Hi Kiwi,
I won't be at Pukekohe this year, but I'm sure it will be a great day.....go Murph.
I think I have mentioned this before...the Pukekohe V8 race is the second biggest motorsport event in NZ after Rally NZ, and gets a big crowd. I have also heard that the Aussie V8's are the second most watched sport on NZ TV after rugby...so there are a few fans over here.
Targa NZ starts today from Auckland and runs all week through the North Island reaching Wellington for Friday and Saturday...so I will be out catching a bit of that. I think you mentioned one time that you once lived in Wellington. Targa has managed to get permission to use some of the local roads which the local car clubs thought were impossible, like the full Paekakariki Hill Road (although that stage may have been cancelled this year as they had a big flood there a couple of weeks ago which did a lot of damage).
Last year Peter Brock was over here racing the Targa in the Monaro, but he's not here now. This year we have Chris Amon and Murray Walker together in a Toyota Camry (I think), so they're the local celebs. Anyway, despite who's running, the Targa is always good spectating, so it will be good to catch some of that later in the week.
