Thanks barnart l will be watching, was lucky to get old footage from calder marlboro race showing his chev racing moffat mustang also janes torana being driven by harvey and tomphson in another torana. Jane wins, fellow l got it from found reel in old shed. Hes into old british cars and not interested init. Cheers pk

Yes and why should it be like this for so why the V8s do not race there, Is it just because they don't like going around in oval race,and why can't V8SUPERCARS get on board to help him out to keep the track going this was a track was only uesd for one race only for nascars just a bummer to see it look like it is :(

imagine a v8 supercar race that goes around and a round ? thats what they do now, exept for a corner or seven. it would be an intersting race because its so far from the norm. they should give it ago!

I think Calder Park raceway is still going strong. It is only the Thunderdome that has closed.
Top Gear Australia filmed the Winterbottom segment at Calder Park raceway, it is still alive.

The thunderdome ran for a few years both Nascar and Auscars, Auscars ran reverse direction to keep drivers side away from the walls. I think I heard talk Bob wanted to reopen Thunderdome for Nascar races again.

V8s don't run Calder at the moment due to facilties and I think the promotion team not meeting some ideas with CAMS and V8SCA

Some interesting snippets of vintage race footage, but a lot of it wasn't directly relevant to Bob Jane ... for example, the producers seemed to latch onto the Vauxhall Viva rollover at Bathurst in 1965 ... the #58 car partnered by Don Mudd and Tony Kavanagh crashed out at the 48 lap mark.

Bob's recollection of race results wasn't too flash either, nominating his Lotus Cortina as the winner of the 1961 Armstrong 500 ... he did win that race (at Phillip Island) with his old mate Harry Firth, but they were driving a Mercedes-Benz 220 SE.

It was the Ford Cortina GT that Bob drove to victory in the first two Bathurst 500 milers, in 1963 and 1964 ... the Lotus Cortina was never eligible for series production racing at Bathurst.

The ABC program certainly gave some insight into Bob's family relationships and later on in the future it will be interesting to see where things end up between Rodney Jane and half-brother Bob Jane Jr ... by the looks of Junior's steering of that Flame Monaro CV8 in the ABC footage, I'd say that he at least won't be a competetive concern for Rodney on the track.

Agreed Graeme, the young bloke may well be gifted in business in years to come but he doesn't seem a natural on the track at all.

Rodney Jane cam across as a very smart and level headed operator. I think Bob Jane T-Marts is in good hands.

What tragedy Thunderdome is! With all that grass and weeds growing up between seats it looks so sad. They said 200 million was poured into it over the years. It should be called "Jane's Folly".

Young Bobbie races a Rotax Superkart these days... Some of the old footage was cool, Johnnie Walker in the Lola and of Brownie hopping in or out of the Lola, brilliant stuff... I also like the Wanneroo Sports Sedan footage.

calder park doesnt run v8sc because good old bob shafted v8sca and cams, just like he has shafted andra and drag racers, thats why there is no andra compitition drag racing at calder, sorry if this upsets any body but the sooner that nasty little man dies and calder park is pulled down to make way for housing the better imo.
