Here's something for a bit of conversation. What kind of music/bands do most people listen to on long - over 100 km's - car trips? Greenday? Linkin Park?:D :)

The Clash, INXS, REM, The Church, JAM, Dare I say Kylie Minogue (I think she's gorgeous!), plus many, many more. I also burn my own various artists stuff on my PC to play too!

I also listen to books as I don't get much time to read. Stuff from Tom Clancy, Clive Cussler (Dirk Pitt Novels) and similar. I enjoy the narration, usually by an experienced actor/actress as they can put a lot of effort into the characters in the book.

Cheers,

Timbo.

Timbo how good is Clancy and Cussler. I still enjoy picking out a book I have read, and reading it again on a boring sunday.

Music, we like to listen to Creed, Dave Matthews Band, Tool (when there are no kiddies in the car), Live, and various mixed complation CD's we burn.

Definitely some sort of connection here, with heavy loud music the thing. Doesn't anyone listen to Rolf Harris? No tape player in the Cobra, just a Ford Superfringe that doesn't seem to pick up any UK stations, so I have to listen to the 351 instead.

PS timbo333, Kylie Minogue looks like a weasel and spends far too much time here in the UK. You can have her back if you like...:D

Anything on the 4AD label (Mojave 3, Red House Painters, ect), older 80's alternative... when it TRULY was alternative - REM, 10,000 Maniacs and the like. Celtic, folk and lotsa types of world music. Oh, yeah Grant McLennan/Go-Betweens and The Bats.

Clive Cussler's books are all the same, but they're a nice, easy read. Tom Clancy rocks.

Mainly U2. I have all their CD's and quite a few CD singles so the 10 stacker is put on random. Thats in the SS. In the Mazda, I am currently listening to Van Morrisons Greatest Hits. Very cruisey. Have just finished listening to Robbie Williams new CD. Don't have any Kylie but would gladly just stick the cover to the dash to stare at.:D

Foo Fighters, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Ozzy, Gunners, Creed, Nickelback, AC/DC, Live, Queen, Metallica, Blink 182, Queens of the Stoneage, any good hard rock really and softer stuff like U2, Bryan Adams, The Corrs, etc. I make a lot of Rock compilations and Greatest Hits Cd's to play as well. But right into the Foo's at the moment (Dave Grohl Rocks), I regret not going to their Melbourne show in January :(

For me it's Van Halen, The Cult, Soundgarden, Metallica, Tool, Alice In Chains, System of a Down, Foo Fighters or just about anything with a screaming guitar.

Well my music taste incorporates many things, from Tool to Tchaikovsky.. maybe not quite...

However: get some Oz music into ya! Nothing quite like driving around on Oz day in a Torana belting out a bit of ACDC...

Now thats where it's at!

Hey Nick, I'll take Kylie back anytime..I've must have nearly worn out her Sydney Concert DVD.

You reckon she looks like a weasel!! I guess your idea of a good looker would be Nana Mouskouri...hey...LOL! Not sure of the spelling as I do not have any of her albums. Perhaps you could correct the spelling for me Nick....He He He....

Mustang1966......yeah they great escapism. Have listened to the James Herriot Vet series as well. They are a real laugh! I loved the TV series of that show and the books are even better......

Cheers,

Timbo.

Timbo333, Nana is HOT. Love those glasses...
As for Kylie, she spends her time over here making sure she is in the papers every day, and UK tabloids will print pictures of her just because of what she's wearing, or because she's going shopping or to a nightclub, or because she's set up a scene with her and some male model or other, and made sure she tipped off the photographers first. You can have her back, in a straight swap for Susie Rugg. Actually we got Holly Valance as well, so that seems fair.

There's nothing like cruising along in the ute with a bit of Aussie country music on - Adam Brand, Lee Kerneghan, Adam Harvey. Currently have a young bloke called Travis Sinclair on high rotation.

Can't go past a bit of retro 80's stuff when the mood suits, Cockroaches, Mentals, Hoodoo Gurus - stuff you can sing along with. Being a ute, I'm only ever offending one other, thankfully the dog doesn't seem to mind too much.

Haven't bought any new CDs for ages, keep spending too much money on models so most of the CDs in the car are old ones like Def Leppard, Nirvana, Radiohead, and good old Pink Floyd.

Taste is quite varied but currently listening to Pearl Jam and Linkin Park. Also depends on the mood - can be anything from Ministry of Sound to some 2Pac or Guns n' Roses. Just depends what CDs I grab :) If all else fails tune in the radio and if there is crap on the radio turn it off and listen to the engine purr.

Yeah, the_goldie, I must admit that I'd rather just enjoy listening the sound of the V8. My SS is my first V8 and I just love listening to it. Most of the time, I don't have the stereo on or have it turned down especially round town.

Wind those windows down, oh yes! Driving the Cobra through the Adelaide tunnels I didn't need any music.....
