Just wondering what other collectors would like to see on thier shelves. Personally I would like to see the SBR cars and Transporters. Also the B&H M3 driven by Tony Longhurst in the ATCC during 91-92. That would look awesome.

How about our aussie world champs in 1/18th
Jack Brabham and Allan Jones (Mark Webber as well )
You can get all sorts of drivers in F1 models who never amounted to anything. Yet we have 2 world champs and 1/18th models have never been made, surely there is a market for these models considering the amount of F1 collectors world wide.

I especially like to collect Police cars.
All Holden Commodore Vic or Australian Police cars.
I have one VS 1:43, and one Custom VT 1:43 & one custom VT 1:18. also have several other HSV/Holden 1:18 models (GTS, GTS Coupe, Monaro CV8, Clubsport R8, VL Walkinshaw) and some other scale models of 57 chev's.
:)
Lifesize, fully detailed and functioning replica's of all notable Australian Racecars would be nice!!!
Seriously, as said earlier, the Alan Moffat RX7 would be a great model, especially since I've got myself a real-life RX7, and have grown to really like it!

I too would like to see the Mad Max Interceptor from the first film not the second one (the second had the tanks on the back and looks silly).
How about a HX LE Monaro, HX Sandman Panel Van, VH Group 3 and a VK SS Group A (Blue Meanie).
These types of cars have a huge following and would be a great addition to any collection.
I am getting quite sick of the V8 supercars and the GT Falcons.

I'll add to what has already been stated several times before. Let's see more of the earlier cars in Australian Motor Racing history. There's an absolute smorgasbord of models to choose from, regardless of your tastes and I don't care what scale they're in as long as the quality remains the same.
Thanks for reading

What about a few Australian models that would also have strong interest overseas. For example
The 3 car Commodore team that won the Coupe du Roi (team prize) at the 1986 Spa 24 Hour touing car race.
The 'Rothmans' Commodore of Moffat and Harvey that finished 4th at the 1987 Spa 24 Hour race (ok - without the cigarette advertising !).
The 'Kenwood' Porsche 956 of Alan Jones & Vern Schuppan that finished 6th at the 1984 LeMans 24 Hours (Minichamps have already made several 1/43 versions of the Porsche 956 each of limited numbers so perhaps this could similarly be a release of 912 models with a greater proportion of the models being sent to Australia).
The 'Bob Jane T Marts' Porsche 956 of Peter Brock and Larry Perkins also from the 1984 LeMans 24 Hours (a DNF) - repeat as per my comments above.
If Minichamps produce the Brabham BT45 F1 car from 1976 (they released the BT 46 last year) hopefully Biante could commission a limited edition model of the Larry Perkins version which he drove (with little success) at the Canadian, USA & Japanese GP's.
With Minichamps set to produce the '76 - 86 Alfa Romeo GTV perhaps we could also ask Biante to commission the Colin Bond & Alan Jones 'Ignis Fridges' GTV6's from the 1986 Australian Touring Car Championship.
Hopefully some of the above models would be sought after in Europe as well Australia which would increase the 'marketability' of these models and increase the chance of their production.

While this may be a little boring to many of you (there seems a propensity toward Holdens of various vintages), I would like to see Auto Art/Biante produce an R32 GT-R Skyline roadcar in the silver, black and maroon colours that were imported to Australia. They are as much a part of Australia's motoring history as the hot Commodores and Falcons that Australians have traditionally been brought up on. If the Nissans have a slightly rejigged tailight assembly (that differentiated the 100 Australian delivered cars from their domestic Japanese cousins), and the roof mounted aerial, then these models would arguably be a legitimate addition to any 'Australian' model car collection. Auto Art/Biante's breathtaking detail would also make these cars more popular with collectors than they would otherwise be (Japanese cars don't traditionally have a 'massive' following here in Oz as most of you would probably admit).
I would also like to see a Bathurst Winner '91 GT-R Skyline too.
Any interest out there, or am I sailing a solo voyage here?
Thanks for reading.

If there's one model which hasn't been made which should have been made, it's the Lowndes/Skaife 1998 MHRT Bathurst VT. It's the first ever VT built and raced, also the same car that won the 1998 ATCC. Also Holden's 50th anniversary year.
Yes, it is very similar to the 1999 Lowndes/McConville. But if they can release the XYs over and over again, I'm sure it won't hurt to release this particular model. Note the green VB Sponsored wing mirror, and the "SmartBuy" on the front bumper, makes it stand out from the 1999 model.

In my youth I proudly owned an XB GS Falcon Panel Van. V8, lowered, mags, decked out in the back etc. In 1:18 scale, I dare say Panel Vans would look good with opening rear doors to display the interior.
Throughout the seventies manyl types of panel vans were prolific on Australian roads, Chryslers, Holdens, Escorts, Minis.
Probably most privately owned, were modified ("hotted up") and probably don't suit collectors of "stock" models which appear to be the prominent requested models, especially by Biante and AutoArt but I think maybe, one or two of those "vans" from the seventies in 1:18 would sell quite well.

I have resisted posting my own comments here cos many people have already said they would like to see those things I would like to see, but can resist no longer.
My first car was an original EK Holden...it was fantastic and I have always regretted sellling it, so yeah, i would like to see one of these in 1:18 (particularly Blue with a White roof).
I have also been a proud owner of a HQ Panelvan, a green UC Sunbird (with a 253 replacing the original 4cyl...maybe Biante would consider the 2 door 6 cylinder hatch UC), An XY Wagon (wouldn't mind seeing some wagons) and in later years an XF Falcon (I think there were probably no XF's that really deserved mention due to the lack of V8's or special versions but a model would be nice anyway).
Had a coupla Datto's too but most of them were crap, except the 69 Datto 1000 and the 1200 Coupe (yeah models of these wouldn't be too bad either but are straying from the Aussie car thing).
Yep, I've had Fords and Holdens, and whilst I am primarily a Ford fan, I like the older holdens as they are simple to work on (the Fords seem to have extra bits that complicate things).
AS it isany of the older Aussie Fords and Holdens would be cool...XM's, XPs...EK's. HR's, EH's (these would be particularly cool) FJ's....the list goes on.

Lachlan - you mention you want a Datsun 1600. While this is not strictly related to this thread topic (apologies everyone), you may have more luck finding a 1600 through the Ebbro range of 1:43 cars. I know they definitely make Datsun 1200's in coupe and ute (don't laugh, they are excellent quality and look great). Go to www.ebbro.com.hk and have a look at their range. I know that Mark Griffin at 'Model Cars Too' in Sydney imports Ebbro models (he gets them for me), and I also believe that 'Sheriff's Minicars' in Parramatta import them too. Good luck.
And to everyone else, sorry for posting a reply that is not strictly within the bounds of this thread topic. Just helping out a fellow collector!

Thanks for your help Andrew and thekid_600,
I check out the Ebbro site and it was great exactly what I’m looking for, but over seas a Datsun 1600 is called a Bluebird SSS 510?, don’t know why, buts it’s the same car anyway.
Then I rang Mark at ‘Model Cars Too in Sydney and he had all the colours in stock, so I brought one strait away. He’s sending it express post cause I can’t wait for it. I got a white one, as this was the first car I ever owned. (Only 7 years ago). So now I have a new favourite model.
I told him that a guy called Andrew put me on to him (from the Biante site of course), so next time your talking to him say thanks for me. I think he will remember the call cause I was pretty excited.
This is what I like about collecting, fellow collectors helping each other out. We have one happy boy on our hands here!
And to every body laughing at me cause it’s only a Datto, laugh all you want cause there a great little car.

What ever happened to the VT Commodore Police Pursuit car Tango 155? If we are going to have big bad V8 models we might as well have the cop cars that can chase them.
What do a think??
Andrew
09-04-2002, 06:55 AM
To Lachlan,
No worries mate. Glad you found what you wanted. You should be pretty happy with the quality of the model when you get it too, although there will obviously be little differences between the Aussie market 1600 that you owned compared to the Japanese version.
Its good that Ebbro is making these 'lesser' known cars (ie. non Ferrari, Porsche etc.), as you and I have proved there is definitely a market for them.
Keep an eye out for Ebbro's early 70's Corolla - it should be a great little car.
Cheers,
Andrew

Yes, yes, more Xy's of course ( I owned a track red phase 3 myself) but the only Holden I interested in is Brock's Marlboro A9X (anyone want my 2001 Skaife, it's looking out of place amonst my growing Moffet collection!).
A model dealer was trying to tell me it cannot be produced because of the tobacco advertising.
It sounds like crap ( I'm sitting here looking at the Camel stickers on my Federation Falcon ) but I'm thinking this could be the only reason such a classic hasn't been produced seeing the white one was done.
Now, this subject must have come up ages ago, but I can't see anything in the forums. Could someone please inform the ignorant?

The MHDT cars will be produced as part of the Brock collection however they will not have the "M" words on them. The camels could be placed on the Moffat car because that is all they are, little camels, the words are the problem.
No doubt some people out there will make up the decals and you can convert the cars to full tobacco livery if you wish, just like heaps of people have done with the Skaife/Richards Nissan.

RE: BROCK MARLBORO A9X
So, let me get this right.
You can publish double-page photos of it as well as ads to purchase the full-size poster in magazines (see current Aus. Muscle Car to name just one). Presumably have its image on the front cover and, therefore displayed out front of newsagents but you can't buy a model to display in the privacy of your own home?
Only one answer: the law is an ass.
Richard Poole
22-04-2002, 06:11 PM
That is correct. In the eyes of the government our models are "toys" and as such, can't display cigarette logos.

Frosty,
Just picked it up from the P.O.
It looks great on the shelf with the others. My wife is somewhat less impressed tho " Is that ANOTHER one of those Moffat cars?" was the only response! At least my 3yo daughter showed more interest with " I like shiny cars!...do the doors open?"
That's life in a house of females!

As part of the ongoing Brock collection, I'd like to see the BMW 3.0 CSL which he raced at the LeMans 24hr in 1976. Minichamps have done the 3.5 CSL.
This would be an interesting model to go with his other touring cars.
Maybe even his HDT VB Commodore from his 1979 Round Australia trial, with the 'as race' mud as well for effect.

Great suggestions above, here are a few of my favourites:
- Any early Brabham cars (Cooper, Brabham BT11, Repco BT23A etc)
- Early GTs (XR, XT)
- 1968 London to Sydney XT GTs
- Kevin Bartlett's Channel 9 Camaro {before it crashed :)}
- Some Group C's like the Chickadee Commodore, '85 Skyline etc
All in 1:18 of course!
Admin, could you give us any idea on whether we will see the 1994 EB Falcon of DJR at all??? Looking forward to getting mine!!
Ed :)
As much as I like the V8's and am glad to see their popularity, as well as the hobby shops bursting with scale models, I would really like to see Frank Matich's SR3 and SR4 sportscars along with Geoghegan's Mustang. Do I live in forlorn Hope? The model of Moffat's Mustang gives me slight hope. The current interest in Yankland with CanAm cars and the models current and projected by companies like Minichamps and Peach/GMP give a glimmer of hope of at least seeing the SR3. I drool over anything with Gulf colours such as the Ford GT40's and Porsche 917's. I had a chance of buying a 1/18th model of the No.6 Ickx LeMans winner by Revell that was on sale at Yennora Hobbies just before it was burgled and closed down. I was only interested in 1/43 scale then, and now I'm spitting chips as it would have looked sensational next to Moff's Mustang.

Silver was not the only colour. I remember nearly buying a light/mid green either a Grp 2 or Grp 3 version with gold pinstriping and gold Bathurst mags. Looked very nice.
The Geminis also came as Grp 1, 2 and 3 versions. The Grp 1 was just a Gemini with the flares etc, 2 was modified engine and 3 I think had a turbo. Can not remember what the difference between the Grp2 and 3 Commodes.

1995 Johnson/Bowe 12hr Winning Rx7
Considering the huge volume of what could be called obscure or 1 race Brock models that have been released so far to date, I feel this has to be a definite starter for the (what seems forgotten) Dick Johnson collection !!!
I think it should be made but not as part of his collection. (just my view)
Lets get the Mustang, Eb's and El first

Hadnt thought of that, good suggestion. 79 one as well then.

Hi Guy's,
I would love to see the Rothmans HDT VL Group A raced by Moffat & Harvey in Eurpope in '87.
The car is virtually identical to the Brock VL race cars (it was a Brock car) so would be a simple variation to the units currently in development by Biante.
Cheers,
James

The Brock 79 Repco car would be a great part of the PB Collection as he considered it to be his best win in his career.
What do you guys think the chance of Brock's Peugeot 405 being made is?? :D
maq, why would you not considered having the DJ RX7 part of his collection?
Not an attack just wondering (I agree about the Mustang, EB - EL's being made. The Helix cars would look great!)
I just think they should stick to A.T.C.C cars. Plus if they put "collection" on the C.O.A. I will have to Buy the damn thing :)
Imagine the Helix EL in 1:18 DROOL

HI.

I'd love to see a Johnson/Bowe RX-7 - the BP sponsored car and Triple M car.
I'd also like to see in 1:18:
Peter Stuyvesant Moffat RX-7
Leyland P76 Targa Florio
George Fury Bluebird Turbo
Seton R30 Skyline
Skaife R31 Skyline
Possum Bourne 4 door Group A Impreza
Possum Bourne 4 door 555 Rally NZ
Possum Bourne Impreza WRC P2000
Bates Celica GT4 Championship winning car
Bates Corolla WRC 1998-9 ARC
Bates Corolla WRC 1997 Rally Indonesia
I'm sure I can think of more. To me, cars like the Moffat RX-7 and Bourne and Bates Championship cars are more important than 15,000+ "Brock 01" diecasts.

Fair call depending on your point of view. Mine is a little biased. :o
I still can't believe Sir Jack's winner in the car of his own construction hasn't been done though.
It will never happen again and is a very special car IMO.

I didn't say the "Brock 01" shouldn't happen - I just can't see it is more important to build ahead of a lot of other cars. Then I also can't see why there needs to be so many of them. I DO think it should be made because it is an important car in the life and later career of Brock, but other cars were more important to the careers of other great drivers and those cars were proper competition machines that brought great success.
Like Brabham and his cars. I totally 1,000,000% agree with you Wayne - it is a travesty that Sir Jack's cars have not been made in 1:18. Biante have proved with the "Brock 01" that they can tool any type of car they like (even if it is only 'half' a car), so a World Championship winning F1 car built and driven by an Australian would be a no-brainer. Can you imagine that in the beautiful new black inserted clamshell packaging that Biante have used with the Brock VK? It'd be a knockout!

I think it would be fantastic if this was started up again, because im sure there are many cars that many would like to be made and therefore would sell well. Why not add this to the website again Biante?

Also, again as btji states, Minichamps did the red/blue/white cars in 1/43. They did three of them, the #3 Brad Jones championship car, then the following year both the #1 Jones car and the #11 McConville car.
