Just saw the 2003 K MART Commodores of Murphy & Kelly in the find a model section . They are VX Commodores . Does this mean there will be VX and VY models of the K Mart cars this year?

Providing the team switch to VY's at some stage...yes there will be both.
If they don't, then only VX's.
I don't want to harp on about this but will we ever see the 2003 K Mart cars in 1:43rd. The 2004 cars are in Development Approved but no sign of the 2003 cars and pretty soon it will be 2005. It just seems odd given that we have the 2003 cars of Team Brock and HRT.

I think that I read in another thread that the Bathurst winner would be the only Kmart car done in 1/43:(

I have a feeling that these big things were going to be announced back in July 04, but things all went a bit quiet........
I wonder if the issues in China (issues with a lack of power) have put this on the back burner for the time being ???
I have a feeling it was someting more about the release of the older race cars in 1:43, than it was about the production of the 2003 K-Mart VY.
cheers. :)

With the impending release of the 2004 K Mart cars, I was hoping Admin could confirm that the bathurst winner will indeed be the only 2003 K Mart car released in 1:43rd.
I collect Murphy cars and Bathurst winning Commodores displayed separately so am deciding whether to buy another Bathurst Winner to plug the 2003 gap in my Murphy collection.

im also a murph collector and i think we can say for our selves that the 1:43 2003 kamrt cars of murph and kelly are not coming.
unlike you i will not buy another bathust winner, it looks like i will just have to put up with a hole in my collection.:(
cheers

I can't answer for Trevor but I do remember him saying at the Bathurst gathering that some items had been dropped from the production schedule due either to time constraints or slippage (I couldn't hear too well, thanks Wayno :D)
This might have been one of the items...

No, but now that you mention it I haven't seen Fluffy for a while...:D
Nah, it was meant as a joke Wayne, it was such a big place though that it was hard to hear everything that was said, I missed whether the Kmart cars were going to be made or not. Next time I see you, I'll bring the apology cake :D
If any body see's a 2003 Murphy/Kelly K Mart Bathurst Winner around can they let me know.
I put one on layby when they were released and my dealer sold it on me. At the time he was very apologetic and said he could get another one but I'm getting impatient. Not to mention slightly peeved. The few I have seen on "upay" sorry, ebay, are up over $230.00 already so any thing under that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Peter (Terrine).....(sales@replicars.com.au).

Is the Murphy 2003 1/43 model going to be put back on the schedule of cars to be made?
I would doubt it. I imagine it would have been made by now. I don't know why they didn't release the VX that both Murph and Rick started the 2003 season in. They were done in 1:18th and 1:64th.

Forgotten all about these models.
Hopefully they will be done in the fullness of time, although I'd suggest they would be made at the tail end of the collection rather than the near future...

I'm wondering if there is any money in 1/43, as Biante seem to be trying to get rid of it. Releases come a long way after the other scales, if at all!!

At the moment unfortunately not. With Kmart leaving the team it is unlikely that we be able to produce the 2003 1:43 models.

We aren't trying to get rid of 1:43 scale. The basic fact is that it is easier to develop the 1:18, get it as right as possible, and then transfer the info to 1:43. It saves making a 1:43 and 1:18 sample and having the same fix made to both. We can make the 1:18 sample, get it through the approval and checking process, and then make the 1:43 with all of the corrections made to the 1:18 already done.
Wait and see what is coming in the Biante Racing Legends collection! You'll be impressed.

Check with Dimitri at Motorfocus at Oxley. He has a couple of K mart cars in 1:43 on his display near the front door. Not sure what year they are but won't hurt to check. Ph (07) 33795966.

The 2003 Kmart cars were never made in 1:43, and unlikely to according to Richard (see above).
If they are 2003 cars, then they are Code 3.
Richard,
Does that mean that the 1980's Kmart Commodores won't be made either?
Cheers

The 2003 K Mart Bathurst winner was made in 1:43rd. I used that as my 2003 Murphy model in my 1:43rd collection.

Oops, I left out the word "season"
What I meant to type was

Sounds like the only way to go!
That is very dissapointing to say the least! Don't know why it wasn't made during the normal season anyway when the other teams cars were made!

does that mean if Kmart were still sponsoring the kelly family team, then it would be easier to "back" produce the 2003 models?

Checked with Dimitri at Motorfocus and the two K mart models are the 2004 Murphy and Kelly season cars. If interested phone 07 33795966.

what about the classic muscle cars then? sponsors that were there decades ago, and are not sponsoring anymore.
Does permission have to be granted before producing them? if so, why can't Kmart give permission then?

Unfortunately it's our only option & I’ve too done this for my 1:43 collection. It also appears from Richards previous post that there will be no change either. I wonder why it is then that they are not able to make the 2003 car, yet still produce race cars from the 70’s, 80’s & 90’s…..???
Surely something can be sorted out if there is enough interest producing this vehicle, perhaps a deal simular to the DJR situation could be a viable solution ???
cheers. :)

Thankyou for this response Richard!
Being a 1:43 only collector, this brings new hope to my collection aspirations!
Does this mean the 1st to 50 will be built in 1:43 (2 & 22 please)?
