Does anyone know when we are likely to see some models of the Ford Falcon EB GT and EL GT?
Cheers

I hope that profitability on these cars isn't an issue due the fact that the number of colours were so limted.
On the other hand, more people should be able to afford to get the entire sets.

I know where you're coming from gan as a lot of the tradionalists didn't like the way those GT's went away from a pure performance car to more of a Grand Tourer.
I know I'd buy all 3 EB GT's in 1:18 as for me it was the first new Falcon GT I was alive for to see (& I got to sit in GT #P05 at the proving grounds during a tour about a week after they were released).
cheers. :)

Yep, it was the first new GT during my lifetime too. They must be very rare cos I hardly see any on Brisbane streets.

I've got one, and I live in Bris Vegas :D
I've only ever seen one other since I bought mine in July this year, and that was black (mine's cobalt blue). I know there are a few around, it's just that none of the owners drive them much (or at all).
Also, in the event that they are released in 1:18 is there any chance I could get the car which matches my model number (i.e. xxx/250), or am I going to have to search the entire country for the person that bought the model, and then have to pay a kings ransom for it.
Wasn't there some special allowances made for original Cobra owners when those models were released, or am I dreaming?

The Cobra thing was different though, they were only talking about 30 cars. 250 is a lot of cars/drivers to track down.

Well I sat in #P05, so does that mean I can get model # 05 :D !!!!
As for the actual number I don't really care, so long as one day I can have one or a few in my collection & if they all came out at once, there would be nothing to buy in future year.
cheers :)

Biante did the certificate thing for the owners of all 400 Cobras, but said afterwards that it was a hell of a job and weren't going to do it again. I guess it was early days and they were trying things out, but they're older and much wiser now!

That's a shame (for me anyway). Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on the right model & certificate one way or another. I'm just worried that whomever ends up with it will want to take advantage of my desire to get the model to match my car.:(
Oh well, I guess it's a problem which I'll sort out when (if) the models are ever released.

I also have a 1/1 model and would like to get the matching 1/18 model if it happens.
Also, are they going to do the DJR EB ?

G'day GT bloke & welcome to our fantastic forum :)
The mighty DJR EB Falcon has been talked about on many, many occusions & we are yet to hear an offical announcement about it being made, but one can only assume that it will come, but at sometime in the future.
Earlier in the year admin did say that there were begining to develop the moulds/tooling for the EB/EL's & I guess in the next 12 months we may hear some more about it.
Also DJR are in the the process of re-building an EB racer, so i would guees that once it is completed Biante will then be able to do all the necessary measurements, etc......., that are required to get this vehicle made scale.
Sorry that i can not be anymore help than this.
cheers.:)

Thats good news that DJR are rebuiling an EB. Something else to add to the museum, between the Sierra, an EB, and the XD/E/F's, Im absolutly dying more than ever to get to Qld and have a look/see!

Brchi17 - Do you know which EB DJR are rebuilding? I read an add for the 'visit djr' thing a little while ago and amongst other things the add mentioned that the '94 Bathurst winner was amongst the collection there. Interesting, as this car became Bowe's '95 Championship winning re-panelled EF and was destroyed in the PI shunt of '96.
I always thought they'd have the EB panels stashed away somewhere and could maybe do a botch job on the wreck for display purposes!
Would you have any further info on this.
I also remember that the original '92 EB that became a 'prototype' (as CAMS knocked it's eligibility back) became the show car, and that too was re-panelled into an EF and later an EL. I take it that thats the EL that I've seen in the DJR museum photo's. Again, any ideas.

I was at the DJR workshop on Tuesday , If I'm in the neigbourhood I like to call in and have a good look at all the old race cars , the EB was in the show room but only about half finished . But you would think it will be the 94 Bathurst winner.

Now I could be wrong, but I've got a feeling that the car currently being built up to look like the 1994 Bathurst winner is actually the 1993 car that crashed approching McPhillimy Park (where Dick's head hit the wall & prompted the introduction of driver side nets in all cars).
As you've said the actual bathurst winning car was the one that JB destroyed at PI (then coverted to EF form) & i think it was scrapped after that crash.
That about all I know.
cheers. :)

His head hit the wall? How would the nets help prevent this?

Put simply, Dick's head hit the wall because the driver's window was open & his head was outside of the car. Had a window net been in place, his head would have remained inside the car & hense contact could have been avoided.
Just have a look at any old pic's of Dick going around a right hand corner & you'll see the top of his helmet outside the car window.
cheers. :)

Yea, exctually & hense why those door net's became compulsary for the following season & have been ever since. From memory it wasn't a big hit on the wall, but more of a wiplash thing as the car hit the wall & slide along it until it came to a rest hard up against the wall on the driver's side.
I guess it might be a long while before we see the EB & EL models as there is nothing I can find about them anywhere on the Biante website.
However there are a couple of EF's out for those who are interested.
cheers. :)

He wouldn't have been going as fast at Forest Elbow when compared to the approach to McPhillamy.

No, Dick said the '93 bang-up was the worst of his career. He didn't have the same dead stop sideways in the tree crash.

Yea, at least when he went off the road in '83 there were some leafy trees to softern the impact, '93 saw nothing but solid concrete wall !!!
At least he walked away from it & that has got to be good after any accident.
Heading back to orignal topic, it would be good if admin could give any suggestion of a rough guessed-a-mit of when we might see these cars. Now I'm sure no one expects a release date, but maybe even just a little bit of information of when we may se these cars, be it 1 month, 1 year or more.
cheers. :)

Now earlier in the the year (March I think) when it was announced that cc got the FPR team, that this would allow the team to speed up the development of the EB/EL's road & race cars.
Now as the year fast runs to an end, I was wondering if admin could share with us the progress of these models ???
cheers. :)

I've stumbled upon this old thread and was wondering what peoples thoughts were in when and if we might see the EB GT now that we've got some of the EB Supercars out?
I don't know much about the model making business but I would of thought that the shell, bonnet, boot, doors, windows and dash board would all be able used with just a body kit, interior, wheels and engine to be made.
