Hello every one,

I was just wondering what you would use as a replacement value for some of the cars that we all have?

I have all of the HRT cars 4 x 1999 3 x 2000 6 x 2001 + 1 x twinpack.

Also I have the HSV R8 & Skaife GTS, followed by the 2 HSV Coupes.

Then finally the 3 Craig Lowndes Fords.

Thanks for any help as I am in the process of take pictures of the cars with the Certs to take to my insurance company.

Chris

I would go to the auction sites and see what the average selling price of the cars are (selling not advertised!). From there add money for shipping and insurance. Then add 10% on top of the total. This should give you a realistic figure on replacement of these cars. I would then double-check your figures every 6 months or more often depending on how collectable they are (how often the price increases).

Most people have Excel now days. It is pretty simple to make up a basic spreadsheet to track your collection. I track the model, purchase date, cost, replacement value etc.

Just my $0.02 worth...

Oh and in the light of the models stolen, I also suggest recording the certificate number on your spreadsheet and taking a shot of the certificate. This way if this ever happens to you there is a slightly greater chance than zero that you can trace your models. It at least gives the police something to go on.

Okay I am up to $0.04 now... I better shut up...

for replacement value, (as in value of models im assuming), look at the closed auctions of the car in question in sold or ebay. or alternatively, Paul (pdg666) or me and also others have a copy of current prices of model cars. give oneof us a buzz if u need one. :)
