Hi people out there i have been collecting biante models since they first come out i tried finding a white twin mirror gtho i found one with a price tag of $2000, what a joke i thought we collected the cars for the love of australian cars not the big fat profit some greedy people think thay can get if people like us true collectors dont pay stupid prices maybe these people will find something else to do rather than rip the average lover of australian cars off what do you people out there think.

I agree. I am missing the white and red xy, but there is no way I am giving someone a huge profit like that.
It will never stop as there are always people who can afford the mark up, and are willing to pay it.

Its supply and demand. And remember its us the buyers that set the price by paying it. Don't get me wrong Iam not a profiteer I have not sold any of my cars but I am a realist if some body wants something bad enough they will pay the amount (I have done it plenty of times "paid too much") and up it goes for the next person wanting the same car.

Its a shame but its the way of the world. The thing that really gets me going is the retailer that buys 6 cars off Biante sells 4 holds 2 and brings them out a month later with a price hike of 500%, this is profitering, buying at wholesale and making a killing after the item has gone to sold out status on the Biante website.

These are the guys that need to be taken care of by Biante, leave them with Mattel and BBurago to sell and see how they go.

All those in Sydney will know who Iam talking about.

Aussie yeah there is one place in sydney I will never buy a model off. We went in there the other night and they had a XY GT HO in Wild Voilet. Asking price was 600 bucks. DJR collection AU was fetching 295 bucks. I think you can still buy that car online.

The last twin mirror XY Ultra white I saw was 1200 bucks. Personally I don't sell cars. I buy one and keep it. I do have a friend though who has a single mirror ultra white XY GT HO for sale and he wants around the 500 mark. I dont have one, but be buggered if I am about to spend that much money.

I can give you another example,at the Canberra 400 i had to try and get a Tru Blu XD for a mate who missed out thanks to our local model shop. Thier is a dealer thats always there who had some with a price of $295.00 on them and this is just after release, i went across to the DJR truck and got one for $180.00 of Dickies brother.

A few nights ago on SOLD , a standard Ultra White XY was up to $750. The big selling point was a that it has a low certificate number 0005. WOW.

whilst i agree the price paid for these models is rich, the last one i saw sell for $1500, you need to remember there were only 900 produced and even less now mint.
compare that to models numbering 6000 or more and you can see there is some reason for its escalation in price.

i want one

I Agree with you Aussiecollector ,Regarding the High prices in Sydneys Metropolitan shops, inflating values ,for people who have no access to internet it is difficult to compare the value for money.
Saw a Greens Tuf for $700 unbelievable.

What goes up does come down, the dinkum Tru Blu and Greens Tuf ,are examples of that.

Yeah i agree Highlander, i had some nice Dinkum 1/24th Brock commodores that i have recently sold for well below what i paid for them and thats to be expected know that Biante are bringing them out and thats ok with me but i think the model shops inflated the prices on these things to begin with. Another example of certain shops i know of inflating prices is the is the Skaife car that had his name spelt incorrectly, the model shop down my way immediatley tripled the price because of this supposedly rare mistake,it was beat up so much that they were selling in Sydney for over $1000.oo. The only trouble with it all was that is a mistake after all and it was on every car not just a few but that wasn't mentioned by the model shop i am refering to . Anyway i am starting to ramble, have a good one ANDO.

I know theres a shop at Hornsby Westfeild that is a automotive store that sells alot of different things,eg car sterios, hot up parts.
Well I saw they sell modelcars but at bloody ridiculas prices.
They selling a Lowndes first falcon 1/18 for $500,a Lowndes/Crompton Qld 500 for $550 and a Johnson/Johnson Bathurst 99 1/18 for $300.
Now is that ridiculas or what.
Thurther down theres a little store near David Jones called Top Hat with are modelcar proffesionals and sell models for resinable prices(I got a few 1/18 and 1/43 Auto art display cases from them).

Its good to see that more people are becoming aware of the good and bad shops.

The best example of the goose retailer I am referring to is the Skaife / Lowndes 2000 Bathurst car now on sale for the over produced price of $100.00 at the HRT / HSV distribution centre. The retailer has it in his shop stating rare and limited $500.00, HRT has a pellet of them.

All I can say is beware form networks like here and with good retailers, play the overpriced ones and only buy when they have discount sales.

I have every HRT released and have only paid more than original price on (1) the Skafe / Morris $250.00 private sale 2 months ago. The retailer above has it listed at $1200.00 and has had it in the store since the day it arrived from Biante. I know I had it in my hand and then they took it back saying it was not for sale the owner wanted it, one week later it has a nice new price sticker on it. Also beware of the so called signed cars in this store, some of the signatures are pretty ordinary.

Keep your eyes open and in touch with other serious motorsport collectors.

Heres to well managed production runs of all V8 Supercars issued from now on.

Cheers

Yeah to true Glenn, there is another example of this model shop i am refering to in regards to the Skaife/Richards Nissan, he's got it up to over $500.00 the last time i was there but they are easily picked up for around $300.00 on the Biante buy/sell/swap site which i hope is about the right value as i am about to get one,got to go the wife is heading this way. I'm the one who payed $1500.00 for the twin mirror what you have to remember is out of the 900 cars there are only 134 that had twin mirrors that is why i was repared to pay this for rarest of rare cars

We have the same problem over here in NZ where you soon learn which shops to avoid though you will often find that the same shop will have a rare model at a reasonable price which just shows how unpredictable and fun our hobby of collecting can be. Without access to the net and watching some of the auction sites, some people are obviously getting ripped off. I bought the 2000 Skaife VT for NZD$180-00 which is still readily available and our local shop here had 2 for sale at NZD$350-00.

it thought that there were 900 twin mirrors with 134 signed by the main man from biante..is that right?
if so, is a signed one worth more than unsigned?

regarding inflated retail prices...CAVEAT EMPTOR...

Ando,

I think we all agree that the twin mirror is a one off in terms of High priced Australian Cars. In the words or Bruce McEvany "Its special". There is nothing else like it and it would be re-issued.

Its the blatent rip off's that we should be high lighting.

If we don't buy them then they can not sell them.

Always on the hunt for a bargin.
(1/18th Hakkinen 97 test car discounted at recent 20% off sale, I got it at the right price)

I suppose the question should be asked:

If YOU owned a white twin mirror, and IF you owned every other car you wanted, what would YOU think is a fair price to let YOUR collection be incomplete?

Personally, i dont want an incomplete collection, but if someone is offering $1000 for any particular car in my collection, they can have it!

Ive found there are a LOT of very silly, very lazy, very wealthy people out there that want everyone to do everything for them.

Biante info: August, 1998 - Dealers display model - Ultra white - 900 pcs. Some had single mirrors and some twin. THESE ARE NOT PART OF THE COLLECTION but some shopkeepers sold them and now they change hands at crazy money.

September, 1998 - Ultra White XY Falcon GTHO 4,500 pcs - in window box with numbered certificates - all had 1 external mirror.

So how many twin mirrors and how many single mirrors?

Can admin inform us of the history of these cars

thanks

so i can assume there were 900 dealer display white models released prior to the track red official first model.

were they all signed by the biante director?

were there 134 or 450 twin mirrors?

and why was there this variation at all?

terrine
did there back wheels go forward?

I couldn't believe my eyes!! 2 large for a biante on sold .com.
Supply and demand is well and truly alive and they reckon that
there is no money around. If only I could paint my silver fox and
vermillion fire white or make a couple of white left mirrors. heheh
