Have just started to get into the 1/18 EXOTO models. The EXOTO site is good (great) although it has NO information on the number of models produced in any particular production run. The site OFTEN mentions their models are 'LIMITED EDITION' but I cannot find any details about this. I realise that some (not all) of the EXOTO models have an 'INDIVIDUAL' number on the bottom (chassis) of the car but do not know as to wht is corresponds to. Any help in this manner would be greatly appreciated.

Barney, the limited ed cars do have the number of chassis to be made. From the home page go via the release schedule option and click on the car or group you want, the preorder option and then you will get a details page. If the car is a limited ed it will have the number of cars for release in the box on the right of the car pic.

Try Home, release, le mans, sauber 1/10th scale (limited to 1989 cars)

As for the general issue I am not sure but its not as many as minichamps per car.

I have just got my first Exoto myself and just had look under it and there is little silver part with number in it.
I was wondering what that was for.

it would appear each model carries this plate.
probably its individual build number.
each of my cars carry the A prefix and four numbers.
my GT40 1966 lemans 3 model set all carry the same number.

I have had a good look on the EXOTO site and it would appear that quite a few of the 1/18 scale models (GPC and RL) are all worded as LIMITED EDITION.

Below is the EXACT text as it appears on the bottom of the 1/18 scale Sauber Mercedes C9 page -

"With this new addition to our Racing Legends series, Exoto brings you more than a replica: we bring you the best reproduction of the real thing! Reserve your own numbered, limited edition Sauber-Mercedes C9 -- call us or order on-line -- let us build one for you from $189.95!"

As everyone can see it clearly states 'Reserve your own numbered, limited edition' yet there is NO information regarding this on the EXOTO site. I have this model (#62) and apart from the number on the chassis there is no info on the limited edition part of things.

Anyway thanks for the help everyone, if anyone else can help feel free. I have email EXOTO twice and no reply  ... it happens.

For a US based company Exoto are pathetic for returning emails there appears to be no Customer Service as I too have sent them several emails with no reply.

The limited ed cars do have the number built on the web site

This is lifted from the detail page of the 1/10th scale Sauber
