Admin,

Not being a computer Techie I am not sure if this is possible on your site but I will ask the question anyway.

Is it possible to have a watch list or an “Alert Me button for Club members?

Everyday somebody, me included is asking when is this car or that car going to be released it must consume a fair bit of time to answer everybody so I was thinking about the Alert Me button like they have at Ebay.

Here’s how I thought it could work, any model already listed as scheduled for production has the option of the Member placing the Model number on a watch list limited to five cars per member. When the model goes from "scheduled" to "instock" the system emails the member and they are able to buy it ASAP. This would be great for the very limited cars that go very quickly, and for people that can not get on the net every day to check the status of the cars that they are chasing.

Its just a thought, that I thought I would run by you. If anybody else thinks this is a good idea show your support.

Cheers Glenn

Terrific idea Glenn, but Biante might disagree stating that they provide weekly e-mail notifications and urging the members to keep their e-mail addresses current. As for me, I think it would be simpler just to add: "Model is expected in stock by..." to the "Scheduled to production" section.

Its a couple of good ideas Glenn and Sergey.

You are right that the most questions we get are about when does such and such arrive, but internally we have looked at all ways of doing this and the Collectors weekly newsletter is the best way.

"If you are that keen, you will subscribe"...thats our reckoning.

Please remember we have not just got 6 or 7 Australian cars to advise people of, but, at last count, we had over 4000 new models in the system.

This Fridays container from China for example had 7 cars added and 2 taken out on Wednesday, 3 taken out and 5 added Thursday and now one is late and the shipment is not til next week. And by then another is ready and it all starts again. You guys don't want to know all this I assure you. Easier to subscribe to the newsletter and be told when they are in our hot little hands!

We NEVER put models on the site without telling everyone in the newsletter first.

And...to 'delivery date' each one of the 4000 odd new releases would take ages and then if just 10% got delayed for any reason, thats 400 notices we have to put out weekly. Haven't got time to do that I can assure you!!!

Thanks Admin, you pretty much covered every thing and even gave me the answer to me next question. Which was what about modles released in between newsletters. But you have stated that the Newsletter precedes the Models so I guess that covers it.

That really what I was trying to establish whether there is a gap between release and notification.

So from now on I will loof forward to the Friday evening Newsletter. And here it comes now, damn still no Hakkinen DTM, maybe next week.

Maybe the reply you posted needs to be a News Item in the newsletter or on the Home page to slow down the number of daily "when is it being released questions".

Thanks again and I look forward to seeing the DTM in the New arrivals page.

Personally, I would like to see a little note or an icon like the letter "B" placed in the details section of models currently in production or secheduled. This would give collectors an indication as to whether or not the model has a brochure. I, like probably a lot of collectors out there are getting fed up with unscrupulous dealers out there who fail to provide brochures with cars that came with them! At least this way we can have a clear indication as to whether or not the models came with brochures or not and argue the point with the dealers.

Just my thoughts!
