I thought I read on Ford Forums that was filmed in New Zealand.
Not real sure of this though.

XR8's right the add was filmed in NZ, as to why Ford couldn't find somewhere in Aus to film it anyones guess - perhaps the advertising company handling the add just wanted a paid holiday ???

cheers. :)

Anything filmed in NZ nowadays, is regarded as Australian produced. Plus, it is cheaper to do things in the land of the long white cloud.

While NZ is becoming the ninth state/territory of Australia, Australia is becoming the fifty-third state of the bloody USofA.:(

I think it was just the ad agency's preference for the scenery. Did you notice that the Camry ad is filmed in exactly the same place? And I think there was a third car company using the same piece of road -- Commodore I think, but could be wrong......

Talking about locations.............

Way back in '94 when i was back packing around this wonderful country of ours i was in the Territory, way out past Alice in the Desert.

Low and behold in the middle of nowhere there was an advert being shot for the Hyundai Excel!!

Helicopters, people, cars.......everywhere. One of the most surreal episodes I've witnessed. Every time the car did a run all these people with rags & chamois would run over to the car to get it looking pristine again.

The car was that awful salmon pinky colour...YUK!!:p

Cheers,

Timbo.

Does that mean I can stop paying credit card service charges for the exchange rates? Heck, the way our dollar is going, they'll be worth the same soon enough.

Also, if you're our 53rd state, who are our 51st and 52nd? Canada? About 31 million people might have a different opinion about that.

I am not so sure you have this statement totaly correct. The clip was filmed in New Zealand. But if you speak to any self respecting kiwi you will come to relize that australia is to become a province of new zealand and not the other way around...I am sure that it is a small oversight and will not be repeated...:)

They are looking for immigrants in a host of countries and if you would choose some of them(cause you do not like it here anymore ) even subsidised travel. Goodbye and save travel!

Ummmm...... geez, I can't honestly remember. How many stars on your star spangled banner? I thought there was 52. I've never counted. I know there are six on ours.

So how many states in America? Hawaii and Alaska are included, aren't they?

So I've been wrong all these years. (So what's new, I hear you all say) :)

Yeah, we tend to include Alaska and Hawaii on the flag and when arriving at state totals. Do you guys usually include Tasmania?
It seems like such a pretty state to forget.

How could any hot blooded Aussie ever forget the map of tassie!

Tasmania is always included in our count. We have six states, (five mainland and one island) not including pissed, and two territories. If we ever forget one, it would be the nations capital, the ACT.

I've got a license plate from each of your states and territories on the wall of my garage, including a 'Federated Insterstate' one.
I certainly wouldn't forget Tassie!

I'm trying to figure out which plate I should stick on the front of the car. It'll probably be Victoria 'cause Melbourne's so cool.

Which Victorian one do you have???

An old White letters on Black "Vic"

A Green letters on White "The Garden State"

Or Blue letters on White "On the Move" or "The Place to Be"

The number of stars on our flag don't relate to the states...five stars are the Southern Cross...the sixth star is the federation star (which has Seven points, one point for each state and one point for the territories...). NZ will probably want their own point...

Cheers

Just a quick correction for you, the interstate plate, is actually Federal Interstate. If it's issued from NSW, the first letter is 'N', if from Victoria the first letter is 'V', from South Australia, 'S'. etc...

The Federal Interstate plates are used by heavy vehicles, not the average car, just in case you weren't aware of that. I'm not familiar with US plates and if there is some sort of Country issue for cars as well as maybe trucks, or tractors, as you call them over there.

And which of the Melbourne plates did you get?
White on Black with VIC?
Green on White with Garden State?
Blue on White with On The Move? (I always added to this, 'To Queensland'. Luckily for us, Kennett has gone.)
Blue on White with The Place To Be?

And if you are referring to Melbourne's weather as cool, temperature wise, just wait five minutes, there is another season coming. :)

Hey, it's gotta be easier and cheaper for you blokes to collect one of each of ours, cause for us to try and do the same of yours, geez, we'd be collecting for years. :(

You can't be serious man. NZ has some wonderful places, from what I've seen and heard. Ok, NZ doesn't have a bloody great big rock, but hot mud pools, that's gotta be fun!

Unless you come from the South Island. That could explain the letdown.

But I guess we gotta be glad that NZ'ers like Australia.

Any truck driving jobs going over your way? I hear the pay is really good.

Arrgh! I thought about that after I posted the message, but forgot to verify it later. I didn't know about the first letter on the plate, though.

We have some US govt plates, but you rarely see them. In my state, most govt plates are issued by counties.

So all your heavy trucks have Federal Interstate plates? Ours are licensed by state.

I got the VIC plate that's Blue on White with "The Place to Be". As for referring to Melbourne as "cool", I meant I've read a great deal about it and it seems like a great place.

I got my plates from an Aussie who has a ton of US plates. You're right though, we have a bunch. And not just 50. Like I saw with some of yours, there are different styles. God knows how many in total!
