Alright everyone, here's another search for you.
We are just about finished with research on the 2nd place A9X Torana of Janson/Perkins from Bathurst 1979 (yes, there were other cars in the race) and once again, one logo is proving to be quite difficult so we thought you would all like to help out again.
As usual a prototype model is up for grabs to the first person that can provide us with a clear, reproduceable copy of the logo in question.
It is a DUNLOP logo and is located on the lower section of both doors (circled in attached pic).
Good luck.

Here is another picture that may help.

Have you checked with the guy that got the logo on the Moffat Sierra? Didn't he work for Dunlop or some distributor of Dunlop? He may have something in his locker again ;)
Anyone with Bathurst magazines start looking...
That last image is pretty clear although the left hand side of it looks like a couple of blokes holding some beer cans..lol..

Must have been some event related to Dunlop...what other cars ran Dunlop's that year?
Cameron, I think you are right about the beer cans...

Just got another pic through from our source and it looks to me like a group on international flags. there is also some writting above the word DUNLOP which cannot be read on our pictures.
Keep hunting.

Looks like 2 little LEGO men dressed like germans holding beer cans to me :) The guy on the left has a moustache and black hat on... think my imagination is running wild......
Damn these logos! There should be a site with every logo ever created available!!!!

I just need to build a time machine to go back in time and take photos of every logo on every car ever raced in Australia. Don't tell anyone, and every time this competition comes up I get a prototype!!!!!! SLAP!!!!!! Snapped out of it now!!

It's definately a collage of flags, just which ones and placing of them is hard to see. Can't make out the writing on the top though.

Pardon my ignorance of the 70s,
But who was Janson and what were his achievements?

Captain Peter Janson would probably be nearly the last of the 'gentleman' racers. He was really good at drinking, smoking cigars and getting good finishes at Bathurst!

We have a few leads in the search for this logo.
Peter Janson believes it is a logo relating to Dunlops involvement in Grand Prix racing. The flags could be from each round of the Grand Prix championship.
Some other people that were very closely invlolved with the car at the time are searching as well so we are getting closer.

Sorry, not ignoring you, just busy with other models.
Still no sign of the logo. We've been everywhere and nobody knows what it is, even Dunlop Motorsport in Japan!
Just have to keep looking.

WOW thats the quickest reply I've ever had:D Hmmm will have to keep looking, you could always just make the model with "Dunlop Unkown" sticker in it's place or "TBC" To Be Confirmed or Continued:D

Have noticed in the latest issue of AMC the owners who are restoring the Janson/Perkins Torana of Bathurst 79 are trying to find details of this elusive dunlop sticker as well. Any news still on this?

It can't be too far away because at the opening they had a prototype - maybe with or without, don't know - but would LOVE to know if it has been found.
Maybe the answer will come from someone who reads AMC and sends the answer in next issue :)

It is amazing who reads this magazine and the communication that it restores.
The awareness of the true Muscle car era is well and truly enriched with this excellent mag.
Hopefully they keep it the way it is and no more silly ads like phone and oil, will appear, but ,on the other hand, they pay the bill and keep the $price down
This in no small part will draw more and more enthusiasts into the diecast collection circlesand Historic racing events.:D

These were not the correct stickers.....the search goes on.
The car is due for production on April 3, so if not found by then, will just have a regular Dunlop sticker.

Can't wait until this model is released. Instead of a Sierra Collection, I'll start an A9X collection. I'm a huge fan, being that the A9X is in my book is the only real hardcore Torana made. I've got the Brock/Brock A9X, what other A9X Toranas might we see? Hopefully a Bob Morris A9X.

After some research into this logo thing (which I have not found) I believe the logo could be relating to the 1979 winter olympics for which dunlop was a sponsor or the 1980 moscow olympics for which dunlop was also a sponsor. Another interesting fact is that in 1979 Dunlop Pneumatic Tyre company its name at that time was in the process of a name change to Dunlop Olympic which took place in 1980 the same year as the olympic games. For these reasons I believe it is a sporting image of some kind relating to their sponsorship of sports at that time. Good luck with the search and forget google for searching dunlop olympic or pneumatic tyre company etc as I have flogged it to death.
