hey all,
i have quite a few models 1:18 for sale ranging from xe greens tuff, brock vr's, brock 2002 bathurst etc. Apart from going through all the hassle of joing e-bay, where would be the most effective place to sell?

The Biante Auction Site. Its free, easy & very effective... I've sold at least 20 models on there so far & no problems

ebay would get you the greatest exposure.
But I've bought quite a few cars from the Biante Buy/Sell/Swap pages.

Biante Auctions are a good place to sell...you can even set up your auction to end in the year 2005 - see auction 2663 ( Allan Moffat XW GTHO #64E)...

I did see that, but why?
The only issue I have with Biante Auctions is the buyer premium.
eBay has been good for me!

If you sell on ebay there is a charge for the seller anyway. Buyers don't see it but it is there. It's just that on the Biante Auction site all charges are shown for all to see.
I've been buying and selling on the auction site for a month or two and it has been good for me!
Good luck.

Agreed, but it's not as excessive as the Biante Site I have sold and purchased on both.
E.G. $60 item on eBay would cost the seller about $4.65 to list and sell if it was listed above $50, less if below, same item on Biante would cost $6.60 to the buyer which isn't really an incentive to buy.

...dont forget the buy/swap/sell section of this biante website.
it costs neither party any commision/premium and it works very well, there are plenty of members who use it.
this method can be much quicker and positions you to sell multiple items to the one buyer.
check it out

How safe is it on buy/swap/sell? Is there any rating system?

As safe as crossing the road during the day... There is a risk no matter where you buy or sell. I tried selling an item on the Biante site but that went down the tubes due to the communication and in the end a non-payer...
I have bought and sold a few items from the B/S/S pages. With no problems at all. I have often found the prices to be better than what is offered on the auction sites. The good thing is like people have mentioned is it is free to both parties - bad thing I guess is there is no place to fall back on if all goes wrong. I am lucky that all the people I have dealt with are very nice.

Yep, have to agree.
The same goes for E-Bay etc, there's dishonest people on those sites too.
I like to think that the people on the Biante Auction site, and the people on B/S/S are keen collectors such as myself, and are eager to do the right thing.
The people I've dealt with so far have been excellent!
But in the end as always, do some homework if you're not sure.

Ewanj if your selling 1/18 Biantes/Autoart and they are mint would try Biante Auction , or B/S/S since most people on this site are already interested in them.and they know the real value of your cars.
Ebay has over 500 Biante cars listed so its more competitive, and you get a lot of buyers looking at other things and dont always know the real value of diecasts ,so if your lucky you may get more than its worth.

My vote is with the Buy sell swap section, I have never had any problems with payment or collection. The only thing that annoys me is that you get a lot of timewasters or dead ads.
I dont like the Biante auction site, to much mucking around to sell something and costs more to buy. I used to use sold.com, but thats gone now.

ebay is ok for the buyer, and not too bad for the seller. Plus there is a rating system for prospective buyers to check out sellers too.
Biante Auctions can become quite expensive for the buyer, by the time you add commission and GST to the knock down price. But as a seller, it's a winner, because you don't pay to list an item even if you don't end up selling it. You can use it as a testing ground by setting your reserve price really high, and just keep relisting it and reducing your reserve bit by bit each time.
The Buy/Swap/Sell is good for both buyer and seller as there are no charges for either party outside of the selling price including shipping charges.
I've used all modes and while ebay gives the buyer the ability to check out the sellers form, you don't get that with Buy/Swap/Sell. But with 30 odd transactions using BSS I've only had a problem with one seller. He wasn't prepared to accept a deposit, enough to cover postage both ways with balance Aussie Post COD, so I refused to buy. Can't help thinking this guy was hiding something.
So, as a seller, try Biante Auctions first, BuySwapSell second, and then ebay third, but I am guessing you will have sold your cars before getting to ebay.
