I have several of the Moffat race cars models (the 1977 ATCC car, the 1978 Bathurst Cobra, and the 1977 Moffat-Bond 1-2) plus I have seen many photos of various Bathurst cars from the seventies (most usually Fords) so can anyone tell me what the little blue triangle that appears on the bonnet or wing of these cars is for ?

Is it an official marking, or used to signify the location of something in particular, and, specifically, what size is it in real life, and what colour of blue is it ? is it painted on the real cars, or is it a decal ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Intercooled,
I think the blue triangle indicates the location of the battery for the car. Can any one else varify this?.

Yes it does indicate the position of the battery. Measurements of each side is approx 120mm and it is a mid flat blue, roughly PMS293C.
The only time it changes is if it is on a blue car, then there is usually framed by a 5mm white outline so it stands out.
Could be either painted on or a Fablon sheet cutout.
