix but it ended up OK there, and I know Eastern Creek better than the Grand Prix track so it should be fine.

Davison finished fifth in this year’s cut-throat German series in his fourth year of racing Porsches overseas and also competed in a handful of rounds of the American Le Mans Series (the world’s premier Sportscar/GT series) in a Porsche GT3 RS for PK Sport.

He won all three Carrera Cup support races at the Australian Grand Prix in March this year driving for the VIP Petfoods Racing team and is working on finalising his 2004 racing program in the next few months.

Based in Weissach, Germany, for nine months of the year, Davison is the grandson of four-times Australian Grand Prix winner, the late Lex Davison. His father Richard was the 1980 Australian Formula 2 Champion and brother Will races in the British Formula 3 Championship.
