Form so far, particularly Lowndes, would indicate you'll probably be right:rolleyes:

The GP form doesn't mean much as far as V8 supercar drivers ar concerned, I am going by previous years results.

Ambrose
skaife
bright
Lowndes

were all very strong there in the past

So if your looking at the GP as a form guide you must know alot about V8 supercars:rolleyes:

HRT had a good run there over the past years, and even from the back.

When was the last Adelaide round win for Ambrose or Lowndes (in a Ford)? For that matter when was the last time Ford won an Adelaide round?

Last years podium was:

Skaife
Richards
Bright

with Todd Kelly 4th

I'd be silly to say Ford doesn’t have the goods but, the 12 month old form guide doesn't help your cause either!

The Clipsal 500 has been HRT's stomping ground for a few years now so history has them doing well.

Just remember the only competetive BA Falcon is Ambrose. Ingall has a good car but he is too busy playing bumper cars with the Holdens. The rest of the Ford Teams have got a long way to go to catch the Stone Brothers this year.

My tips for Adelaide Quartet are

Skaife
Ambrose
Bright
Murphy

Dark Horse is the Orrcon Team drivers

Just to mention a few,

Lowndes race 1 winner in 2001 (FORd)

Ambrose 3rd in race 1 2002

Lowndes 4th in race 1 2002

lowndes 4th in race 2 2002

Ambrose 1st in race 1 2003

These are not great results compared to HRT record.
It just prooves what i stated before that the above 2 ford drivers always go ok at the clipsal 500

Just finished reading the HRT book - maybe being the owner (or whatever Skaifes role is) is taking a toll on him - time will tell.

From the V8 site -

"Skaife has missed a Top 10 shootout just four times in 46 races since the fastest lap concept was introduced in 2001. For the first time in the history of the shootout the Holden Racing Team does not have a car in the Top 10."

Also anybody notice that PWR have changed the colour of their bonnet?

I wonder if HRT were trying some different set-ups (for the race) & they got caught out come qualifying ???

It's hard to imagine HRT being sooooo far down the grid, & I really don't expect them stay there during the race, espically at Adelaide.

I reckon Murph will do it tomorrow, he was by far the fastest in the last third of the race, had he pitted when Ambrose had it would have been all over rover for SBR.

Interesting to hear that the SBR cars were covering the K-mart pit when both Ambrose and Ingall pitted at the same time.

All in all a very good race, HRT seem to have a bit to sort out, 2 cars down one to go:eek:

Look forward to tomorrow. Wish I was there.

WPS Racing (Besnard and Noske) only have one BA race-ready atm...They also only have one franchise (a level 2 leased from Tasman/LRT).

Romano, Imrie and PWR all have L2 franchises for sale...WPS want one but not at the price they are asking. Seeing as they don't have a second car ready, they are waiting for one of the three franchise owners to get desperate for a sale...

L2 franchises must be used at all events this year, or face a $150K no-show fee.

Cheers

Well while the main team might have not had such a good day (to say the very least !!!) the junior team had a great hit-out with Owen Kelly doing the job for the team.

Here's the press release from the V8 Supercar website (http://www.v8supercar.com.au)

Kelly Wins Konica Minolta Clipsal Round

Team Fujitsu's Owen Kelly has won the second round of the Konica Minolta V8 Supercar Series at the Adelaide Clipsal 500. Kelly backed up his win in last night's twilight race with a superb drive this morning, taking the win in convincing fashion.

In the early stages of the race the Fujitsu Ford started losing power, as soon as Kelly crossed the finish line he had to pull over and park the car.

"With about 15 laps to go the car seemed to drop a cylinder, and I thought oh no it's all over again, so I tried to nurse it around and lucky it got there (to the finish)," Team Fujitsu's Owen Kelly said.

"I kept going as hard as I could, but it seemed to be going ok, so we just kept going as best we could.

"I was very concerned that I might not finish but I just kept driving and focussing on the job.

"The car literally stopped on the line so I parked it down on the chicane."

Kelly was ecstatic to win his first round of the season and make an impact on the championship.

"It means a lot (the win) 'cause I want to win all races, but it's good to win," Kelly said.

"I were so far in front last year and broke down, to finally have a change of luck is good.

"The win also give me the points I need, obviously it gets our points back on track and we can get on with it."

Kelly's teammate Jose Fernandez gave Team Fujitsu added reason to celebrate with a sixth placing.

"It's great for the team that both its drivers finished in the top-six," Jose Fernandez said.

"I got touched early in the race which turned me around, but I quickly gained the positions lost and got on with it.

"It was a bit like last night's race, we were again spread out so I just tried to bring it home as best I could so that I added to my points tally."

Owen Kelly now sits in sixth place of the Konica Minolta V8 Supercar Series with teammate one above in fifth.

Now if we can get Junior & Luffy to stay on the track, I think the main team might be in for a change in thier fortunes ???

cheers. :)

I was just thinking the same thing today!

this is his 4th year with Ford, and he hasn't delivered, due to mant, many reasons, IMO he is the best driver in the category
but hasn't had the equipment to proove it.

I'm sure Holden would welcome him with open arms.

I hope he stays and wins the championship in 2005 !;)

It seems that it might be the company line (in the Red corner) to blame Russ everytime there is a big crash. During this interview Cam said the following when asked about who hit him "I'm not sure who it was but I think Russell or someone gave me a tap in the middle of the corner"

Now what i find suprising about this is that Ingall had retired well over an hour earlier before this crash, yet he seems to be on the tip of people's tounges when there are big insidents :( ???

cheers.

I would just like to take this opportunity to say thankyou to Richard for taking the time out of his busy schedule to catch up with "stonebrosfan", "badbilly" and myself for dinner at the Earl of Aberdeen Friday night and for what was an amazing weekend of action. "Turn 8" has proved yet again to be one of the most dangerous/exciting/expensive corners on the calender. My heart goes out to Matt Coleman after his huge shunt in the Carrera Cup. I would be interested to get other peoples opinion on "that" corner and what suggestions they might have to improve the safety.

Maybe Cam thought Russell was still driving for Perkins:confused:

But after a shunt like that you can't blame him for being a bit confused.

Interesting top 10 after round 01 a few surprises in there.

2 PWR cars and 2 K-Mart cars. Only team with 2 cars in. Besides Morris who is only a 1 car team anyway - which is a surprise to be in the 10. I wonder if he can stay there?

I am sure SBR would have had 2 cars as well had Ingall finished. Also CPR would have had 2 cars if Dumbrell was not penalised 75points.

Big effort from Paul Weel in race 1. Didn't he start from 2nd last?
I thought Dumbrell did well in race 1 as well. Skaife was finding it hard to shake off rookie in the old VX. Can't comment on race 2 as we haven't seen it over here yet.

I didn't realise Bright got past Weel in Race 2, Dr Tooheys must have taken over by then ;) Did Weel let him by or did Bright put on a good move? Pity would have liked to have seen Weel on the podium - seeing as though they don't go by overall results for the podium spots.

Weel let him bye, well done to both of them.

Big ditto from me on that one, I would be over the moon!

Thing is, would it be possible due to the past?

Fair point Leigh!

Is there such a thing as equals in this sport?

I thought he confused Todd with Bingall!

Didn't he say, “I think Russell got passed then someone tapped me, could be wrong and I didn't tape it plus as Goldie said, I may have had the Larger Goggles on by then ;)

From memory, Bright out-braked Weel at the end of the long back straight & Paul didn't give much of a fight to hold him off, even thought they were side by side entering the corner.

cheers. :)

I hope Morris can keep up in the standings this year. If Seton hadn't hit him, he could've been top 5 in the championship.

Anyone there today that confirm this for me.

I was reading an article and they dont have two licenses yet or something, so they're swapping. Noske drove at GP and Besnard at Clipsal. They will interchange until they both can race.

I was there, and god damn it was awesome. It smashed crowd records again, awesome weather, great racing, great grid girls.

Had great seats aswell. The major crach in race 2 was right in front of me.

I'll attach some pics later. Took plenty.

An announcement on the news tonight in Adelaide has said that "tens of thousands of extra seats" will be added for 2005 and beyond. I hope there better than the one I bought. (see pic) Luckily I had friends further down pit straight with spare seats around them. I have E-mailed my pics x 3 to Clipsal Management to voice my concerns so hopefully nobody will have the same problem in the future.

jee, thats shocking. The only thing pit straight is good for is watching the start and finish of the races, and seeing the pits..other than that there is no action. To me it'd be a big waste of money. I had a look at the top stand and your view was still limited.

Where were you Mux? My seat was actually at the corner coming onto Pit Straight which has usually been pretty good.

you had a great view of the "corporate freeloaders" above the pits enjoying themselves, BB:D

We missed you on Friday night Chups where were you?

Thanks to Richard for taking time out to catch up with stonebrosfan, badbilly and me though. It was a good night.

I moved around a bit while I was there. I didnt actually sit at my seat. I also had a friend in a corporate box at Senne chicane and watched the top ten shootout from there. I agree Mux, the hairpin at the end of Brabham Straight or turn 8 are the way to go.

Interesting that PWR Racing's "Control ECU Loom was not in compliance with the Rules" in the first race...

How did Mark Noske get pinged for a driving infringement when he wasn't driving? That should be enough to clear them;)

Well done to Ambrose, the win was much deserved. My highlight was Paul Weels drive on Saturday. It's amazing what you can achieve if you drive sensibly and keep your nose clean!

mentioned on the other thread about getting together at the Earl of Aberdeen (also known as the Coopers Brew House) at around 7.00-7.30pm Saturday night for a beer and a feed. The last race finishes at around 6.30pm and its a 15minute walk from the track. Its on the corner of Carrington St. and Pulteney St and its where the last Biante dinner was held.

and i didnt read bevs post properly, so thats why i wasnt there :) also i dint know who i was looking for which makes it hard.

im not so sure, if the stewards are as bad as last year, he might get a 3 race ban (suspended of course!) :D
