After doing a bit of a search on Subaru I found that AutoArt are about to release some 1:64 scale rally cars as well.

Coming soon from AutoArt are,
MITSUBISHI LANCER EVO VII WRC - 2002 Rallye Monte-Carlo - Delecour / Grataloup #7
MITSUBISHI LANCER EVO VII WRC - 2002 Rallye Monte-Carlo - McRae / Senior #8
SUBARU IMPREZA WRC - 2002 Rally of Great Britain - Solberg / Mills #11
SUBARU IMPREZA WRC - 2002 Rallye Monte-Carlo - Makinen / Lindstrom #10

Also good to see are the 2003 SWRT cars are now in production planned status (in 1:43 & 1:18 scale) also made by AutoArt.

Perhaps admin might be able to answer this question, but I was wondering if we'll see the Prodrive editions of both the Solberg & Makinen cars like we saw last year ???

It was great to see the Prodrive cars as in my opinion the AutoArt ones didn't seem to have the right colour yellow on them. The AA cars appeared to be a little duller than the fluro yellow that we see on the cars & the Prodrive models.

Good to see that some of the 2003 cars are on the way & hopefully after next week's Rally of Britan we might see the #1 on the doors of the 2004 Solberg / Mills Subaru Impreza.

cheers. :)

Hi Brad,

I don't think you're correct about the above statement regarding the ProDrive/Autoart cars and their colours.

I have both the Prodrive model and the Autoart models and the yellow on all models is the same colour. Also, the Prodrive box says the Makkinen model is made by Autoart, so I guess they are pretty much the same model.

I think you may be confusing the colour with the IXO 1/43 WRC Imprezza models, which do have a more flourescent yellow colour than the Autoart models.

Still it's great to see more rally car models on the way. I see the Marko Martin Monte Carlo model is also "In Transit", but this just another older style Focus. The new Focus with the big front bumper was debuted at Rally NZ this year in April.

Actually the Autoart rally models I'm really looking forward to (after Possum) are the Escorts and Audi Quattros which have been listed as "Coming Soon" on the Autoart website for a while now.

G'day, I'll post a pic tonight to show what I was talking about. I've got a Richard Burns AutoArt car & the yellow on it appears to be more of a darker colour than the Prodrive one I've got.

I know this isn't anything major as it fantastic to get some models of the WRC Impreza's as they are my fav rally cars. Subaru are my fav no-Australian brand of car & hense it fantastic seeing their cars being made. After many, many miles in various Subaru's i have soft sport for them.

I've got a few early iXO cars & their yellow is different as well as you've mentioned.

Can't wait to see the new cars soon.

cheers. :)

I agree that the yellow is incorrect. While I haven't put the Tommi Prodrive car next to the Dick Burns AutoArt, the Burns car is definately the wrong shade. It should be a greeny yellow rather than the (almost) gold that it is. I believe that the yellow originated on the early '90s cars but it is still the wrong shade for that too. Doesn't stop me from collecting them tho'.

Good news for Rally Oz fans...

I've just found the following Autoart model in 'Production Planned'...

Petter Solberg - 2003 Rally Australia (http://www.biante.com.au/merchandise.cfm?mode=vie w&MerchandiseID=12860)

I'm sure this will be a popular model on release.

(In fact Biante, you can put my name down for one now....:) )

This one will look good in my collection and lets hope that this time the yellow is the right shade

The 2 other cars I would like to see are the Petter Solberg with the big well deserved No.1 on the side and Tommis last drive where they replaced Subaru World Rally Team with Tommi World Rally Legend. Two to look forward to next year. ;)

On the Prodrive releases:

they have already released 1/43s of Petter Solberg's Monte Carlo 1/4000 i think
and again of Makinen's Sweden...similar to last yr's release but w/out the lightpod......already available on some international sites...but no clue on the swrt site or biante....when will they come? Richard, anyone?

and on the yellow colour- has already been discussed.....it seems that autoart's is a darker yellow than that used on the rally cars: more like the trofeu and ixo decals colour...hope this helps :)

Yeah...I'd like to see the Tommi World Rally Legend car as well in 1/18. I have the feeling we will see it.

Well here is a great sign, a whole bunch of 1/18 and 1/43 Solberg and Makinen Subaru WRC cars have been added to the Production Planned listings, including the Tommi World Rally Legend rally GB car from SunSpark.

I must admit that I will be buying models for accuracy of decals. I'll have to go back to this years videos to check which ones don't have offensive numbers on the doors.

I think you'll find that there won't be any cars produced with 555 on the doors as the counties in which they are made have laws preventing so.

Personally I don't see how 555 is offensive to people. Tell me people in Australia would even know what it was if it wasn't for all of the government warning stickers ???

cheers. :)

Yeah, it's ridiculous. Now just gotta work out which rallies Petter ran in a car with no tobacco signage.

Wh cares if tobacco advertising is on a car its not gonna make you run out and buy Rothmans or Marlboro now is it just because its on a car.

In the 80's in the UK Rothmans backed a lot of rallying and if it wasnt for them well rallying wouldnt of been as good as it was.

Try and collect as many tobacco branded rally models as you can asthey go up in value if you can get them.

I have a Delacour Evo 7 Monte car with Marlboro branding on it plus others

Well guys Prodrive have released some pretty flash 1:43 cars to celebrate Petter's win of the WRC

3 car set (http://www.biante.com.au/merchandise.cfm?mode=vie w&MerchandiseID=12934)

2 car set (http://www.biante.com.au/merchandise.cfm?mode=vie w&MerchandiseID=12933)

All cars have drivers inside of them, which makes them that little bit more different to the ones that iXO & AutoArt make.

cheers. :)

Actually, I'm not too worried....you win a few, you loose a few....I think it's better not to miss out, particularly if it's a model you'd really like....:)

Even though Biante have a number of the 2004 prodrive releases down as production planned, i thought i'd put down the data that i've been so far able to get on them :)

As per 2002 there has been a number of changes made, the 2 pack of new zealand will apparently now be a twin pack of the tour de corse- same as 02...the three pack will contain cars from new zealand, germany and sweden- hopefully not solberg's swedish car as IXO are already doin that....the two single cars will remain japan and Mexico for solberg and hirvonen respectively....also touted are 1/18s of solberg from last yrs swedish rally and makinen from last yrs finish rally, plus a 1/18 of one of solberg's 2004 cars.......so that makes 4 possible 1/18 prodrive releases if the GB car admin have down is made- some sites i've visited do have this as a release.....

This info is primarily from http://www.swapmeet-models.co.uk/catalog/downloads/prodrive.htm, who have changed a number of the releases- including the twin and three packs in recent weeks from the info admin have down....

Well there's the data...sounds like another fine yr of prodrive releases :D
