gday all, just opened my 1/43 skaife/richards bathurst winfield racer to put missing winfield decals on and was totally disgusted at the paint work on it. there was bubles and dirt all the way through it and dull, not polished. not happy. i had to softly polish the car ( with soft cloth) so it would semi-shine. toally not happy with this, they better pull their finger out for others or have better quality control....

This must be a isolated one Dave. All the ones I have seen have been good. And remember, this car was released at least five years ago.

depends on which Skaife / Richards Winfield Bathurst racer you are refering to - the 92 Skyline or the 95 Commodore - Nrma Dave didnt specify, so either one of you could be right:p
either way, haven't seen anything like what you are describing before on a Biante 1:43

I have the Skyline in my BW collection (with Windfield decals applied by me), and its totally OK regarding finish/shine. I don't have that Commodore (not a BW), but have had a good look at one at my local model shop (at release time), and it was totally OK as well. Sounds like you may have one that slipped thru QC. Can you return it to point-of-sale and exchange it for a better one ?
When I bought my 1992 1/18 BW (second hand), the paint job was so chalky and gross. It looked like it oxidised?
My hobby shop then polished it back to normal for me and then applied the WINFIELD decals.

it was the commodore, and no i cant locate another one here in newcastle. we have two stores one is good but sells out quick and the other has the prices higher than the rrp for the same thing and he is a bit of a wanker.

I reccomend you send an email to Biante, they should replace it for you if your retailer has none left.

The finish (and detail) on both of the Biante 1/43 VRs I have I consider to be excellent.
Unfortunately the models look ridiculous with that narrow-track under-carriage...

Yep, never been talked down to as much in a shop before, I was amazed. All I did was be rude enough to ask how much some models were as they weren't priced. Anyway his bad, I went into town & spent $600.00 there instead. Few years ago now.
