Anyone like the idea of a twin turbo V8 that can accelerate to 100 km in 3 sec, achieve a top speed of 400 kmh and maintain this performance for 24 hrs ? Makes a V8 Supercar drive at Bathurst look like a walk in the park !
LeMans 2002 has just began ! Earlier today famous names like Audi, Bentley, MG, Cadillac, Ferrari, Porsche and Corvette have began the battle for this years race (and to determine which models will make my collection !). Can't wait to see who the winner will be and the resulting models from Minichamps, IXO and Spark over the coming months.
Any other LeMans collectors out there ?

Hey Marty
They could make LeMans more interesting for the Aussie's by having a special catagory for the V8 Supercars. Unfortunately after 24 hrs of racing Skaife / HRT would be leading (but 1000 km behind the winning Audi's) and all the Ford's would have long since retired due to mechanical failure. It would be just like every other round of the V8 Supercars this year - only longer (**Yawn**).

Well i d love to see the V8 Supercars over here on the Nürburgring( the whole track of course!!!) Would be pretty exciting cos the germans dont have to offer a lot of V8 action..(YAAAAAWWWWWNNNN) 1000kms behind the winning Audis is a bit optimistic huh? ;-) I ve been at the 24 h at the Nürburgring this year and made some pics of the australian racers...i ll post them in this forum when they are developed...see you :-)

there was an West Australian entry in it ,in a new Beetle if I am not wrong or it could be that I am confussed with the GP Australia
where the Hammerlock sponsored entry did compete
Brock did do some racing in europa wit a Vk or Vl I do remember that he did Spa/Francochamps so the big v8 bangers have been over there.

Yes, ferrarifan, I remember something about Brockie doing a 24hr Spa race, I think it was about 1986 or '87, in the VL Grp A. (If I'm wrong, its 'cause I'm a Ford fan. Maybe a true 'Brockite' can correct me?)
Now a question for Admin: will THAT car feature in the Brock Collection? As one of the few Aussie 4 door cars to compete O/S, surely it is significant enough.
Food for thought...
Cheers, ET

Aren't the German DTM cars V8's. I have a Minichamps model of the Jagermeister sponsored Opel Astra V8 and it looks awesome. Unfortunately I've never seen the actual cars race - just pictures and articles on the net.

@jager
Yep the cars are looking great.I also have the Astra V8 from Winkelhock (Sport Bild) but mine is done by Action Performance...1/18...Is yours 1/18 too? The cars of the new V8 Star series are also looking good..but as i mentionned..the races are pretty boring cos they have short sprint races and a "must-pit-stop" ..its just something different than 1 long race...If you like i can record he next race for you on VHS...that might give you the best impression of the DTM..
regards Marty
